It does not affect storylines in any way and it seems like a really fun way for them to do PPVs and its a really good way to still make things feel special. Even though I know what will happen I still will be paying to see it.
I don't mind themed PPV's. I LOVE tournament PPV's. Give them all a reason to fight and let them go in the ring for 3 hours.
