The Minnesota Vikings have announced the signing of free agent linebacker Marvin Mitchell. Terms were not disclosed. A seventh round pick out of Tennessee by the New Orleans Saints in 2007, Mitchell has 119 tackles, two sacks and an interception in 71 career games with the Saints (2007-10) and Miami Dolphins, where Mitchell recorded 18 tackles, one sack and picked up his first career interception while playing around 16 percent of the defensive snaps. Mitchell ranked second on the 2011 Dolphins with 12 tackles on special teams, a phase of the game where Mitchell has recorded 50 of his 119 career tackles and where his impact is mostly likely to be felt in Minnesota. The Vikings lost key special teams performer Kenny Onatolu when they failed to tender a qualifying offer and lost him to the Carolina Panthers. Onatolu had 11 special teams tackles while playing in over 60 percent of the special teams snaps last season.
