Your usual fantasy guru Ray Tannock is taking a break from the rankings this week, so I am here to give you the lowdown on what’s going to go down in Week Two. We had a lot of surprises at quarterback in Week One. The biggest one, obviously, being Cam Newton’s breakout performance against the Cardinals. Things should settle down this weekend, but we could have a surprise or two that pop up out of nowhere.

Before I start, I would like to congratulate Ray for coming in first place in Fantasy Football Crystal Ball’s Week One Accuracy Score for Quarterbacks last week. Way to go RAY!!!!!!!

Below are my quarterback rankings going into Week Two.

TOP FIVE WEEK-TWO MATCHUPS (MUST START)

1. Aaron Rogers (GB) @ CAR: Is there any reason to not put Rodgers at No. 1 this week? I know Tom Brady had that huge game against Miami, but my money is on Rodgers to lead the charge against a Carolina Defense that gave up 309 yards and two scores against Kevin Kolb.

2. Tom Brady (NE) vs. SD: Putting Brady any lower than No. 2 would be ridiculous. The guy simply doesn’t stop at putting up big games. Hell, he even made Deion Branch look like a stud Monday night. The Chargers Defense will come back down to Earth after facing Donovan McNabb in Week One.

3. Michael Vick (PHI) @ ATL: Vick didn’t throw for very many yards (187) against the Rams, but his two passing touchdowns and 98 rushing yards made up for it. Vick showed he still has plenty left in the legs. He will need that in, what figures to be, a very emotional game against his old team the Falcons in their house.

4. Matthew Stafford (DET) vs. KC: Stafford had a huge Week One, throwing for three touchdowns against the Bucs. Kansas City didn’t have an answer for Ryan Fitzpatrick. And after losing Eric Berry to a torn ACL, Stafford should have his way with the Chiefs’ secondary.

5. Philip Rivers (SD) @ NE: The Chargers’ receivers were held in check by the Vikings, but Rivers still had a huge fantasy day, using both Mike Tolbert and Ryan Mathews in the passing game. If Chad Henne can look like a Pro Bowler against the Patriots D, Rivers should have a field day in Foxboro.

With the first round knocked out, I return with my second installment of my 2011 NFL mock draft. For a quick recap of the first round, we saw Cam Netwon go to Carolina, Patrick Peterson to Buffalo, Blaine Gabbert to Tennessee, Robert Quinn to San Francisco, and Prince Amukamara to Minnesota. With the first 32 picks knocked out, the most talented players left on the board include Brooks Reed, Akeem Ayers, Aaron Williams, Cam Heyward, and Brandon Harris. Early in the second round there are a bunch of teams who could be looking at quarterback upgrades, as Buffalo, Cincinnati, Arizona, Washington, Minnesota, and San Francisco all could/should be looking to address this area of need and have a prime selection early in round two. Now that we have this out of the way, we’ll get back to the grind:

New England (33): Akeem Ayers, DE/OLB, UCLA

Still in desperate need of some pass-rushing reinforcements for their front seven, New England is forced to use a second high draft pick on pass rush personnel. Even if both Cameron Jordan and Ayers pan out, the Pats have filled the need for a second outside linebacker and for a defensive end to upgrade over Gerard Warren. However, Mike Wright is injury prone and Ty Warren won’t be around forever, and with an abundance of draft picks the Pats very well might triple-dip in pass rushers with this draft class.

Buffalo (34): Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame

Shawn Nelson has been a terrible disappointment for Buffalo. They’ve got a lot of holes to fill but Rudolph has first-round talent at tight end. Since I’m a believer in Ryan Fitzpatrick, they might as well surround him with some good toys to play with before moving on from him.

Cincinnati (35): Andy Dalton, QB, TCU

Since Carson Palmer doesn’t plan on playing for the Bengals ever again, they need a contingency plan. I could have given them Blaine Gabbert in round one, but with the looming departures of Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco, AJ Green’s talent was simply too much to pass up. Now they have to come back with an accurate West Coast-style passer to build the offense around. Dalton has really good accuracy and nice mobility to go with it, and given Green, Cedric Benson, Jermaine Gresham, and Jordan Shipley as weapons, Dalton will help a lot of Bengals fans forget the name Carson Palmer.

Denver (36): Cam Heyward, DE, Ohio State

Despite Elvis Dumervil returning to the starting lineup next season, the Broncos really need to make improvements to their pass rush and add depth to their front seven. Injury concerns drop Heyward into the early second round, but despite the elbow he is too talented for Denver to pass up.

Cleveland (37): Brooks Reed, DE, Arizona

Cleveland, in need of 4-3 personnel, is lucky to find Arizona’s Brooks Reed here. His stock has been rising and it’s starting to look like he could go in the first round. Cleveland didn’t have a bad defense last year and has a lot of solid building blocks, but they still need to improve at getting to opposing quarterbacks.

Arizona (38): Aaron Williams, CB, Texas

The Cardinals need multiple offensive line upgrades, but their defense gave up the third-most yards in the league last year. Their front seven needs most of the help and will enjoy the addition of Von Miller, but the Cards could use reinforcements at corner as well. Texas’ Aaron Williams should not disappoint.

Tennessee (39): Marcus Cannon, G, TCU

The Titans got their new quarterback in Round One with Blaine Gabbert, now they need to start giving him protection and weapons. Having Kenny Britt and Chris Johnson will be a big help, so they should pursue an offensive line upgrade before getting another receiver or tight end for Gabbert to work with. Cannon is currently the top talent on the board at guard, an area where the Titans could use some help.

Dallas (40): Ben Ijalana, T, Villanova

The Cowboys need a bunch of upgrades on defense and on the offensive line. They got JJ Watt to bolster their defensive front seven and now seek to improve Tony Romo’s protection with a new right tackle. Next up they’ll have to address holes in their secondary, regardless of whether or not Jerry Jones sees it as a position of need.

Washington (41): Jake Locker, QB, Washington

Once considered a first round prospect, Jake Locker threw his draft stock off the cliff after the season he had in 2010. Still, there’s not much in terms of surefire quarterback talent this year, so the Redskins will start a mini-run on the position here by taking the top name off the board.

Houston (42): Brandon Harris, CB, Miami

After giving up a league-worst 267.5 passing yards per game last year, the Texans badly need help in their secondary. Brandon Harris, like Aaron Williams, is a borderline first-round talent who falls to round 2 out of circumstance and provides Houston a nice option to pair alongside former first round pick Kareem Jackson.

Minnesota (43): Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State

It’s time to move on from Brett Favre, and Tarvaris Jackson just isn’t the answer. The Vikings have to find a guy to be their next starting quarterback, and Ponder is the best option to go with. With Sidney Rice (assuming he is re-signed), Percy Harvin, Visanthe Shiancoe, and Adrian Peterson in place, any potential new QB for the Vikings is coming in to a pretty good situation, so there will be no excuses for failure.

Detroit (44): Bruce Carter, OLB, North Carolina

The Lions have had a really nice youth movement as of late led by Louis Delmas and Ndamukong Suh, but there is still plenty of work left to be done. Particularly, the team needs some help at linebacker and to groom a replacement for Julian Peterson. Bruce Carter should be a beast on the outside and will help “restore the roar” to the Lions defense.

San Francisco (45): Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas

Mallett may not have great character, but boy can he throw a football. For a desperate franchise like San Francisco, they need to take a look and hope that he can become a great quarterback despite his obvious downsides. Being able to take him in round two and after other elite quarterback prospects is a huge plus because it will mean less of a financial commitment in case Mallett follows in the footsteps of superbusts Ryan Leaf and Matt Leinart.

Denver (46): Joseph Barksdale, T, LSU

Luckily for the Broncos they have the second overall pick and two early second rounders to address their many holes. Cam Heyward and Marcel Dareus represent much-needed upgrades to the front seven, and now they need to focus on the offensive line. I thought about Danny Watkins, who is ready to be an impact blocker right now, but because of his age (27) I feel many teams will back off him more than they should. Instead they end up with Joseph Barksdale of LSU, who will hopefully be the upgrade Denver needs at right tackle.

St. Louis (47): Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami

Q: Why did Sam Bradford struggle so much at times last year? A: He has no help at receiver. The Rams need another playmaker on offense and at 47 Leonard Hankerson is a steal.

Oakland (48): Davon House, CB, New Mexico State

For some reason, the Raiders decided they didn’t want the best cornerback in the game on their roster anymore. Nnamdi Asomugha’s contract was voided for not getting enough interceptions (it’s hard to get a lot of them when you’re the least-thrown-at-defensive back in the game), and while the team may try to bring him back they certainly can’t count on it. Davon House is the best cornerback on the board and they pretty much have to take him unless they can find some other contingency plan.

Jacksonville (49): Rahim Moore, S, UCLA

After ranking second-to-last in passing defense last year, the Jaguars have a ton of improvements to make in order to get their defense to an acceptable level. Moore will be a big boost to the secondary but even after this pick the Jags will need another safety and a cornerback.

San Diego (50): Jerrel Jernigan, WR, Troy

The Bolts have almost no chance of retaining Vincent Jackson and Malcolm Floyd, so to keep their offense in tip, top shape they’ll need to add a wide receiver. Jernigan is the top wide out left on the board and his stock is after the rise after a nice Pro Day.

Tampa Bay (51): Jabaal Sheard, DE, Pitt

The Bucs need a bunch of help at defensive end even with their first round selection of Muhammad Wilkerson. Sheard has better talent than his draft stock indicates and should fill in nicely in the starting lineup for Tampa.

New York Giants (52): Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech

With Ahmad Bradshaw in the fold, the Giants don’t necessarily need Williams, but it can never hurt to take the best player on the board. Besides, with Bradshaw an upcoming free agent, it is possible that he could leave the team. If Bradshaw does leave, no one in the Giants organization would be comfortable using Brandon Jacobs in an every-down role. Williams would make for a very good replacement, sooner or later.

Indianapolis (53): Quinton Carter, S, Oklahoma

After releasing the oft-injured Bob Sanders, the Colts are going to have to look for a new safety who can step in and take over the role. Carter is the top safety left on the board and has demonstrated some very nice ability in coverage.

Philadelphia (54): Tyler Sash, S, Iowa

Like Indy, the Eagles are need of a few upgrades to their secondary with their top needs including a replacement at safety and depth at cornerback. After the Colts nabbed Quinton Carter and no prospects currently worth taking at corner, the Eagles are left to go with Iowa’s Tyler Sash.

Kansas City (55): Christian Ballard, DE, Iowa

Kansas City’s only big pass-rush threat at the moment is Tamba Hali, and this needs to change if the they expect to make more playoff runs (or even win a playoff game) in the future. Ballard is worth a look as a defensive end, though this will still leave the Chiefs with a need to upgrade over Mike Vrabel. Still, there’s no way Ballard can be any worse than Tyson Jackson, making him an instant upgrade.

New Orleans (56): Drake Nevis, DT, LSU

The Saints need a long term solution at defensive tackle because Shaun Rogers will be little more than a stopgap. Nevis is a big, quick, disruptive tackle and as long as he can keep his size under control he should be a serviceable player for the Saints.

Seattle (57): Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina

Even more so than the Saints, the Seahawks need help up front with their defensive line. Austin is even more physically gifted than Drake Nevis, but the problem is that there are issues with Austin’s work ethic. However, as we’ve seen with his gambles on LenDale White and Mike Williams, this isn’t a big deal for Pete Carroll, who is too desperate for defensive help to be picky.

Baltimore (58): Curtis Brown, CB, Texas

He may not be the fastest corner prospect in this draft class, but Curtis Brown had a nice 39.5-inch vertical and is not afraid to dish out some hard hits. Is it just me, or is that Baltimore-style football? With multiple cornerbacks set to reach free agency, this is a big area of need for the Ravens, and as the best cornerback prospect left on the board Brown seems like a natural fit to me.

Atlanta (59): Stefen Wisniewski, OL, Penn State

Wisniewski’s draft stock currently pegs him as a middle-second round pick, so it’s a bit of a miracle for Atlanta that he’s fallen this far. The Falcons could use an offensive line upgrade to improve protection for Matt Ryan, and while they have a bigger need at offensive tackle, Wisniewski has the flexibility to play center or guard and certainly couldn’t hurt Atlanta’s offensive line. Matty Ice will appreciate all the extra blocking help he can get.

New England (60): Mikel Leshoure, RB, Illinois

It may not be very Belichickian to take a big-time running back, but it is Belichickian to take a big value pick. Mikel Leshoure is one of the best running backs in this draft class and could easily be taken much earlier in the second round. Also, despite the emergence of both BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead last year, having a three-down back in the fold would go a long ways in helping the offense as it wouldn’t telegraph what sort of play to expect for the defense. The Pats are actually expected to take a running back in the draft this year, and this seems like the best spot for them to do it.

San Diego (61): James Carpenter, T, Alabama

Carpenter isn’t the most athletic guy at tackle, but has excelled as a run blocker and would fill a positional need for the Chargers.

Chicago (62): Danny Watkins, G, Baylor

Just like Matt Stafford with the Lions, it isn’t the front office that is paying the price for having a bad offensive line, it’s the quarterback. Jay Cutler may have been able to lead the Bears to the Super Bowl last year, but we have no idea what would have been because terrible blocking allowed the Packers to pound him to the turf until he couldn’t play anymore. Teams will likely back off of Danny Watkins a little bit because he’s 27, but he’s ready to start right now and should be an impact blocker. Chicago needs to find out if he’s as good as advertised.

Pittsburgh (63): Rodney Hudson, G, Florida State

There’s a possibility the Steelers won’t be bringing back Willie Colon, so he will need to be replaced. Rodney Hudson has been a great run-blocker and Rashard Mendenhall will love all the open rushing lanes that Hudson will create for him.

Green Bay (64): Sam Acho, DE/OLB, Texas

I originally would have given the Packers a guard here like Orlando Franklin or Will Rackley, but since Johnny Jolly has been arrested again it’s time for the Packers to move on and find somebody else. Sam Acho will provide another pass rusher across the field from Clay Matthews, which is always a plus when you face Matthew Stafford and Jay Cutler twice a year.
You could make a case for the Dallas Cowboys or Cincinnati Bengals, but I happen to think that neither comes close to matching the broken dreams and dashed hopes that was the Vikings 2010 season.

We’re covering all 32 teams 2011 NFL Draft needs, bookmark it as we’re updating it often.

After an NFC Championship game appearance in the 2009 season, most expected the Vikings to at least make one more run at the Super Bowl in Brett Favre’s final season. And the result……a 6-10 disaster filled with ugly media scandals (Brett Favre), ugly quarterback play (Brett Favre), and ugly confrontations with the coaching staff (Brett Favre). Okay, so not everything that went wrong was Favre’s fault, but he was the poster boy for a disastrous and forgettable year.

Other problems included a midseason coaching change, Sidney Rice missing over half of the season (and being generally ineffective), the Randy Moss fiasco, and Adrian Peterson wearing down. In any case, new coach Leslie Frazier and the rest of the Vikings organization have some work to do in regards to addressing last year’s issues in the 2011 draft.

Quarterback – Quarterback remains the biggest issue going into 2011 for the Vikings with Favre retired, Tavaris Jackson as a likely casualty of Frazier’s new regime, and Joe Webb not even in consideration for the starting QB job. Whoever the Vikings draft, there’s a strong chance that it will be a Sam Bradford-type situation where they’re thrown into the fire immediately. With Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert likely gone by the time that the Vikings pick at number 12, candidates are Cam Newton or Jake Locker. Both of these quarterbacks have tremendous athleticism and running ability, both have tremendous arms, and both players are inconsistent passers who weren’t asked to make a whole lot of reads in college. The NFL Combine will shed some more light on which player the Vikings are leaning more towards.

Wide Receiver - If the Vikings can’t pay free agent Sidney Rice’s asking price, they’re definitely going to need help at wide receiver. Percy Harvin flourishes in the number two role, while Bernard Berrian just didn’t get the job done last year. Troy’s Jerrel Jernigan is one possibility if the Vikings decide to go for a small guy who can stretch defenses vertically. They might also opt for size in a later round, and could take somebody like Indiana’s Tandon Doss, who is 6’3″, 200 pounds, and doesn’t get jammed at the line of scrimmage easily.

Safety - This has been a weak spot for the Vikings ever since Darren Sharper left the team. This being said, there are plenty of safeties available in the middle rounds that the Vikes could scoop up. Iowa’s Tyler Sash is a fairly quick safety who can make it to deep balls, and sniff out running plays; he is definitely a prospect for the Vikings in the second or third round. Assuming the Vikings decide to address safety early, they could grab the best safety prospect available in DeAndre McDaniel. Aside from being fooled by play-action every now and then, McDaniel is a tremendous athlete that could shore up one of Minnesota’s safety spots.

Cornerback – The Vikes could benefit from adding another quality cornerback to their roster. Antonie Winfield is a good cover corner on one side of the field, so they could complete the equation by finding someone to replace Asher Allen, who was inconsistent in coverage last year. It’s unlikely that the Vikings will consider cornerback a pressing need, so they’ll be looking at mid-to-late round selections for talent. The Citadel’s Cortez Allen certainly fits the talented description since he hasn’t been playing football for long, yet shows solid instincts and even better athleticism. Assuming the Vikes want help now and don’t think that Allen is ready, Richmond’s Justin Rodgers is another good prospect that should be around in the 5th round.

Defensive End - Jared Allen is one of the top ends in the league, but his counterpart in Ray Edwards has indicated that he’ll be looking elsewhere as a free agent. If the Vikings decide to fill Edward’s spot through the draft, they’ll have a large pool to choose from since 2011 offers a talented group of defensive ends. Nebraska’s Pierre Allen is a nice middle round choice because he possesses a good mix of quickness and strength. If the Vikings go for a later DE pick, Oregon’s Brandon Blair has some value here since he explodes at the snap well, and has enough upper body strength to shed blockers and make tackles.

The Vikings have a lot of mini-needs coupled with their quarterback, safety, and wide receiver issues, so it will be interesting to see what positions they favor in the draft.

GET THE FULL CONTRACT UPDATE ON ALBERT PUJOLS HERE!

Can the St. Louis Cardinals afford to let Albert Pujols slip through the cracks? Could the St. Louis fanbase even fathom the notion of their beloved team without their adored first baseman?

Well considering that possibility could perhaps become reality, the Gateway City may well be facing a heavy aftershock of seismic proportions.

Team Chairman William DeWitt Jr. has already announced that they were unable to reach a deal with Albert Pujols, adding that he “…hopes that Pujols finishes his career in St. Louis.”

The ripple-effect of marquee players leaving for greener pastures is a situation that all teams—and their fans—inevitably have to deal with at some point:

Brett Favre to the Jets, and then to the Vikings of all teams; the irony of Mark Teixeira—California’s “Angel”—going to the evil empire known as the New York Yankees; and of course, the coup de grace, LeBron James leaving the deprived Cleveland area for the lavish life in Miami.

Well, move over boys, there’s a new coal burning on the hot stove and the media collective are waiting on bated breath for something—or someone—to give in St. Louis.

The news of Albert Pujols and his ongoing contract saga, shouldn’t be an antique headline. Contract talks, questions of Pujols even attending spring training, and even speculation of the MLBPA being involved have taken a stranglehold on just about every major sports site across the country.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Rumors of rival teams champing at the bit for Pujols’ upcoming free agency—such as the Chicago Cubs, and their “supposed” 10-year, $275 million deal just waiting on the table to be presented—have added just enough fuel to a fire already out of control.

But while the organization and the player, throw down negotiating “fisticuffs,” the St. Louis fanbase is caught in the cross fire.

Should Pujols Be Signed To A Ten Year Deal? Leave Your Answer Below.

The Cardinals’ organization and their faithful followers, have already been through the mire and back thanks to their current hitting coach—and previous adored first baseman—Mark McGwire.

As if that whole debacle isn’t enough, this team hasn’t even been to a World Series since 2006.

How possible would it be to get to the Fall Classic without the face of the franchise?

The purpose of this little piece isn’t so much to delve into who’s right and who’s wrong in this chronicle, but rather, what type of long-term effect it will have on this organization and their congruent fanbase—a fanbase that quite frankly has been through enough.

If Albert Pujols wants a long-term deal, then there should be no qualms about inking such a contract. Let us not forget, this is a player who bleeds Cardinal Red, and requests such a deal to ensure that he will be a part of this great city and their supporting cast for years to come—a difficult achievement in this modern day world of sports.

The aforementioned modern day of sports doesn’t always favor what is right, in regard to the player and the fans, but there always seems to be obvious exceptions that just make sense.

For instance: You should entertain signing Pujols to a 10-year deal; you should not entertain signing Colby Rasmus to a 10-year deal.

In the grand scheme of things, it is the opinion of this writer that Albert Pujols stays—no matter what the cost. Is that statement a bit premature, even made in haste? Perhaps.

But, there is little room to argue against this player’s stance, a player that has the right to possibly, one day, become an indelible mark in St. Louis Cardinal history.

In fact, it wasn’t even close as to who the most disliked player was since Roethlisberger more than doubled the number of votes that any other players received, which is pretty impressive considering fellow teammate James Harrison was in the mix.

Of course, there’s a silver lining in all of this because Roethlisberger is only the fourth most disliked player in the NFL overall behind Brett Favre, Michael Vick and Tom Brady. John Madden may have started the snowball effect hatred for Favre with his obvious crush on number 4, but Favre has managed to alienate everybody this year with his revealing text messages to Jenn Sterger.

It seems like Michael Vick is going to need a lot more than a “Comeback Player of the Year” tittle to win fans over after his dog fighting escapades. As for Brady, it appears that Super Bowl watchers side with Randy Moss in their locker room catfight over whether or not Brady’s hair makes him look like a girl.

Getting back to the Penn Schoen Berland poll on Super Bowl XVL, some other findings from the poll include:

- 78% of Americans are planning to watch the Super Bowl this year.
- 30% of people watch the Super Bowl to see the ads, not the game.
- 45% of Americans are hoping that the Steelers win, while 39% of fans hope that the Packers win (don’t ask me where the other 16% went). The Packers may be the team of the Aryan nation since the pool also revealed that a larger majority of Republicans and whites want the Packers to win, while a larger majority of non-whites and Democrats are pulling for the Steelers.
- Out of the Steelers, Packers, Bears and Jets, most fans voted that the Steelers vs. Packers would be the best matchup in the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl mania is guaranteed to gain a full head of steam as we get closer to February 6th, and while it may be a bit cliche, I thought what the world needed right now was another Top 10 Super Bowl list. Probably one of the most debatable topics in all of sports, this list is open for all of you to engage, react, and list what Super Bowl YOU think belongs on this list and why.

The thing about the Super Bowl is, there’s plenty of debate that can be put on the table: Who’s the best Super Bowl QB – RB – WR – clutch player – team…you name it, so by all means, don’t just talk about this list either, bring whatever debate you want to he table, we have all week.

In the meantime, however, I hope you guys enjoy the list I have created for you and their preceeding videos created by Super Bowl Memories. Now, without further ado, here is my Top 10 list of the greatest Super Bowls of All-Time. And remember, when you’re done be sure to leave your two cents below, or just spark up another debate and get the ball rolling.

Enjoy!

10. Super Bowl XIX: Today when we think of Joe Montana and Dan Marino we think of the All-Time greats. So imagine being the person who got to see the two battle it out in Super Bowl XIX. Lopsided by the second half, this matchup is still one of the best in history.

9. Super Bowl III: Super Joe and his historic “guarantee” will forever be ingrained in the annuals of football. It was almost unanimously decided that Joe Namath and the Jets had no chance against Johnny Unitas and the Colts (mainly due to Joe’s 49.2 completion rate and whopping 17 INTs on the season) but a guarantee is a guarantee. How many of you knew Don Shula was the coach of the Colts back then? How many of you knew that the Jest head coach Weeb Ewbank was the former coach of the Colts before being replaced by Shula before their historic meeting?

8. Super Bowl IX: The birth of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Super Bowl Dynasty began in 1975 with their hard fought victory over the Minnesota Vikings. This Super Bowl win was a prelude of things to come from one of the most storied franchises in football history. Led by quarterback Terry Bradshaw, RB Franco Harris, and WR Lynn Swan, the Pittsburgh Steelers would go on to play (and win) some of the most memorable games in Super Bowl history.

7. Super Bowl XXXI: The Green Bay Packers are also a team steeped in Super Bowl history and tradition (so fitting that the two franchises finally square off). And while we can mention Super Bowl I and II, it was Super Bowl XXXI that became one of the most memorable Super Bowls in Green Bay Packers history. Led by then pseudo-rookie Brett Favre, the Packers were considered underdogs in their matchup with the New England Patriots, but the rise of a football legend, and some good old fashion speed, was enough to bring the Lombardi Trophy home after a near 30 year wait.

6. Super Bowl XXV: With New York Giants QB Phil Simms sidelined for the Super Bowl, many felt the Giants were done for (and consequently many thought the Bills would actually pull off a Super Bowl win). The Giants were led by Otis Anderson, and QB Jeff Hostetler, but had a hard time against Thurman Thomas and the Buffalo Bills. It took one of the most climatic missed field goals in history to seal the Bills fate.

5. Super Bowl XXXVI: The St. Louis Rams—led by QB Kurt Warner and RB Marshall Faulk—entered into this matchup as heavy favorites, while the Patriots struggled just to get their QB Tom Brady awake after falling asleep in the locker room prior to the game. But during the game Brady and company were wide awake, and in one of the most thrilling Super Bowl matchups in Super Bowl history, the Patriots finally earned their first victory on Adam Vinatieri’s last minute field goal.

4. Super Bowl XXIII: It may have been Joe Montana’s third Super Bowl in his career, but it was a win that was three minutes away from being owned by the competition: the Cincinnati Bengals. In the closing moments of the game, Joe Montana orchestrated one of the best game winning drives in Super Bowl history (“The Montana Drive”) going 92 yards in 11 plays with a final TD to John Taylor.

3. Super Bowl XV: It was almost a given that the dominate NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles—led by Dick Vermeil and Ron Jaworski—were going to walk into Super Bowl XV and defeat the Oakland Raiders. But the magical season the Raiders were experiencing ended with the Raiders not only being crowned Champions, but also being crowned the first Wild-Card team to win a Super Bowl.

2. Super Bowl I: It may not be the best, but it was the first Super Bowl ever played setting the tone for decades of indelible memories, historic dynasties, and epic defeats. The Packers were favored, and rightfully so, but it was those pesky Kansas City Chiefs (formerly the Dallas Texans) led by Hank Stram—an innovative pioneer in his own right who helped in the creation of Gatorade and the 1970 AFL-NFL merger—gave the Pack something to think about early…but that was it. Vince Lombardi used the small passing game to overcome the stout defensive prowess of the Chiefs for the Packers very first Super Bowl victory.

Among the merger in 1970, it was this victory and Vince Lombardi himself that would be the fuel behind the design of the famous Lombardi Trophy (created by Tiffany & Co. and valued at over $50,000).

The Pittsburgh Steelers hold the most Vince Lombardi Trophies, with six. The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys are tied for second with five Vince Lombardi Trophies apiece. The New York Giants, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Washington Redskins, and Oakland Raiders are all tied for fourth with three apiece.

1. Super Bowl XXXIV: Many will argue that the upcoming Super Bowl will wind up being the best ever played. Others will argue that Super Bowl XLII was the best Super Bowl played in all of history. And still others will contest other Super Bowls are the best making this debate somewhat unending. For me, however, it was Super Bowl XXXIV.

Prior to their Super Bowl year, the St Louis Rams were a paltry 4-12, and nobody expected the 180 degree turnaround that happened that year. Dick Vermeil had finally put together a team that would give him his highly sought after precious.

Led by undrafted backup / Arena Football and NFL Europe quarterback, Kurt Warner, the Rams put together what is infamously known as the Greatest Show on Turf designed my OC Mike Martz.

On the other side of the field was the Tennessee Titans led by QB Steve McNair, RB Eddie George, and one of the leagues best defenses—a defense that had defeated these Rams earlier in the season.

In the Titans first Super Bowl appearance (only the second for the Rams) the Titans were riding the wave of beating the best team in the AFC at that time: The Jacksonville Jaguars, and were almost certain to come out on top.

But in a game that is typically decided by inches; this game was decided by one yard ending in probably the most dramatic ways ANY football game could possibly end; leaving Super Bowl XXXIV number one in my book.

So, what’s your top Super Bowl pick?
