Mangini or Mangina? Inherit Two, Choose One!

Mangini or Mangina?

Tool or Fool? Pardon the atrocious title, but it seems so befitting of the situation he inherited in Cleveland. Is there anything worse than drafting a really good prospect, to have a new regime crush the hopes of your prospect by default? I have some advice for the annoying coach in Cleveland, grow a set and pick your positions starters! If these charades continue, Browns fans are going to throw the head-coach a few signals he can’t call during their teams games. Is he scared? Is he paying attention? I don’t know, but I would like to find out!

What was Cleveland thinking?

What was Cleveland thinking?

Has Brady Quinn still not shown potential? If you have been following the QB controversy in Cleveland, you should know this battle is turning into a joke!  Through three games of pre-season action, Brady Quinn couldn’t possibly do anything more to further himself from the one year wonder(Anderson). Yet, we are still waiting for confirmation of his starting QB. I personally don’t understand the evaluation process that is currently ongoing in the eyes of Mangini.

Brady Quinn - Quinn has completed 67.7% of his passes (21-31) for 227 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT over the course of this so-called QB battle, and is looking like the prospect they knew they were getting in the draft, only a few short years ago.

Derek AndersonAnderson has completed 57.7% of his passes (15-26) for 207 yards with 2 INT’s and zero TD’s. He is looking like a deer in the headlights, and should have already been stripped from any chance he might of had at starting the season.

Am I not seeing something? Please help me understand this!

With both these QB’s still in a battle for the starting job, my question to Mangini is, what are you looking for? Is there a miracle QB in Cleveland that only Mangini can see? Browns fans were quite disturbed at the idea of Mangini coming to Cleveland, now they are getting more and more distraught at the idea of this coach making decisions that will affect the outcome of their ’09 season. Can you blame them? I certainly can’t! This battle is literally becoming a joke for all who watch, with this situation unclear to start the season, it seems like this coach is hanging any kind of respect he could have possibly earned from fans in Cleveland (and fantasy owners everywhere).

Can you see the difference?

Can you see the difference?

My advice to Mangini is this, pick’em and start’em! If Brady Quinn has a poor outing in the pre-season finale, it could possibly crush his confidence and hurt his status for the upcoming season, even though he has clearly surpassed Anderson in terms of smarts and accuracy. This kid is a really talented prospect, his coach on the other hand, is bumbling his QB’s confidence and creating animosity between the organization and fans. If Anderson is named the starter, Mangini should be forever remembered as the coach who couldn’t make a smart (or the right) decision.

I and an army of fans believe the best QB is clearly Quinn! Sometimes numbers don’t tell the whole story, but if you have watched Anderson in the pre-season (and last year), that is simply not the case with this situation, Quinn seems far more poised at QB. With Mangini quoted as saying, “I will go through the whole process before choosing my QB”, will the fans ever really know what more there is to this “process” he is speaking of? Good luck Cleveland, I feel sorry for your chances at a good season in ’09 under this coaches guidance. Hopefully he wakes up and picks Quinn to lead this squad, then fans should at least have hope for the future of the Browns organization going forward.

  1. I’m waiting for Derek Anderson to go to Mangenius and tell him to give the job to Brady Quinn at this point. It’s becoming ignorantly obvious to everyone that Anderson’s just not the guy. Poor Quinn has become the team’s toiletpaper..

    • I couldn’t agree with you more Rustyn! This is getting rediculous on all accounts, Mangini should just ask McDaniels how his new regime is doing after replacing their most talented QB. It’s so blatantly obvious who should be starting. It honestly makes me mad as a sports fan to see this sad display being played out in Cleveland. If he starts Anderson, he should be fired immediately, and save their franchise from any more bad decisions. After firing Romeo, I thought they were heading in the right direction, until I watched his replacement (Mangini) get hired.

  2. Beautiful post. Right on and great timing. When the Browns hired Mangini, I was baffled. So far he is justifying that feeling.
