Show opened with Kurt Angle in the ring cutting a promo on Shawn Michaels and telling Marty Jannetty that his tag match with Michaels on Monday was not going to help him prepare for a match with an Olympic Gold Medalist. Marty looks great. Last time I saw him, he looked like he was on the Ricky Morton diet. He's gotten into shape and can still go in the ring. This was the longest match of the night. Angle obviously works a less physical match than I’ve seen him put on in the past, but he still puts it together as well as anyone in the business. Very good match that did not steal any heat from Marty if they plan to use him in the future. Ending saw Marty tapping out after escaping the ankle lock twice.

JBL and Theodore Long in the back. Long tells JBL that if Cena touches him before WrestleMania, he would lose his title shot. However, he was suspending the stipulation for one night in a tag match where Cena could have JBL from bell to bell. Of course, JBL was joined by the new US Champion Orlando Jordan.

Luther Reigns and Booker T are next. Heidenreich is at the announce table. He exchanges some words with Booker T before the match, but doesn't interfere as The Book cleanly finishes Reigns with the Ax kick. Afterwards, Heidenreich cut one of those poetry promos that make absolutely no sense.

Between the matches, Torrie, Jackie, and Dawn Marie were in the audience taking pictures and posing with the crowd.

We're back and it’s time to sign the contracts. Out comes Long followed by a surprise visit from Bischoff who takes the mic to introduce Raw's Randy Orton. Crowd quickly to their feet and popping. Long introduces Smackdown's phenom, the Undertaker. Crowd is going nuts now. Taker signs the contract. Orton picks up the pen then cuts a promo telling Taker that the difference between him and the other 12 guys Taker beat at WrestleMania is that he’s not scared of him. He signs the contract and slaps Taker. Long and Bischoff clear the ring quickly. Orton gets out the ring and slowly makes his way up the ramp looking back at Taker. The Taker raises his arms and boom explosions for Orton.

Billy Kidman and Paul London are next. This was the only match of the night with no WrestleMania build. Billy Kidman is talented and I know there are a lot of people out there that like his work. Paul London gets the pin with a 450 splash.

Big Show comes out to cut a prom on Akemono for their Sumo match at WrestleMania.

Backstage, JBL and Jordon are still looking for Cena. JBL has come up with a plan to make Cena mad so that he’ll hit him and lose his title shot at Mania.

Chavo cuts a great promo on Eddie backstage. Chavo tells Eddie that last year he was World Champ, now he's tag champs with Rey. He tells him that with all the times Rey has beat him, if you can't beat em', join em'. He tells Eddie that Rey's holding him back. Chavo tells Eddie to do the family a favor and quit calling himself a Guerrero. Yeah, I can’t spell it.

During one of the photo ops, Dawn Marie gets fed up with the Smackdown Diva winner stealing her shots and a cat fight breaks out. Refs quickly break it up. Not sure if this one is on TV.

JBL finds Cena in the back and tries to make him hit him. Cena restrains himself then tells JBL, thanks for the pep talk, he’ll see him in the ring.

Tag match features JBL and Bashams vs. Eddie, Rey, and Cena. If you've never seen them live, the only thing you can try to do in a match like this is keep your eyes on Eddie and Rey. They're quick and if you blink, you miss something. Cena gets his hands on JBL a couple of times, but nothing spectacular. Ending saw Eddie take down one of the Bashams and head to the top for the Frog Splash. Rey comes over the top rope for the Plancha and the pin as Eddie looks on disappointed.

Show opens with Tazz interviewing Big Show about his upcoming "Sumo match" with Akebono. Tazz hype's up Akebono's appearance for next week. Luther Reigns comes out driving a Jeep and says that he should be the one facing Akebono, not the Big Show. To prove this, Luther says that he will personally tip over the Jeep onto its side. After a couple of failed attempts, Luther jumps in the ring, while Big Show was laughing at him and gets chokeslammed.

Kurt Angle in the back says he's got another "Blast from the Past" for HBK later tonight. Angle is hilarious!

Scotty Too Hotty was scheduled to wrestle Orlando Jordan, but during the intro Scotty and JBL get into it and ultimately they wrestle each other. After the predictable "worm", JBL kicks out, eventually hits the "clothesline from Hell" and gets the pin.

Hulk Hogan's Hall of Fame promo with footage of WrestleMania IX vs. Yokozuna shows up on the Titantron.

Teddy Long says he's got a treat for Memphis. He says he's got an Elvis impersonator to entertain us. Out comes Carlito Cool trying to sing some Elvis songs.

Chavo and Eddie are in the back. Chavo says Eddie should wrestle Rey and Mania.

Undertaker on the TitonTron says that there will be a "sacrifice" tonight to send a message to Randy Orton. All throughout the night during the matches, there's bits and pieces of thunder and lightning as the "threat" of the Undertaker loomed.

Best part of the night. Angle comes out to HBK's music and Sensational Sherri Martel accompanies him. Kurt points out that Sherri was instrumental in Shawn's career early on and even points out that it was Sherri who originally sang his theme song, "Sexy Boy." Kurt says that he can sing it better than HBK. So, they hit the music and Angle and Sherri start singing "Sexy Boy." Angle even dances and poses like HBK. Totally hilarious!!!!! HBK shows up on the Titantron and then rolls out a video montage of HBK's career. At the end Sherri is shown looking "emotional" as if to say, "that's my boy." Angle throws her down and slaps on the ankle lock.

During breaks they're airing the WrestleMania Trailers. It goes over big with the crowd.

Dawn Marie beat Michelle McCool. Too quick and not enough "skin" for the Memphis folks. Completely pointless match, too.

Eddie and Rey talk in the back. Eddie poses a challenge to Rey for a match at Mania.

Eddie and Rey defeat Charlie Haas and Hardcore Holly. Afterwards, Rey and Eddie speak in the ring and Rey accepts Eddies challenge at Mania. No heel turn for Eddie.

Carlito in the back being interviewed by Funaki. Funaki grabs Carlito's Elvis shades and Carlito break the guitar over Funaki's head.

Booker T. vs. Rene Dupree. In the middle of the match, the lights go out, smoke emits from the ring. Lights come back on and Taker shows up behind Dupree. Taker chokeslams Dupree and then piledrives Dupree on the stairs.

Cena and JBL "Debate." Teddy Long mediates. Cena entices JBL to throw a punch, so that way Cena would be "allowed" to punch back. Cena spray paints JBL's limo, pours water in his 10 gallon hat, cuts his tie and tries it on, and ultimately spray paints "FU" on his shirt. Lots of quick-witted comments by Cena.

Michael Cole comes out, and his substitute announce partner in place of Taz is Jerry Lawler who the crowd took to vociferously!

Cruiserweight Battle Royal for the Cruiserweight title: Paul London/Nunzio/Funaki/Scotty 2 Hotty/Akio/Kidman/Spike Dudley/Chavo Jr.

In between Spike's entrance and Chavo's entrance, they played a backstage segment between JBL and Teddy Long. JBL promises that Long would have lost his main event if he were to have touched Cena, because after all, he was a wrestling god. JBL guarantees that he will walk out of WrestleMania as champion. Back to the match. All seven challengers attack Chavo, sending him out within 30 seconds. Next out was Funaki. Fans were rooting at this point for Scotty to win the match. Nunzio was next out thanks to Billy Kidman. Meanwhile, Scotty gains momentum by giving Spike the worm to the feverish delight of the Houston crowds. Spike soon goes out thanks to Scotty. Scotty then gets eliminated via Akio, leaving Kidman, Akio, and Paul London. After getting double teamed, London comes back with a dropkick to Kidman who runs into Akio who was nearly eliminated by Kidman's blunder a second earlier, and due to London's dropkick, was now eliminated. We're down to London vs. Kidman. After some back and forth action, Kidman throws London over the top. London skins the cat and captures Kidman in a head scissors over the ropes to win the match and the title. Winner: Paul London, New Cruiserweight Champion in 6:48.

Eddy Guerrero v Danny Basham - As usual, Eddy was way over, garnering one of the biggest pops of the night, and multiple Eddy chants at various points in the match. Basham scored a two count with a nice powerslam. He worked over Eddy's back until Eddy's comeback with a ten punch turnbuckle spot. Eddy hit the 3 Amigos on Danny, and was getting ready to frogsplash his way to victory when Doug Basham interferes, dragging Eddy to the outside to punch him down. He then rolled Eddy into the ring, while Rey Mysterio charged the ring to help his partner. Rey tried to flipkick Doug, but ended up hitting Eddy, leading to a Danny Basham roll up for the upset. Winner: Danny Basham in 4:27 Postmatch: Eddy and Rey tease dissention, but eventually shake hands and hug.

Backstage: Teddy Long is talking with Carlito. Carlito claims that he is ready to go, even though Teddy hasn't received a doctor's release. After being convinced that Carlito is ready, Long states that his first match back will be tonight..against John Cena.

Backstage: Eddy and Rey are talking about what happened during the previous match. Eddy asked Rey you wouldn’t have done that on purpose would you? Rey assured him that he wouldn’t, and told Eddy that he could talk to Long to get Doug Basham in the ring. Eddy thought that would be a great idea, and slyly looked at Rey as Rey went to Long's office.

Backstage: Booker T is with his wife Sharmell, who is giving him a pep talk stating that Luther Reigns had some bad plans for him. Booker told her Tell me you didn’t just say that. Booker stated that he was home and he was ready.

Luther Reigns v Booker T - Booker was insanely over in his hometown, with multiple Booker T chants. Luther takes over after Booker missed an axe kick and straddled the ropes. Reigns uses some power moves and a reverse chinlock to control the action. Reigns goes for his finisher but Booker reverses it into a suplex. Booker comes back with a super kick, spine buster, and much to the glee of his hometown, the spinaroonie. Booker takes the match with the scissors kick. Winner: Booker T in 5:48

Backstage: Teddy Long meets, greets and hugs Bob Orton. Orton is concerned that Randy took his advice to make his mark too far, is now in over his head, and wants to talk and explain this to the Undertaker. At first Long refuses, but then relents, and tells him that he is next.

Bob Orton-Undertaker angle - Orton comes out to a respectful ovation, and runs down how although he is proud of his 20 year career and how he molded Randy into one of the best wrestlers in the world, he wants to talk to the Undertaker for his son's sake. After a few seconds of stalling, in which the crowd used to start a loud Randy sucks chant, Undertaker makes his way down to a thunderous ovation.

Orton states that he doesn't want any trouble, and asks Undertaker to hear him out. He apologizes for Randy’s slap. Taker states that it took one slap to seal Orton's fate. At WrestleMania, Randy Orton will Rest in peace. Orton gets on his knees to beg for mercy for his son, and Undertaker is preparing to leave, when Orton grabs him. Undertaker turns to look at Orton, who won't let go until Undertaker turns around right into an RKO from Randy Orton! Father and son leave the ring in triumph while Undertaker tries at first unsuccessfully to stand up. Undertaker would leave on his own power.

Rey Mysterio v Doug Basham - Doug is with Danny, and Rey comes out with Eddy. Doug has the early advantage with an abdominal stretch. A loud 619 chant breaks out. After some back and forth action, Rey hits a top rope bodypress on Doug, and the 619. Right after the 619, Danny tries to interfere, prompting Eddy to go after him. While Rey is climbing the top rope, Eddy runs into that same rope causing Mysterio to crotch himself, leading to a pin by Doug Basham. Winner: Doug Basham in 3:04

Backstage: Josh Matthews interviews Kurt Angle and asks him if his strategy had changed since his mission to put Michaels out failed. Kurt asks Josh if he would like to see the strategy and proceeds to pound Josh Matthews from backstage to the ring. After an Angle Slam and more, Angle puts Josh in the ankle lock for what seemed like for ever. No HBK here tonight, although the crowd was rabid for him. Angle showed a video showing why he is a bigger and better man than HBK and leaves the ring to a chorus of boos and "you suck" chants.

Big Show-Akebono weigh in - Michael Cole called both men to the ring. Show is quite over, while Akebono is not well known yet. Show weighed in at 493, while Akebono topped out at 504. Both men, while friendly towards one another, promised victory. Akebono stated that it was an honor for Show to give him his first sumo match in WWE, so he was going to show the world his first wrestling match tonight.

Akebono v Eddie Vegas - Vegas is a local Houston talent who didn’t last long against him. After a turnbuckle avalanche, Vegas was down for the count, and was pinned by the sumo giant when Akebono performed the traditional sumo leg movement and squatted down, sitting on Vegas' upper body winning in just :58. Winner: Akebono in :58

Carlito v John Cena - Cena has the superstar pop of the night. His pop was Rock-like in intensity, and for the brief time the two were in the ring, his offense looked good. After recovering from Carlito's offense, Cena begins to pump his shows up for the FU. At this point, JBL comes with four officers asking them to arrest Cena for what he did to JBL's car. The four guys take Cena down and handcuff him to JBL's taunts. Cena tries to go after JBL but can't get to him. JBL gets in a cheap shot as Smackdown ends. Winner: No one after 2:30

    Re: WWE Smackdown Spoiler

I think both shows could get very interesing. Do you think Cena will stay on RAW or that Smackdown will take him back? I really would like to see HHH just fade away, but I don't think that's going to happen. I think Cena's going to take on Captian C. and his billy goat side kick for a while.

    Re: WWE Smackdown Spoiler

I bet either HHH or Batista will get drafted to Smackdown. Since their Hell in a Cell match will happen no matter what, the guy that gets drafted to Smackdown will win the belt and take it with him. Thus, equilibrium will be restored. Or I could be completely wrong and JBL will assume the mantel of champion again.

That would be interesting..didn't think of that one (HHH to SD...or Batista)....I hate JBL tho & don't wanna see him get any championship belt again
