  1. Peter says:

I have Reggie Bush, Kevin Smith, Ray Rice, and Darren McFadden and need 2 for my PPR league.
I’m inclined to go with Smith and Rice, but Bush could be big. Thoughts?

    • Kurt Turner says:

Bush and Smith – both will be PPR machines for you.. Bush with the greatest upside of course. He must stay healthy.

    • Rustyn Rose says:

Kurt and I agree on Bush, but I think the reason Bush will be big is because they play a weak Detroit defense. For that reason I don’t have a good feeling for Smith this week, because his defense will be on the field more than he will. I like Ray Rice against a putrid Kansas City defense.

    • Mike Sholty says:

I would start Bush and Rice no question with the amazing matchups they have this week. Each should earn 20+ points in a PPR league :)

  2. Kelly says:

I am hurting @ WR my two definite starters are welker and A gonz, after that I have hixon, Henry, and williamson. I have my eye on M Kelly, Cribbs, Bruce, and Clowney. Who would you pickup as the third WR?

    • Rustyn Rose says:

Welker and A-Gonz should have nice games. I like Chris Henry against a terrible Broncos pass defense, and my sleeper pick is Clowney. My feeling based on match-ups this week is 1) Henry, 2) Williamson, 3) Clowney.

    • Kurt Turner says:

The winner is Kelly! M Kelly – At 6’4 he was targeted multiple times in the zed zone during preseason. He is number 2 behind a WR 1 that is really a deep threat not the possession guy.

David Clowney didn’t win the No. 2 receiver job

Bruce – has no upside – Josh Morgan should lead the 49′s in WR points this year

Cribbs is in Cleveland, nuff said

      • Rustyn Rose says:

I like Kelly too, but not this week. Santana Moss has three 3 TD games and two of them came against the Giants. If any WR in Washington lights the G-men up, look for Moss in the stats column.

        • Kelly says:

Thanks, I’m a Texas fan and dreaded Kelly in college, so I have seen what he can do. I had a good gut feeling on him just wanted another opion. Thanks again

    • Chris Todish says:

Go get Malcolm Kelly! He will be a big target that Campbell NEEDS!

  3. Ray says:

I’m on a deifferent fence here and I like Hixon. Call me crazy , but I think the guy may emerge quicker than expected in an otherwise dismal collection of choices for Manning. Kelley, though, is a pretty good option as well.

  4. George says:

I have one empty running back spot right now, and I can put McFadden, Thomas, Bradshaw, Davis, and Williams. Who should I start?

    • Rustyn Rose says:

McFadden is facing a tough SD defense and will split carries.

Thomas may not play at all as he’s hurt. I think Mike Bell is a nice sleeper pick this week in his place.

I’m not big on starting back-ups like Bradshaw or Williams unless I’m forced to.

I assume Davis is James Davis, and even if he were the starter I’d be hard pressed to play him against the Vikings run defense.

So based on the names you gave me, I’d have to go with McFadden as he should be the starter, though if Thomas is declared healthy by Sunday morning, he’s my pick against a horrid Detroit defense.

      • George says:

Thanks, but isn’t Cadillac Williams considered the started now. Should I pick up Bell for just this week?

        • Rustyn Rose says:

Ah, thought you meant Ricky Williams. Cadillac is the supposed starter, but Ward, Graham AND Clifton Smith will all be getting turns. A 4-headed RBBC is something I’d try to avoid. More important is that Dallas had the 12th ranked run defense last season, so I don’t expect much when you split carries 3 or 4 ways.

    • Chris Todish says:

Bradshaw has one of the best offensive lines in the league, and I like him more than Ward behind Jacobs. This guy is truly going to show people who doubt him this year. Throw Bradshaw in (if you are thin at RB), because Jacobs will probably get hurt and Bradshaw will be the beneficiary.

  5. mabermud says:

#1.Of the following, who should I start in my flex position this weekend?

    Cedric Benson
    Felix Jones
    Leon Washington or
    Josh Morgan

    • Rustyn Rose says:

While I’m loathe to say it, Cedric Benson should have a solid opening game against a porous Denver run defense. He would be my start in a standard scoring league.

If you’re in a PPR league I’d go with Josh Morgan, who will get lots of looks against the Cardinals.

If your league gives you points for return yardage as well, I’d swap Washington and Morgan, as Washington will get receptions and return yards.

      • Mike Sholty says:

I just have a bad feeling that Benson is going to need like 30 touches to get 100 yards. What a bum.

      • mabermud says:

I play in a hybrid PPR league, the more receptions your team get, the more points you get. So…

        Leon Washington
        Cedric Benson
        Felix Jones or
        Josh Morgan

How do you guys feel about Donovan McNabb, should I pick up Vick?

Currently I have Jason Campbell as a back-up, I was thinking of grabbing Shaun Hill, what do you think?

        • Rustyn Rose says:

Personally I’m avoiding Vick, but that’s a gut call. I’d pick up Hill over Campbell. Hill had 15 TDs in 9 games last season, and he’s got the support of his coach, which is more than I can say for Campbell.

        • Rustyn Rose says:

That’s tough depending on whether it’s 10 or 25 return yards per point, but Washington will get some run touches and yards, some receptions, and he’s their primary return guy, so yes, I’d have to go with Washington then. Morgan has a chance to explode, but Washington has a more sure route to fantasy production under your league settings.

    • Chris Todish says:

Leon Washington, he is a monster flex starter!

  6. Jeff says:

    Cedric Benson or Ryan Grant?

  7. J D says:

What do you think about playing Shaun Hill instead of Matt Schaub

    • Kurt Turner says:

Hill has a nice match-up but you can’t start him over Schaub, to many weapons in Houston.

    • Mike Sholty says:

Keep in mind that Arizona gave up a league worst 36 TDs through the air last season. Hill played Arizona last season in his first game as a starter and did well fantasy wise. He threw 2 picks but he was still getting used to the starting gig…I expect better things out of him this time around.

The choice here isn’t as obvious as you would think…I feel like the pass rushers for the Jets are a lot better than the pass rushers for the Cards (Jets had 10 more sacks last year and 1 more interception). Remember, when Shaun Hill took over (same time as when Singletary took over) Hill was a top quarterback. I think as long as Hill is the starter, he will put up similar numbers to Schaub. Take a look at Hill’s numbers, they do not lie. 6 TDs in 3 games two years ago and 15 in 9 games last year. He’s just a victim to no playing time.

If you didn’t catch it from the above, I’d roll with Hill over Schaub this week but both are great plays.

      • Kurt Turner says:

        Hill = sleeper
        Schaub = starter

I start my starters over sleepers 99% of the time. It’s all about consistency and history.

        On the flip side…
Did you know you can control football games based on your fantasy roster? ITS TRUE. If you start Hill, then Schaub will blow up the house with 4 TD’s.. If you start Schaub then Hill will throw 4 TD’s. The only way to work this magic is to put Hill your line-up.. then 4 hours later put Schaub in.. The Sunday morning put Hill back in.. then right before the game put Schaub back in your line-up and maybe even go back to Hill. Doing so will ensure whoever ends up in your line up will do horrible.

    • Rustyn Rose says:

I can’t discount what Mike says, but Schaub has better weapons, and you drafted him to be your guy. You have to play him.

    • Chris Todish says:

I don’t think I would do that, don’t let what Hill did last year against Arizona fool you, he had Martz as an offensive co-ordinator! Martz gone = more running! He may get garbage time stats, but that’s about it. Be smart and start Schaub.

  8. eer2eternity says:

Who should I start in a standard league with 2 RBs & 3 WRs: Please select 1 RB and 1 WR.

    Felix Jones or Leon Washington?
    Jerricho Cotchery or Donald Driver?

    Thanks!

    • Rustyn Rose says:

Standard league I have to take Felix Jones. He has a better chance to make noise this week against the Bucs, and word is he will split playing time and not simply back Barber up.

On the receiving end, The Pack/Bears game should be a shoot out, and Driver is going to get a lot of looks and I’m guessing a TD to boot. Driver over Cotchery this week.

    • Chris Todish says:

Felix Jones and Donald Driver! Driver and Jones are key cogs in their respective teams plans.

  9. mabermud says:

    Devin Hester
    Knowshon Moreno or
    Felix Jones

    Hybird PPR league?

    • Mike Sholty says:

Knowshon Moreno looks to play this weekend. We all saw how often Orton dumped his passes to the RB, so Moreno could end up with 4-6 receptions. Hester is an all-or-nothing type player in my opinion and shouldnt be played until proven, especially against the new 3-4 defense the Pack are implementing (kind of like the colts). Felix Jones should get around 10 touches but I don’t think he can do much with those against Tampa Bay, which is strong against the run.

    • Rustyn Rose says:

Tough call on this one. Skip Moreno in week 1 because he won’t play much and has missed a lot of practice time.

The real question is Jones or Hester. Based on this week’s match-up I’d go with Hester. He’s got greater big play capability, and he will be one of Cutler’s primary targets in what is shaping up to be a high scoring game.

  10. Bill says:

I have to start 2 RB’s and I am already a little thin especially with Pierre Thomas out. Which 2 do I start out of Derrick Ward, Fred Jackson, Tim Hightower, and Donald Brown. Jackson seems a gimme to me but can’t decide on Ward or Hightower; is Brown worth it Week 1?
    Thanks

    • Kurt says:

      In this orders

      Fred Jackson
      Hightower
D Brown (ranked last because we haven’t even seem him this year and don’t know what the Colts will do with him)

  11. Ray Tannock says:

I would completely avoid Ward against the Cowboys defense. The RBBC alone spells limited Fantasy value for Ward, regardless of what he does. Don’t take a chance on Hightower either. last year he only garnered 35 total yards on 21 carries and the 49ers are a pretty tough team to run against. Donald Brown and Fred Jackson are the best choices out of the four.

  12. J D says:

I need 2 RBs since Pierre Thomas is injured I scooped up Mike Bell real quick and planning on playing him and Ray Rice. So should I play Mike Bells Or Chis Wells or Laurence Maroney

  13. Ray Tannock says:

Fred Jackson has been named opening day starter, so I wouldn’t count on too much production out of Maroney, and Chris Wells should sit week one since he has not fully recovered from his ankle injury yet—he’ll be a weekly option as time goes on , but not right now. Mike Bell is a clear choice for the start.

  14. Drew Farmer says:

I need a Flex pick this week. As it stands by starting line up is – RB: Forte, K.Smith – WR: Steve Smith (CAR), A. Gonzalez. For my flex I have to decide between Chris Wells, Tim Hightower, DeSean Jackson and Eddie Royal.

    • Ray Tannock says:

I like DeSean Jackson, he will also be returning punts Sunday which adds to his value if you get points for special teams TDs or punt return points.

    • Kurt says:

Eddie Royal – he is the #1 WR and Marshall is going to be Rusty

DeSean Jackson – Is another great option with a better QB. I’m just really big on Royal this year.

    • Rustyn Rose says:

If I had to choose one I’d take Royal over Jackson. The Broncos are running the offense through him, but I’d actually consider playing Jackson over Smith this week. But it’s hard to bench your starter.

    • Chris Todish says:

Royal or Jackson, either should be sufficient, I think Royal will touch the ball a ton this week.

  15. Bob says:

    1. One league I have to start Harvin, Morgan or Santana Moss as my WR3. NO PPR

    2. Other league I am up in the air about Barber or Turner to go with Rice. Again NO PPR

    3. Also Hasselback or Shaub in one league.

    4. Shaub or Romo in another.

Sorry for so many questions, but some of you guys have some great insight!

    Thanks

    • Ray Tannock says:

No need for apologies man, that’s what we’re here for.

      My take is this:

I like the play of Harvin considering how much the Vikes want to use him. he should be a cash cow for points.

I think Barber will have the best day out of the two choices. Tampa will have a world of trouble containing him.

Hasselback, at home, with Housh…nuff said there.

      Romo for sure.

      Hope this helps man!

    • Rustyn Rose says:

      Here’s my take:

      1. One league I have to start Harvin, Morgan or Santana Moss as my WR3. NO PPR

I think Morgan will have a huge game, so he’d be my pick. The only reason I’d consider Moss is 2 or his 3 triple TD games came against the Giants. Harvin needs to show us something before he gets on a roster.

      2. Other league I am up in the air about Barber or Turner to go with Rice. Again NO PPR

No PPR, Turner is the man. Barber is splitting carries with Jones

      3. Also Hasselback or Shaub in one league.

Normally I’d take Schaub, but this week, Hasslebeck

      4. Shaub or Romo in another.

      Romo, baby!

  16. Carlos says:

    Hi guys!!

    Need your help!

I have D Brown and L Washington as starters, bus was considering to grab Mike Bell from wire and start him over Brown or Washington… Thoughts????

    And most important:

I’ve been offered a trade and I get Brandon Marshall and Jonathan Stewart and give Lee Evans and Donald Brown.. what do you think??

Greetings from Mexico and thanks in advance

    • Rustyn Rose says:

Grab Bell if he’s still there. And I’d make that trade all day long. Marshall and Stewart are both upgrades.

    • Kurt Turner says:

I like Brandon Marshall and Jonathan Stewart

I’d start Washington and Bell – Brown is a huge ?? just how many carriers will he get?

    • Chris Todish says:

Marshall seems to be turning things around and Stewart is coming back to spell Deangelo (in a run-first offense), both had bad pre-seasons, so get’em while their stock is tumbling because they have elite ability. You could be getting two incredible targets in fantasy football. Brown and Evans are no slouches though.

  17. Ray Tannock says:

If you can fit Bell it would be an upgrade to washington for week one. Keep in mind, however, his frequency of play is resting on the severity of Thomas.

I personally like this trade. i think Marshall will score more than Evans will, and Stewart is 100% and should get 20-30 carries a game. Carolina’s schedule is a bit more difficult than Indianapolis, but not by much.

Just make sure if you DO make the trade, that you don’t have any holes in your roster going forward with the new bye weeks of Marshall and Stewart.

  18. Shawn Dugre says:

I stacked myself at wr and left my team weak at rb, I need to start 2 of these 3…Larry Johnson, Laurence Maroney or Ahmad Bradshaw.

  19. Gary says:

What do you think of Earl Bennett? I have him in multiple leagues and I think he will the #1 WR in Chicago. Do you start him against GB when I have more trusted WRs? Thanks!

    • Kurt Turner says:

I got good feelings about Earl however if you have proven options on your bench I’d use them untill Earl proves he and Jay are in rhythm.

    • Chris Todish says:

Don’t start Bennett until we see a full games production out of him, he isn’t a bad option though….so if your a gambler, then go for it! I like having proven commodities in my teams lineup, at least to start the season. When the season gets rolling and rolls (touches) are clearer, then it becomes easier to put these guys like Earl in your lineup.

  20. Dwayne says:

Should I start Lee Evans or Josh Morgan?

    • Chris Todish says:

Josh Morgan should see plenty of balls this week, but it will be interesting to see how Evans fares against single coverage. If this makes it easier… Morgan #1 WR, Evans #2 WR. If anyone is going to catch a TD pass in SF it should be Morgan. Owens makes Evans role slimmer, but it doesn’t kill his production altogether, and it helps to have two good WR’s. I think Morgan will be targeted more though.

    • Rustyn Rose says:

I agree with Chris, start Morgan over Evans in Week 1 for sure. Morgan is Hill’s go to receiver, and Evans faces an ugly match up against the Pats.

  21. Josh Lehnus says:

Need to start 3. Lee Evan, A Gonzales, Percy Harvin, or Roy Williams?? In a standerd league.

    • Chris Todish says:

I would start Evans, Gonzalez and Williams. Harvin is a good option, but these guys are your best bet in week 1 for production. I might not be saying this after a couple weeks though. If you are going to start Harvin, take Evans out over the other two. Roy Williams will get opportunities to make plays every week now, and Gonzo is just a Peyton throw away from some big stats.

      • Josh Lehnus says:

Thank you for anwering my ?. I have one more if u don’t mind. I have one flex spot. Harvin, Mccoy, or B Wells? I get more point for TD but also get points for lots of yards.

        • Rustyn Rose says:

My take; With Berrian out or not on the same page with Favre, I like Harvin. The team is committed to getting him involved in 20-30 plays. Well’s is the short yardage redzone guy, but Hightower gets all the yards, and the Cards are a passing team. McCoy is a nice temptation, but until we see how the Eagles are going to use him, he could be risky.

    • Rustyn Rose says:

Josh, I differ from Chris slightly on this one; Williams and Gonzo play for sure. I think this week, despite the fact that we haven’t see much from Harvin yet, Percy is your third guy, only because Bernard Berrian (if he does play) is not on the same page with Favre yet, while Harvin is. Evans has a tough match-up. The two combined push me towards Harvin in week 1.

  22. Josh Lehnus says:

Thank u for anwsering my?. I have one more. Have a flex spot. Harvin, Mccoy, or B Wells? I get more points for TD.

  23. Lucas says:

I’m in a very deep league, 16 teams, PPR, and it’s looking like Boldin isn’t going to play, so I’ve gotta scan the wire/bench for a replacement. Not looking for the highest risk/reward type guy, just a guy I can count on for about 5 catches and 50 yards, who do you recommend out of the list below?

    Camarillo or Bess
    Johnnie Lee Higgins
    Malcolm Kelly
    Andre Davis
    Bobby Engram
    Sidney Rice
    Chansi Stuckey

    THANK YOU

    • Rustyn Rose says:

If you get return yards too, I’d grab Higgins.

If not, in Week 1 I’d play Stuckey, Bess or Kelly.

Cribbs may already be taken, but if he’s available, I’d grab him.

    • Lucas says:

Yes, Cribbs is far gone! THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, I was leaning towards Stuckey, but thought I’d get a 2nd opin.

  24. Dwayne says:

In a ten team league, is Le’Ron McClain worth holding onto?

    • Rustyn Rose says:

Not to my mind. He’s playing fullback this year, and Rice is the go to guy, with McGahee stealing redzone touches. Short of an injury McClain is an after thought this season, especially in shallow 10 team leagues.

  25. HavocXT says:

    Help with recievers…..
I am in a 12 team league and am weak on WR.
Who should I start? I can choose 3
    Right now, I have
Starters…. T.O. Sidney Rice, Josh Morgon
Bench… Kevin Walter, Steve Breaston and Donnie Avery.

Also, as a second RB, should I start, Knowshon Moreno, Donald Brown or Mike Bell?
My first RB is Adrian Peterson so thats a given.
    Thank!!!!!

  26. HavocXT says:

One more, Shaub or Flacco starting this week?
    Thanks again.

  27. HavocXT says:

    Shaub or Flacco this week?

Flacco has a favorable match up but Shaub has potential to put up bigger numbers.

  28. Carlito Brigante says:

Need to start one Marshall, Holt, or Bowe? In a separate league I need to start one of Grant or Mike Bell?

    • Carlito Brigante says:

      Standard leagues no ppr

    • Alex Olson says:

I would definitely go with Bowe over Marshall and Holt. Bowe proved last year he can play with any QB and Marshall and Holt could be looking at chemistry issues early on.

Grant put up 145 yards at home vs Chicago last season so I would start him over Mike Bell since Bell may have more competition for carries.

    • Rustyn Rose says:

Tough one, my friend. Bowe is a go to guy and he hasn’t missed preseason like Marshall has. That said, the Ravens will key on his and shut Bowe down I think. Marshall will find a way to get his points every week. I think he stands a better chance. But this week, flip a coin between bowe and Marshall. Holt, nah.

  29. Lori says:

non PPR……..w/r……………….Lance Moore, Hightower or Fred Jackson?

  30. Blue says:

Starting Wayne/Mason. Need one more either Welker or Hester. Standard offensive scoring.

    Welker is questionable.

  31. Kate says:

Hey – One of my starting WRs is Marshall – what’re the thoughts on how much playing time he’ll get week 1? My backups are Hixon or Crayton, and if i dont think marshall’s gonna get a lot of field time first week because of injury/contract issues im considering playing hixon instead. the problem is there’s no definite answer about if he’ll play at all or how much time he’ll see. Thoughts?
    Much appreciated

    • Chris Todish says:

I would take my chances with Marshall, it won’t take long for McDaniels to figure out he is a huge mismatch for DB’s. Marshall comes with a risk, but has potential for big numbers against the Bengals. If you sit him and he lights the Bengals up, you will be kicking yourself for it. If you aren’t going to start him throw Hixon in your lineup.

    • Rustyn Rose says:

Kate- I agree with Chris. Marshall is an elite WR, and even with no team reps and his distractions, he’ll get his numbers every week.

  32. ablanco1 says:

First I’m in a standard league. My I have Pierre Thomas, Adrian Peterson, Mike Bell, and Leon Washington. Who should I start next to peterson; Bell or Washington?

Additionally, I have Cassel, Favre, and Garrard at QB. Favre or Garrard?

Finally I have Roy Williams, Marques Colston, Tedd Ginn Jr, and Muhsin Muhammed at WR. Ginn Or Muhammed??

    • Chris Todish says:

The RB you should start is Bell this week against the Lions, I think Bush has shown his worth at the goal-line and the Saints should be down there often.
I like Garrard over Favre, he was a top ten QB two years in a row and should be better this year with an improved offensive line. Plus he will probably have to throw against the Colts to keep up. Favre won’t be needed as much against Cleveland with Peterson behind him.
Muhammed vs. Ginn Jr, I think Ginn offers more big-play capability, and I am not over the Carolina playoff debacle! Delhomme couldn’t make plays with Williams and Smith on his team, I still can’t get over that performance! I don’t trust his No.2 WR over Miami’s No.1 WR. They will use Ginn to stretch Atlanta’s defense this week, and maybe we’ll see a wildcat package with his name on it.

  33. Bill says:

Need help in a 50/50 league

RB: Ryan Grant or Ray Rice

WR: Royal, Anthony Gonzales or Donnie Avery. I’m thinking that it is between Royal and Gonzo?

Thanks for staying up late and have a great Sunday

  34. Bill says:

Ina standard league who do I start at RB Ryan Grant or Ray Rice.

WR I need 1 of the 3: Royal, A. Gonzalez, or Donnie Avery

Thanks for staying up late and Have a great Sunday!
    Bill

    • Ray Tannock says:

Grant for sure. he’s healthy and itching to make a statement. I would go with Royal, against the Bengals’ poor coverage; Royal should have a nice day today.

    • Rustyn Rose says:

You want Grant in a standard league because he’s the main guy. Rice will lose redzone looks to McGahee. While I like Gonzo and Avery to have nice days, Royal is your guy.

  35. J D says:

Is this a good trade for me I’m BAD
BAD trades Hines Ward, Pit WR to CHAOS
TC trades Joseph Addai, Ind RB to Bois of Bane
TC trades Isaac Bruce, SF WR to Bois of Bane
TC trades Greg Camarillo, Mia WR to Bois of Bane

this is the rest of my team
    QB Shaun Hill, SF QB
    RB Ray Rice, Bal RB
    RB Mike Bell, NO RB
    RB/WR Hines Ward, Pit WR
    WR Randy Moss, NE WR
    WR Calvin Johnson, Det WR
    TE John Carlson, SeaTE
    D/ST Vikings D/ST, Min
    K John Kasay, Car K
    BENCH
    Bench Pierre Thomas*, NO RB
    Bench Matt Schaub, Hou QB
    Bench Chris Wells, Ari RB
    Bench Lee Evans, Buf WR
    David Garrard, Jac QB
    Shonn Greene, NYJ RB
    Laurence Maroney NE RB

    • Rustyn Rose says:

I’m not sure if this is a PPR league or not but I’m not sure that I see how this really helps you. Addai could surprise and be a serviceable number 3 RB this year. He looked good yesterday, but is he an upgrade over Beanie Wells or the potential of Shonn Greene? The fact that he’s throwing in trash like Bruce and Camarillo is a sign that he’s trying to make the deal look better than it is. Seldom do you win in trades like this. Ultimately it comes down to Addai for Ward, and I’d pass on that. You need an upgrade at RB, not a downgrade at WR. Pass on this one.
