Has Mike Shanahan Gone Mad? Portis To Return in 2010.

" I told you, I am NOT Clinton Portis! I don't even know who he is."

In what appears to be either a bout with nostalgia, or utter dementia, Mike Shanahan has completely committed to running back Clinton Portis—better known as The Little Running back That Could.

Shanny told reporters last Friday quote: “He’s our running back. I expect him to be in great shape and do everything he can to be the best player. If he does that, I know what type of ability he has. Hopefully, he can help us win.”

Aside from that sounding a little confusing Mike, can’t we just face the facts and agree that this is not the glory days of old, and resting on Portis’ laurels is a very bad idea at best.

Washington’s situation at running back—especially in a zone blocking scheme—will require a talent that the club simply doesn’t have, and don’t expect them to draft anyone worthwhile this year. As for Portis, his days of being a fantasy elite are over and while I admit this article is being written in February, it’s my opinion that a retired L.T. has more fantasy worth than Portis.

What? Fantasy Football is a very bad addiction even for us writers.

You could be right.. or very wrong. Look at what Portis did in Denver… now is worth a hard look? I’ll watching him close in pre-season etc and if he drops to me late in the draft I’ll snag him up then use him for week 4 trade bait.

True, but you’lll have to find someone who is goin g to be willing to trade with you :p
