With $7.25 million in salary cap space coming off the books thanks to the release of veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield on Tuesday, it was only a matter of time before the Minnesota Vikings started spending.

Minutes before he was scheduled to hit the open market, offensive tackle Phil Loadholt and the Vikings reached an agreement on a long-term contract, per Tom Pelissero of 1500 ESPN.com.

Terms of the deal were not immediately made available.

So while Pro Bowl running back Adrian Peterson was unhappy to see dynamic playmaker Percy Harvin leave town on Monday, he’s got to be excited about the fact that one of the linemen who played an integral role in his 2,000+-yard season is back in the fold.
