just to clarify: these matches are for tonight, the last thursday night Smackdown

    Wrestling Observer

    Taping date - 8/30/05 - Air Date - 9/1/05 - Jacksonville, Florida

Heidenreich over Mercury. Heidenreich looked bad. After the match they set Melina up for the Doomsday Device but Nitro saved and Animal ended up taking the snapshot. Jillian Hall is backstage with the network guy flirting with him. He acts like he is staring at the mole but he's just admiring her earings.

Backstage with Benoit again this time he went to the bathroom in under 25 seconds while they played the Jordan match again. Benoit was hilarious in this.

Benoit beats Orlando Jordan with the crossface in 23 seconds. Just like Summerslam. Jordan jumps him at the bell. Germans then the crossface.

Bob Orton Jr. introduces Randy Orton who calls out Taker again but he does not show up.

Christian comes down for color for the next match. He's selling a broken nose from last week with Booker T. Ken Kennedy beat Booker T with his finisher off the top rope. Very good match, Kennedy got great heat with his mic work. Sharmell argued with Christian while Booker T was on the top rope leading to the finish. Kennedy looked very impressive hitting that finisher on someone as big as Booker.

Backstage Teddy Long is talking to the Network guy about the diva match from last week. He apologized to Teddy and says tonight it will be Stacy vs. Christy in a straight wrestling match. He also tells Teddy JBL gets the night off to rest for next week's match against Batista. Teddy is not pleased with this news but they decide to do business together.

Batista over Simon Dean. Simon comes out and tells the people Batista is a great customer of the Simon System and look what it did for him. Batista comes out and takes a bottle of the Simon system which looked liked a chocalate milk bottle. Takes some and starts flexing his pecs. Puts his arm around Simon and says this stuff is great but one side effect. It's making him aggressive. Clothesline, demon bomb, it's over. Batista goes over to Simon's bag grabs another bottle of the stuff. Puts one foot on Simon and poses for the cameras while holding the bottle like he's posing for an ad.

Divas out for their match, right when it starts Sylvan Grenier now just known as Sylvan comes down and breaks it up. He's playing a supermodel role, and tells everyone to look at him and not the girls. Out comes Bob Holly to another great pop. He rags on Sylvan and eventually beats him down and leaves with the women.

Eddie Guerrero cuts a promo from backstage in front of a steel cage running his nose and face over it. Talks about how he has lost everything including his family. He asks Rey how can you beat someone who has already lost.

William Regal and Paul Burchell over Scotty 2 Hotty and Funaki. Burchell hit his finisher on Funaki for the win.

Main event Randy Orton over Rey Misterio with the RKO. Excellent Main Event, the people were way into Rey. Orton Jr. intefered to set up the finish. Match went a good 20 minutes.

Dark Main Event was Batista over Orton. This was a suprise, no one was expecting this match. This was a really good match as well. Batista finished him off with the Demon Bomb. He closelined Orton Jr. and he took a great bump to the floor.

Matches announced for the first Friday Night Smackdown next week on 9/9:
JBL vs. Batista for the World Heavyweight title is a bullrope match, MNM vs. the LOD for the WWE Tag Team titles, Chris Benoit vs. Orlando Jordan for the U.S. Title, Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero in a cage, Orton will call out Taker again.

the reason the 1st hour of Smackdown being on WWE.com is UPn is showing a concert for the victims of Hurricane Katrina at 8pm et

    WWE.com:

GM Teddy Long comes up on the screen and announces that the first hour of SmackDown will be seen on WWE.Com and the second hour will be seen on UPN on Friday Night at 9pm. He announced that tonight, you’d see three of the biggest matches in the history of the WWE. Chris Benoit defends his U.S. Title against Orlando Jordan, Eddie Guerrero takes on Rey Mysterio in a Steel Cage Match, and Batista goes up against JBL in a Bullrope Match for the World Heavyweight Championship.

WWE Tag Team Championship - Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich vs. MNM - Mercury & Nitro are accompanied by the always-lovely Melina. MNM spent the whole match working over Heidenreich, which led to the hot tag to Animal. Heidenreich and Nitro spilled out to the outside, while Animal started slamming Mercury into turnbuckles. The second turnbuckle he rammed Mercury into had the referee Jimmy Korderas in front of it, so he went down. Melina grabbed one of the tag belts and attempted to blindside Animal. Animal grabbed the belt from her and backed her into the corner. Just as Mercury was about to attack, Animal splattered the belt across his forehead. Animal revived the ref and got the win. Winners and STILL WWE Tag Team Champions: Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich

After this match, attention was drawn to a luxury box, where Teddy Long, Network Executive Palmer Canon, Stacy Keibler, & Christy Hemme are seen watching the show.

Ken Kennedy vs. Paul London - This was nothing but a squash. London really is getting buried since that rumored verbal scuffle with Vince backstage. Kennedy hit his amazing finisher off the middle rope for the win, and announced himself as the victor. Winner: Ken Kennedy

Paul Birchill vs. Scotty 2 Hotty - After a few minutes of back-and-forth, Scotty set up for the Bulldog which usually precedes the Worm. But Birchill threw Scotty left- shoulder first into the ring post, and did it two more times for good measure. He then hit Scotty with a beautiful shoulder breaker and followed with a Fujiwara Armbar for the tap out victory.
    Winner: Paul Birchill

Josh Mathews is backstage with Randy Orton & Cowboy Bob Orton. They are holding a gift for the Undertaker, which is a giant check.

The Undertaker comes out to the ring, intro and all, and says it’s time to quit playing games. You and your father are going to find out what death and The Undertaker have in common: we wait for no man. Father & Son then come out. They ask people to come out with their gift for the Undertaker. The signed Undertaker DVD they put up on WWE.Com’s auction block apparently sold for $1,416 and they had a check ready for Taker’s retirement fund. Orton put his signature on the check, but told Taker he had to come get it himself. The lights and the titantron start getting screwy. Taker apparently uses his dark, magic power to summon lightning that strikes down on the check and sets it on fire. Both Ortons bolt out of there.

    UPN’s portion:

    Steel Cage Match
Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio - The match starts off interesting. Rey immediately tries to go for the 6-1-9 but right when he’s about to do it, realizes he can’t with the way the cage is. Lots of high spots in this one, such as a Russian Leg Sweep from the top rope, Rey powerbombing Eddie from the top rope, and Rey jumping from the top of the cage on Eddie, who is standing on the turnbuckle below him, and hitting a hurricanrana. The finish comes when Rey, instead of climbing out of the cage, tries to hit a cross body splash from the top of the cage, but misses. Eddie is on the steps about to touch the floor, but goes back in to hit a Frog splash and finally gets a win in WWE-land over Mysterio, 1-2-3. Winner: Eddie Guerrero

Ken Kennedy meets up with Sharmell backstage and introduces himself. He plays troublemaker by telling Sharmell that her husband and Chris Benoit are such good friends, but Benoit hasn’t given Kennedy any title shots. He then defends this with a classic line: Friends don’t let friends drive drunk, but they sure as heck give each other title shots! As Sharmell is about to respond, Kennedy thanks her for her time and, reminding her that the name is Ken Kennedy, leaves. He than pops right back in the shot and says Kennedy again.

WWE United States Championship - Chris Benoit vs. Orlando Jordan - Before the match, they replayed both matches from SummerSlam and SmackDown last week. Right when the match started, a timer came up on the TitanTron, and you knew then this match wasn’t going to last long. Benoit squashed Jordan in 22.5 seconds. Jordan threw a temper tantrum in the ring, while still selling the shoulder. Winner and STILL United States Champion: Chris Benoit

World Heavyweight Championship Bullrope Match - Batista vs. JBL - After JBL makes his intro, he reminds us that it was this very match in which he won the WWE Championship in, and tonight would be no different. Batista hits the Batista-Bomb and starts dragging JBL around behind him while touching corners. JBL remembers his old tricks from the Guerrero match and touches the corners after Batista does. After the third one, JBL jukes in front of Batista and is no less than 6 inches away from the World Title. After about 10 seconds, Batista finally pulls him back, hits a spinebuster, and touches the 4th corner for the win. Winner and STILL World Heavyweight Champion: Batista

This is where SmackDown ends on TV

SUPER BONUS DARK MATCH - Randy Orton vs. The Undertaker - Orton and Taker easily had the match of the night, and I’m willing to say this one was better than their WM21 or SummerSlam encounters. It was just that good. No man dominated this one and it was totally competitive. Immediately after Hebner got squashed in the corner, Orton hit the RKO on Taker, but there was no referee to count. Cowboy Bob came out dragging Charles Robinson to the ring, but only got a two-count. Taker chokeslammed Orton, but the Cowboy dragged out Robinson at 2 and just decked him on the outside. Orton went for another RKO, but Taker shook him off. While he was distracted, Cowboy Bob came in the ring and nailed Taker in the face, which Taker no-sold. Taker tombstoned Cowboy Bob, chokeslammed and tombstoned Randy, and pinned both after Brian Hebner recovered. Winner: The Undertaker

    Benoit vs. Christian

Chris Benoit came out to a nice ovation from the crowd. Captain Charisma came out and a lot of younger men cheered. Orlando Jordan came to the ring and said, please don’t tell me this is happening. He said he refused to go down in history as the guy who tapped out at 22.4 seconds and attacked Chris Benoit. Benoit regained his step and caught Jordan in the crippler crossface and almost made him tap before Christian starting stomping and kicking. Booker T made the save and the match was announced as a tag team. Orlando went for the chair on the outside and Booker T grabbed the chair. Booker pulled the chair away and accidentally ran into Sharmell. Orlando and Christian doubled up on Chris Benoit and Christian executed the unprettier for the 1-2-3. After the match, Benoit was furious and asked Booker T what had happen. Winner: Christian and Orlando Jordan

Teddy Long and the network guy came to the ring with an applause Teddy Long said it was time to name a new number one contender for the Heavyweight Belt. He talked about the contender being an underdog his whole life, a family man, and a Latino. He was obviously talking about Mysterio but the network guy took the microphone and announced it would be Eddy Guerrero as the number one contender. Batista came out to a huge pop and listened. Eddy came to ring and talked about how he had several addictions and the worse one of all was that of manipulation. He said it was behind him now and he was a changed man. . A guy shouted at Batista not to believe him and Eddy called him a Moron and then apologized and said See, the old Eddy wouldn’t have apologize. Batista smirked and said everyone knew what kind of man he was and he could imagine what kind of champion he would be. Eddy talked some more about being a changed man and offered his hand and Batista said friends don’t shake hands, friends hug, and he embraced Eddy.

L.O.D vs. M&M - The match ended when one of the M&Ms hit Heidenreich with one of the tag team titles. Winner by DQ: L.O.D.

Teddy Long was upset with the network guy for ruining his decision for the number 1 contender. Network representative said the network wanted someone like Eddy because he has overcame odds. Nunzio and Vito came in and Nunzio complained about not being on Smackdown. Eddy Comes in and thanks Teddy Long for the opportunity and listens to the complaints. He says that he would like to see Batista in action and alludes to a match of Batista vs. Nunzio and the network guy jumps on the idea and announces the match.

Bradshaw vs. Mysterio - The Titantron showed footage of the bull rope match between John Bradshaw Layfield and Dave Batista. Rey Mysterio received one of the biggest pops of the evening which surprised me. Bradshaw and Mysterio focused on the David and Goliath match where Bradshaw was stomping and trying to simply catch Mysterio. Mysterio controlled the speed of the match only to be stopped a few times. One highlight is Mysterio going for a monkey flip in the corner but squatted away. Rey Rey hit a somewhat blotched springboard moon Sault for the surprise victory. Bradshaw was stunned and later backstage, he asked Jillian Hall if she would be work for him. Bradshaw is portrayed as a chief executive so a public image specialist to help salvage his reputation makes sense and will be entertaining to watch. Winner by Springboard Moonsault: Mysterio

Josh Matthews attempted to interview Bradshaw about losing to Batista and Rey Mysterio but he just walked away in disgust. Ken Kennedy walked up to Matthews and talked about the media being all about negativity. He then started to smell something and said the foul odor was Josh’s cologne, then said it must come from his underpants, then said it smelt like Arkansas and started to gag.

Batista vs. Nunzio - Eddy Came out and watched match from the stage. This was obviously a squash match with Batista dominating. He picked up Nunzio and placed him on the top rope and Nunzio dropkicked the champ. He hit the spine buster on Vito and power bombed Nunzio. Eddy gave the thumbs up to the champ. Winner by a stiff Liger Bomb: Batista

Randy Orton vs. The Undertaker - The Ortons kept talking about a surprise all night. Bob Orton had a surprise in a U-haul truck and kept teasing the crowd by knocking on the side or the camera showing them as they closed the door. This was an excellent match with back and forth action from both respective wrestlers. The Undertaker worked on the arm and the shoulder by clubbing blows and teased the OLD SCHOOL but was foiled by Orton kicking the ropes. Orton gained the offensive and started working on taker with fists and typical Orton arsenal. He really pulled out all of the stops on the undertaker with DDTS/impact moves and signaled for the U-Haul Truck. He opened the door and it the surprise was a casket. Taker got up and surprised Randy with a choke slam. Taker went for the pin but the ref was pulled out of the ring and knocked out by Bob Orton. Taker and R. Orton wrestled outside and taker grabbed Orton and placed him on his shoulder, opened the coffin lid only to see himself in the coffin. It surprised him as it did us and he dropped Orton and tried to regain his senses. The two went back to the ring and Taker won with a tombstone. After the match he did the signature fist raised in the air on the stage. Winner by Tombstone Pile driver: The Undertaker

Booker T w/ Sharmel d. Christian - Sharmel got the ref's attention a couple times but almost accidentally came close to costing Booker T the match. But Booker counters with a roll up and barley gets the three. Booker T and Sharmel took their leave and Christian had a fit in the ring.

Stacy and Christy were shown backstage and they were interrupted by Sylvian but he was quickly cut off by Hardcore Holly who told him to match his black boots and tights he was gonna give him a black eye to match. Holly walks off and Sylvian looks worried.

Hardcore Holly w/ Stacy and Christy d. Sylvian by Countout - Sylvian didn't get any reaction. Holly followed to a decent ovation. Holly knocked Sylvian around and ended up punching him right in the eye. Sylvian rolls out of the ring and is to worried about his eye to continue and leaves ringside and ref makes 10 count and hands Holly the victory. Holly/Stacy/Christy celebrate.

Palmer Cannon and Teddy Long are shown on the screen with Eddie Guerrero who is saying he's having horrible stomach pains but Eddie was saying he didn't think he could work the main event. Eddie excuses himself and goes and starts puking (off camera) and Palmer and Teddy are grossing out on the screen.

JBL comes out on a horse dressed in standard cowboy boots, jeans, jean shirt and cowboy hat and claims to be Lubbock's and Texas' "favorite son". JBL did a speech saying basically New York is better than Texas and he's glad he moved away but he likes visiting.

WWE Tag Team Title Bout - Animal/Heidenreich (c) d. Two Jobbers - Quick match as always. "LOD" was over and no one had any idea who the jobbers were and didn't give them a chance at all. "LOD" dominates and "LOD" nails the Doomsday Device and it's over and "LOD" retains.

SD! crew comes out to set up ring for a "funeral" for the Undertaker. Bob Orton comes to the ring and got in the ring and rushed the crew who brought down a casket, carpet, flowers and set them up in the ring and showed what happened last week between Orton and Taker in their match. Randy Orton comes out to a lot of heat and talks about how he had a dummy in the casket last week and how he played mind games with Taker and said that he scared the life out of Taker and knows he'll never be the same again. Orton opens the casket and reveals the dummy but it's no dummy, it's Undertaker he reaches up and chokes Orton and steps out of the casket and tosses Orton into the casket. The casket tips over and Orton gets the hell out of the ring fast and he and his Dad roll out quick. Taker is over huge!

Batista is shown talking to Teddy Long backstage, Batista is working out...not much to note here.

Bobby Lashey (making his SD! debut) d. Simon Dean - Dean came out on his usual scooter thing and Lashey was introduced by Chimmel and it sounds like this guy has done some impressive things in his career. Lashey comes out to a good reaction and this guy is huge! Puts TNA's Monty Brown to shame! Lashey squashes Dean and finishes him off with a modified Dominator! Lashey gets a standing ovation!

Ken Kennedy d. Rey Mysterio - Kennedy came out and told Chimmel he finally did his announcing right and gave him a hug and apologized for being mean to him for the past month. Chimmel accepts but Kennedy trips him and starts laughing and this time announces himself again using a special mic that came down from the rafters. Mysterio was over huge. Mysterio tried for a 619 but couldn't nail it. JBL comes back out on his horse and distracts Mysterio and Kennedy catches Mysterio on the top rope and hits his top rope finisher for the win. Kennedy got huge heat and Mysterio on the way out got a standing ovation.

Sharmel is shown with Booker T and he and Sharmel were talking about his great win and kind of get into a slight argument and Sharmel told Booker he needs to step up and take the US title...telling him Christian beat Benoit and he just beat Christian and says he needs to take the respect that the company isn't giving him and get a US title shot.

Palmer and Teddy are shown and Eddie is still having pains, Palmer arranged for a hot nurse to give Eddie a rub down. Nurse comes in and Eddie is enjoying it way to much...that's all I'm gonna say, just watch it's funny stuff!

WWE US Title Bout - Chris Benoit(c) d. Orlando Jordan - Benoit got a standing ovation and was over huge! Orlando didn't like me calling him Buck Wheat and called me a "Little Punk". Orlando outlasted the usual 25 seconds by ducking behind the ropes. When he saw the clock was passed 25 he was like "I told you so..." and Benoit locks on the Crossface and makes Orlando submit immediately!

Batista sneaks in the room where Eddie is getting a massage and makes the nurse step aside and scares the hell out of Eddie. Eddie says he doesn't know if he will be able to wrestle.

Batista/Eddie Guerrero d. MNM - It was a tag match but Eddie didn't wrestle the entire match and laid around the guardrail and held his stomach and Batista beat the hell out of MNM and took control of the match and nailed Mercury with a Batista Bomb and then Eddie sneaks up and makes a blind tag and hits the Frog Splash to win the match. Batista seems upset and Eddie quickly jumps up and praises Batista and presents him with the World Title and hugs him and acts like everything is cool

JBL comes out dressed with a sombrero, Zarape, and a lifesaver; pulling a donkey and with a bottle of tequila. While disrespectful, he looked pretty funny. He talked about how he talked with Rey Mysterio’ relatives who unlike him had no green card, and went on and on about illegals. Then, they introduced his tag partner Ken Kennedy who came out to talk to the donkey and calling him Tony Chimmel, told him he had no talent as a ring announcer. Mysterio came out to a new theme song along with his tag partner Hardcore Holly. Good match with Mysterio taking most of the bumps. During the match, Kennedy didn’t take headscissors from Mysterio well and fell too late, which didn’t look good. I’m sure they’ll edit that. Match ended after Kennedy was choking Holly from the outside of the ring and, when he let him go, Holly turned around to receive the Clothesline from Hell.

Melina is shown on the outside of the arena when Christy Hemme arrives riding a Harley. Melina complains about the noise and when she tries to hit Christy, she accidentally hits the helmet and breaks a nail which upsets Melina. That sets up a match between both divas. The Match was an OK Divas match. Christy looks a lot better in the ring. The match ended when Johnny Nitro interfered and Melina pinned Christy. Christy attacked Melina and before MNM gave Christy the snapshot, LOD hit the ring to make the save. Heidenreich came with the best Papa Shango make-up impersonation I’ve seen.

A promo announced an upcoming match between the Undertaker and Cowboy Bob Orton. They showed last week’s incident where Taker was in the coffin instead of the mannequin. After commercial, Cowboy Bob comes out and cuts a promo on how he doesn’t need Randy’s interference to defeat the Undertaker. The Undertaker music gets a big pop and out comes the dead man. Just as the match starts, Undertaker shoots Orton towards the corner only to bump the ref. Then Cowboy Bob gives Undertaker a low blow and out came Randy Orton. Both Ortons attacked the Undertaker and briefly revived the ref for a two count. Undertaker came back and pushed Randy Orton when he tried to give him the RKO. Match ended with the Tombstone piledriver on Cowboy Bob Orton and Undertaker picking up the ref by the belt in a very funny spot to revive him and get the three count.

The Ring was set for the Peep Show. Christian asked people in the audience who understood to raise their hand. He cut a promo on how he pinned Chris Benoit and he deserved a U.S. championship match. Booker T with Sharmell comes out and cuts a promo on why he deserves a championship match. Out comes Orlando Jordan to say he deserves a championship match to which Christian tells him what he just said took him longer that a match with Chris Benoit. Teddy Long comes out to announce that he is going to let Benoit choose his opponent and to let them prove themselves, a three-way is scheduled right away. Good match with Orlando getting the pin on Booker. Benoit’s music hit and out comes the Crippler. He first makes fun of Orlando telling him that he finally won. After teasing a match with each of the three he sets a fatal four way match for No Mercy.

Backstage, they show Teddy Long talking to Palmer Cannon when Vince McMahon arrives in Long’s office. He wants to know what the match for Homecoming is going to be. Long says that JBL, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, Christian and Batista will participate but between him and Vince, they say the match stipulation will be a surprise. The network exec tries to kiss up to Vince to no avail.

In the first main event, LOD faced Eddie Guerrero and Batista. This time, Eddie actually wrestled and got a pop from the crowd. Eddie came out to new music, I guess to set how he doesn’t lie, cheat or steal anymore. Match started with Eddie and Heidenreich with the Papa Shango makeup wrestling and Eddie giving Heidenreich a low blow. Match was a good back and forth match with no signs of Eddie turning heel. Batista gives Heidenreich the Batista bomb and Animal makes the save. Right then, MNM hit the ring and hit Animal with a chair, followed by Heidenreich. Eddie and Batista fought MNM off, with Batista giving Nitro a spinebuster.

Eddie tried hitting Mercury with a chair but he ducked and gave the chair shot instead to Batista in the back. Before Batista turned around, Eddie threw the chair to Mercury and then pretended to be hit and laid in the ring. Batista rose to give another spinebuster to Mercury. Eddie sold that he had been hit for a while and then both Batista and Guerrero kept raising each other hand.

Teddy Long and the Network Guy come out to proclaim Monday’s invasion of Raw a huge success, and that it will happen again. Suddenly, the Orton clan interrupt and point out that they were the first ones to invade Raw, not Long. They demand the ring to themselves and show footage of Piper and Foley getting RKO’d. Cue the pipes it’s Piper, with a lead pipe, clearing house and saying nothing. Odd.

Booker T (w/Sharmel) def. Orlando Jordan. Seems somebody is actually remembering what valets are supposed to do, as Sharmel really pumped up the crowd for Booker.

JBL cuts a promo from the lobby, then walks down through the crowd, beating up a Rey Mysterio teddy bear and accusing the Hispanic population of Texas of turning it into North Mexico. He then said that UT would loose the Red River shootout this weekend.

Video promo for Orton/Taker at No Mercy and then it’s Ken Kennedy AGAIN. They must really like this guy. Anyway, he’s guest commentator for our next match, in which Sylvan unconvincingly beat Bob Holly after a mike-shot from Kennedy, thus setting up Kennedy/Holly at No Mercy.

Now it’s backstage, where someone remembers that Rowdy Roddy Piper is best with a mike. A great promo cut on Cowboy Bob, confirming the Ortons versus Piper for later tonight.

Road Warriors and Burchill/Regal fight to a No Contest after a run-in by MnM.

And backstage again, with Eddie saying he has Batista’s back and it’s all cuddly.

Aaaaaaaaaand back to the ring. It’s Eddie again, saying he has Batista’s back. The place then explodes because The Animal is here. Batista accuses Eddie of levelling him with a chair last week. Eddie is hurt and outraged by the accusation, so Batista sets him a test. In a great moment, he hands Eddie a chair and stands withhis back to him. Great theatre. Eddie resists the temptation, but Batista leaves him with no doubt, stab me in the back and I will hurt you.

back to the ring. Orton and Orton take on Rowdy Roddy Piper and lose! Piper gets the pin after Orton jr high-tails it when he hears the teased tolling of Undertaker’s bell. Yes, takers’ dong is scarier than Roddy Piper. At this point, Orton and Orton are confronted with half a dozen druids, pulling a casket. Taker tells them to look in the casket, and they do, and see mannequins of themselves. the Orton’s fail to notice that Taker has appeared out of nowhere. He clears house and stares them down.

A round-up of the No Mercy matches, and it’s our main event: the postponed 6-man tag team bout from Raw. JBL, Eddie and Christian vs Benoit, Batista and Rey. Yup, three No Mercy matches in one night. Batista finally gets the pin on Christian after a bone-jarring spine buster and an excellent match. They continued to tease Eddie’s weird face turn as he is the one who actually turns the match for the faces by putting JBL over the top rope, leaving Christian unprotected. He then stays around to hug Rey, shake Benoit’s hand and raise Batista’s arm. He then gets jumped by JBL and Christian, leaving Batista to make the save.

Ortons came out for a promo with Randy challenging Batista for a title match. Eddie Guerrero came out as a babyface. This led to a main event of Guerrero vs. Randy for the No. 1 contender spot

Benoit b Orlando Jordan with a sharpshooter in 5:00. Before the match, Jordan said if he tapped to the crossface, he he would never wrestle again.

LOD & Super Crazy & Psicosis b Regal & Burchill & MNM when Crazy used a moonsault on Mercury. The Tolands attacked the Mexicools after the match.

Peep Show with Stacy Keibler. Keibler denied the story in the Star about her feuding with Jennifer Anniston. Jillian Hall came out. Keibler made fun of Hall's face. They ended up fighting and started a new feud

Booker T over JBL, Rey Mysterio and Christian. Rey went for the 619 on Booker, but Sharmell tripped Rey. Booker pinned Rey after an axe kick.

Benoit and Sharmell argued backstage and Booker didn't know what was going on

Bobby Lashley b Nunzio in a quick match.

Teddy Long and Palmer Canon were talking. Somewhere in here, the Boogey Man showed up. He did a promo that was borderline funny and ridiculous. He did a Nursery Rhyme and had an old style alarm clock with him, which he then smashed over his own head. Long thought he had potential.

Guerrero b Randy Orton via DQ. Eddie was on top for the frog splash when Bob threw him off for the DQ. The Ortons were beating on Guerrero when Batista made the save.

Booker T beat Chris Benoit to win the US Title. Sharmell hit Benoit in the jewels (which Booker didnt see) to set up the pin. After the match, Booker and Sharmell were celebrating when Benoit came up and asked her why she did what she did. She blew him off and of course, Booker didnt think she did anything.

Bob Orton claimed his back was injured so he couldnt work in the tag match with his son against Batista and Eddie Guerrero later in the night. Teddy Long said Randy better find a partner or hes gonna wrestle the two men by himself.

Matt Hardy debuted by beating Simon Dean.

Rey Mysterio and JBL went to a no contest when Edge interfered. Chris Masters came down too. This was to set up the Raw vs. Smackdown feud.

    Bobby Lashley crushed Vito.

Palmer Cannon did a bit with Long where he introduced Mexican luchadors for the new division.

    Bob Holly beat Sylvain.

Randy Orton picked Mr. Kennedy to be his partner for the main event. The heels lost by DQ when Bob Orton came out and helped them beat down Eddie and Batista, so next week it will be the three heels vs. the two faces, plus Roddy Piper.

It opened with the Peep show, where Mysterio, Hardy, Holly and JBL all came out to campaign for votes for the Taboo Tuesday match. Hardy actually got the biggest pop of all. JBL had the best line, saying if Masters was any smarter, he'd be a moron. Teddy Long came out and ordered a five-way free-for-all

Mysterio won the five-way pinning Christian with a huracanrana. Crowd popped for a Tower of Doom spot. JBL clotheslined Holly. Hardy gave JBL the twist of fate. Christian gave Hardy the unprettier. Mysterio then pinned Christian. When it was over, Mysterio and Hardy were in the ring together asking for votes.

Backstage, Booker T & Sharmell were in Teddy Long's office. Long showed Booker the footage from his title win last week and Sharmell also interfering the previous week. Booker threw a fit at Sharmell, told her he would defend the title against Chris Benoit tonight and that Sharmell had to apologize to Benoit

Roddy Piper showed up. He was confronted by Bob Orton. Piper told Bob that he wrestled his father who was a tough guy, and a smart guy. He insinuated Bob wasn't so smart. He saw Randy and started talking about reverse evolution, and that he's surprised Randy isn't walking on all fours.

They did a backstage stint where the munchkins played a prank on Simon Dean

Next was a very clever bit of manipulation. Palmer Canon came out. Zero reaction to him. Nobody knows he's a heel. Most people didn't even know who he was. Then they played a big Undertaker video and Taker's music. When it was over and everyone was expecting Undertaker, they turned the cameras on Canon and people booed because Undertaker wasn't there. On TV, it'll come across like Canon is this big over heel. He then put over the juniors division

Short Sleeve Sampson d. a blond little guy who looked like Billy Idol. A guy who looked like Pierrothtito was in the skit earlier in the show. The Billy Idol mini was called something Patterson, like maybe Little Patterson. Sampson won. Nick Patrick was given a low blow. Simon Dean came out and did some comedy fighting with both little guys.

Booker called out Benoit. He told Benoit that he apologized and was offering him a return match. Benoit's ribs were all wrapped up from the insane tope last week. Benoit accepted the match but didn't care if Booker or Sharmell apologized. Booker told Benoit that he figured that, but Sharmell still had to apologize. Sharmell was totally insincere and she and Booker had a big fight. She ripped on Booker and left. As Benoit was watching her leave, Booker went heel and nailed Benoit with a belt shot and he juiced and was left laying.

MNM won the tag titles in a four-way over LOD, Mexicools and Regal & Birchall. Super Crazy worked most of the match and carried it. Christy Hemme is no longer with LOD, but Juventud still has to act like a valet outside the ring for the Mexicools while holding the useless belt. Heidenreich hot tagged in. They set up the doomsday device, but the Tolands pulled Animal off the top and brawled with him. Inside the ring, MNM gave Heidenreich the snapshot and Mercury pinned him to win the title.

They announced Lashley vs. Vito & Nunzio in a handicap match next week. Vito & Nunzio also wanted a tag title match

Batista & Guerrero & Piper b Ortons & Kennedy. Guerrero is full-time face and the low rider ring entrance is back. Piper clearly was given no lead time to get in shape. Batista gave Kennedy and Randy spinebusters. Guerrero gave Kennedy a frog splash. With them laid out, Piper put Bob in the sleeper for the win. Piper was the most popular wrestler on the show

Rey over Orton by DQ when Coboy Bob interferes. As the Ortons work over Rey, Matt Hardy comes in and cleans house on the heels.

In ring interview with MNM. MNM brings out Michelle, insults her, Michelle slaps Melina, Melina retalliates and back Michelle into corner, which of course brings in the Mexicools to save the day because they love Top Model or something. Mexicools beat up heels, dance with model.

Lashely pinned Jordan with the dominator in a Survivor Series Qualifying match. Lashley gets on to 5 man squad to represent Smackdown

Eddie over Kennedy by DQ in another qualifying match. Ref bump allows Eddie to set up Kennedy for a DQ by tossing him a chair right as Charles Robinson gets up. Kennedy goes nuts and then really does hit Eddie with the chair.

Pierrothito pinned Buzz Stone with a elbow off the top for the finish.

They did an interview with the "twinkys" backstage. They really went all out with this one. Some phrases said during this gem were, "twinkys take a pounding", "cocky", "rock hard", "Can LOD beat the twinkys?", etc.

JBL pinned Benoit with the clothesline from hell after Booker T interfered when Benoit seemingly had it won. This was another qualifying match.

Edge vs Batista. Edge did not end up doing anything physical. It was all a set up from Bischoff. After Batista and Edge were in the ring, Bischoff showed up on the big screen and Teddy Long told him to get out. Masters jumps Long's security guards and puts Teddy in the Masterlock. Then they jump in a car and leave. The major faces, including JBL, from Smackdown run out to help Teddy. Teddy tells them to go get the Raw guys. So the faces pile in JBL's limo and speed off. This sets up the plan. So Batista is in the ring and Kane's pyro goes off, he comes down the aisle, then Big Show enters from the other side of the arena. Edge, Show, and Kane gang up on Batista and lay him out to end the show. The non major faces from Smackdown kept coming in one by one and were quickly dumped by either Big Show or Kane.

Batista came out driving Eddie's low-rider and did a very emotional promo. He had trouble maintaining his composure at times, but did a very good job.

Matt Hardy def. Carlito Caribbean Cool with the Twist of Fate. Crowd was quiet for most of it, partly because of the emotion and because the show had reached the two-hour mark.

Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich def. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch.

Chavo Guererro came out to a great ovation and defeated JBL [w/Jillian Hall]. Chavo threw a chair in the ring, threw it in JBL's hands, and then pretended to have been hit with it. When the referee threw the chair back, Chavo low-blowed JBL and won with a Three Amigos/Frog Splash combo. Chavo thanked the fans after the match.

Chris Benoit def. HHH in the main event with an inside cradle as HHH was fighting out of the Crippler Crossface. They embraced after the match, and as HHH walked to the back, Dean Malenko came out and got in the ring with Chris. The men took a sign for Eddie from a fan and placed it in the center of the ring before walking out.

Booker T vs Chris Benoit for the United States title went to a draw after two referees got involved and each counted a pinfall as both men had their shoulders on the mat. Teddy Long declared the title vacant and that Booker T vs Benoit was made for Survivor Series as the first in a 'Best of Seven' match, with the winner being declared the new US Champion.

The twinkys beat Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich

Matt Hardy beat Kennedy via DQ

    Melina pinned Christy Hemme

Juventud beat Nunzio via pinfall to become the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion

William Regal & Paul Burchill vs JBL & Rey Mysterio went to a no-contest after HBK, Carlito and Chris Masters invaded Smackdown! Carlito and Masters were sat at ringside before HBK hit the ring and superkicked JBL. Benoit, Animal, Heidenreich and Hardcore Holly hit the ring to make the save for Smackdown!.

Bobby Lashley pinned Orlando Jordan in what was basically a squash match.

Teddy Long ordered the entire Smackdown! roster to make their way to ringside ahead of tonight's main event.

Batista vs Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Title went to a no contest after a huge brawl broke out between the entire RAW and Smackdown! rosters in the ring and around the ringside area.

Tag Team Battle Royal - Winner gets a title shot against MNM. For the match, MNM watched from the announcers table, although they didn't talk. Melina did her infamous entrance on top of the announcers table. Mexicools won. In no particular order, Nunzio & Vito, "Road Warriors", Scotty 2 Hotty & Funaki, Paul London & Brian Kendrick & The twinkys were all elimintaed.

    Chris Benoit over William Regal.

Randy Orton over Matt Hardy. After the match, Undertaker's music hit and Randy acted scared while Undertaker was talking over the PA psyching him out. Randy tried to escape the arena by going through regular entrance but there was explosion there. He eventually went through the crowd to a small exit mostly used just for hockey that is in the middle of the stands. He pulled down the curtain there and there was a casket standing up. He ran away to the end of the arena bowl opposite the Titan Tron entrance where there is another large opening but an explosion occurred there as well. He made his way back to the ring and Undertaker announced over the PA that they would have Hell In A Cell at Armageddon

Next was Boogeyman over Simon Dean. This was really funny to start with. Simon didn't want to come out for the match so there were like six security guys that dragged him to the ring. Then out came Boogeyman. His entrance had so much fog in addition to smoke from some pyro that the ring was completely in a white cloud for a couple minutes. There was a funny spot here. I think it was before the break before this match that they showed a promo of Boogeyman in the back where Simon Dean opened the lid on a dinner plate and inside was Boogeyman with a mouth full or worms. Anyway, during the match, he had a container of worms in his pocket like you buy at a fishing shop and he threw them on Simon and then he ate some.

Bobby Lashley over Sylvan. A nice display of strength and stamina by Bobby. Sylvan didn't do much at all in this one.

Big Show & Kane over JBL & Rey Mysterio. JBL ended up abandoning Rey part way through the match. Show & Kane won of course but they chokeslammed Rey on a chair after the match. Batista came out to make the save. A little bit of posing on the ropes by Rey and Batista and that was it.

JBL with Jillian Hall comes to the ring for the opening match before the Smackdown intro with a huge tape job over his eye. He says that he is overwhelmed by the support the fans have given him through his injury. Sugar Ray Leonard retired from boxing because of an eye injury that was not this severe, and his doctors had advised him to retire. He could retire from wrestling today and live the life that the fans could only dream of. However, he would not deprive us from seeing what we had all paid to see -- a wrestling GOD. Rey Mysterio comes out and they start the match with Rey pretty much eluding JBL. At about the six minute mark after an exchange, JBL is draped across the second rope set up for the 619. As Rey runs to the opposite rope, Orlando Jordan runs down the ramp, dives under the bottom rope, and takes out Rey on his approach. DQ and beatdown ensues until Batista comes out for the save and clears house. As JBL and OJ back up the ramp, Theodore Long comes out and comments that it looks like JBL is getting his cabinet back together, and in that case, if they all want to fight tonight, they can do it in a tag match: Rey/Batista vs. JBL/OJ in the main event.

Next, Randy Orton with his dad come to the ring for a promo. Randy doesn't want to play games anymore. He doesn't want to fight. He doesn't want the match at Armageddon. He wants Taker now and is calling him out, sounding pretty desperate like Taker has gotten inside his head. Randy's video restarts on the big screen and then winds backwards, forwards. Randy talks more and we get the bell and blue lights, but no Taker. Quotes from Virgil, Ralph Waldo Emerson, John Calvin, and Dante about hell appear on the Tron with the voice of Taker reading them, obviously referencing the Hell in a Cell match.

Crystal knocks on Booker's dressing room door and Sharmell answers. Booker and Sharmell brag about how he's going to win tonight to go up 3-0.

Super Crazy with Mexicools defeats Joey Mercury accompanied by Johnny Nitro & Melina. Six minute match ended after the Super Crazy pin. Mexicools got a 3-on-3 beatdown after somebody came through the crowd and joined MNM for the beatdown. Crowd was hot for Melina's entrance and exit.

Jobber waiting in the ring coming out of commercial and we get Kennedy's music. Big pop, but Palmer Cannon came out and said Mr. Kennedy would not be able to compete tonight but he has found a more than suitable replacement--Boogeyman. Mist & pyros and the jobber in the ring was scared senseless. He got in no offense and Boogeyman won with his pumphandle slam sort of finisher. Boogey ate worms before the match and during the pin. After three was counted, he spit the worms on the face of the jobber he pinned.

Booker defeats Benoit after 19 minutes. Book takes out the ref after Benoit ducks a high kick. Benoit locks in the crossface and Book taps but no ref. Sharmell pushes Tony Chimmel out of his seat, takes the chair and enters the ring. Benoit breaks the hold and goes after Sharmell but Book clubs him in the back of the head. A single shot with the chair across the back sealed the win as the ref came to with Sharmell's help.

Lashley defeated Regal with Paul Burchill in two minutes.

Three Randy Orton segments that happened in this order, but not sure between what matches.

#1 - Randy is washing his face in the locker room. Camera moves so that you can see behind Orton through the mirror. Taker is standing behind Orton but when he spins around and camera spins around, no one is there, giving you the impression that we are imagining what Orton is seeing, not what is really there.

#2 - Cowboy Bob comes in to talk to Randy. Camera cuts to Randy as he is in total shock at what he sees. Cut scene and a "second" camera is on Cowboy Bob and his head is all busted open. Shot goes back to Randy and pans back to Bob and everything is normal--no blood. Dad tells Randy he is too stressed out and he should get going for the night.

#3 - Bob & Randy take their stuff to the car and put it in the trunk. Randy goes to get in and the doors are locked. He asks his dad if he has the keys and the car pulls off by itself. Josh Matthews comes to interview them about the match at Armageddon and in mid-sentence his eyes roll back and he shakes a little and then starts "channeling" Undertaker. After he finishes, he flips back to his normal self and then says, "Any thoughts?" which elicited great laughter from the crowd. Ortons are freaked out big time.

Batista/Rey Mysterio defeated JBL/OJ. Jillian got in the ring to hit Rey with her clipboard. JBL came after Rey at the same time and almost hit Jillian. Rey runs behind both, hits the ropes, and dropkicks the pair into the ropes for the 619. At the last second, JBL pushes off the ropes using Jillian. She takes the 619, staggers and falls. JBL looks mildly concerned and when he turns around, Rey is about to jump off the top rope for a springboard. JBL backs up and trips over Jillian's body and sells a knee injury, which means he is going to walk out on a match for the second week in a row. 16-minute match OJ gets doubleteamed and is pinned after a Batista Bomb.

The Boogeyman def. Nunzio (w/ Vito) in a major squash

Randy Orton is shown back stage, talking to his father, Bob Orton, who recommends that he see a shrink. Orton obliges, and is next shown laying on a couch talking to the shrink, an older man with a beard. The shrink asks Randy what he's got to prove and that this 'Hell in a Cell' is a matter of life and death. Randy thinks about what the shrink said.

Batista is shown backstage, and Melina enters and begins rubbing his shoulder and chest. She kisses him, and Batista grabs her on his lap, as she grinds him, and they make out as the screen fades to black.

Screen comes back and Melina is shown fixing her hair, insinuating that Batista tapped that ass, and says something to the effect of asking Batista if the match with him and Rey tonight against her MNM is off. He laughs and tells her he's going to 'kill those guys.'

Kid Kash def. Super Crazy with brainbuster. After the match, Kash attempts another brainbuster on a chair, but Juventud and Psychosis save Crazy.

Batista and Rey Mysterio def. MNM to win the tag team titles. Rey played the victim the entire match, made the hot tag to Batista, who finished off I belive Johnny Nitro for the win.

Bobby Lashley def. Paul Burchill in a squash.

Randy Orton is shown backstage talking to his father, and tells him that he has made a decision and will share it with the crowd later tonight.

Matt Hardy promo backstage with black lady interviewer, and is interrupted by JBL, who punches Hardy. After JBL begins talking, Hardy attacks JBL and they brawl on the ground before its broken up by officials

Hardy and JBL is shown on the screen announced for Armageddon.

The twinkys def. LOD when Heidenrech was pinned with a top rop legdrop.

JBL comes out to do commentary for the Matt Hardy/Booker T match.

Booker T def. Matt Hardy after JBL gave Hardy a clothesline from hell on the outside when Sharmell distracted the ref.

Randy Orton comes out and announces his retirement. He says that he has killed many legends, and has since realized that nobody can kill the legend of the Undertaker. He says that he is going to kill another legend tonight, his own. Cue Undertaker music. Druids come out, followed by the Taker. Crowd went NUTS live. Taker walks into the ring, druids leave, except for one, who holds up an urn. Taker looks towards Druid, while Orton blindsides Taker and kicks him in the balls. Orton attacks Taker with an RKO, yet Taker gets up. Orton grabs a chair and destroys Taker, yet he gets up once again. The druid takes off the hood and its Bob Orton. Randy grabs the urn from his daddy and nails Taker, who this time does not get up. Randy grabs the microphone and tells Taker he'll see him this Sunday at Armageddon.
