Week 13 WR Rankings: Megatron or Wes Welker?

I’m baaaack! Hopefully my esteemed colleagues geared you kids in the right direction in Week 12, and many thanks to them for helping out last week.

If anyone took a gander at the Week 12 box scores, you will have noticed a ton of receivers who had very limited work (Megatron, what happened?), outside of a select few such as Wes Welker who lit the Eagles up like a Christmas tree. The average seemingly topped out at around 3 to 4 catches per receiver, and overall output was lower than usual this week, making Week 12 an obviously very unpredictable week.

This week, however, there are a few matchups scheduled that are sure to help your fantasy football player bounce back from perhaps a mediocre Week 12.

Let’s take a look!

  1. Wow surprised with how high you rank Plaxico….I mean he has been money as of late but who do I bench in my situation….

Plaxico, Brandon Marshall, Brandon Lloyd, Jordy Nelson…

I can use 3 because at RB it’s slim pickins.

  2. No Boldin?

  3. Antonio brown near the 40 mark… with the way hes playing and news hes been promoted to starter…i think he should be about 15

    • Ray Tannock

Well that’s not enough reason to just jump him all the way up to 15. Brown is a lock as a WR3 in Pittsburgh’s system right now, which is good for his owners, but he squares off against a very good Bengals defense this week, which limits his overall potential output. His next three weeks aren’t that great either.

  4. Surprised about the Burress ranking myself. Which three would you start out of:
Burress, Wallace, Fitzgerald, Crabtree, Mike Williams (TB).

    • Ray Tannock

Remember that these rankings are cumulatively created, and each person’s individual league setup must be taken into account.

      What is your setup?

  5. Have a slew of Wide Recievers and need to start 2 and Flex 1:

Dez Bryant, Deion Branch, Jordy Nelson, Steve Smith (Carolina), Victor Cruz and DeSean Jackson – Standard Scoring League – going with Nelson, Smith and Cruz at the moment but could see Branck having a good day against the Colts…

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  6. I have what I consider five studs at WR on one of my rosters.

    Wes Welker
    AJ Green
    Marques Colston
    Laurent Robinson
    and Antonio Brown

Except for Welker, I think they are all interchangeable depending on the matchup. With Pittsburgh facing a Leon Hall-less Cincinnati secondary, I think Brown (who’s outtargeting Wallace the last month) tallies up quite a few points this week. And Robinson, against Arizona (who’ll have to put eight in the box against Murray), I think also has a good week.

I’m sure Colston and Green get their points, too, but their matchup isn’t as great. Besides Welker, do you suggest I play MC and AJG over LR and AB?

    • Ray Tannock

      What is your point setup?

      • 6 pts for a receiving TD, 1 pt for every 10 yds receiving

        • Ray Tannock

I would go with AJG and MC with Welker.

Laurent Robinson may not produce as much now with the news of Miles Austin returning to the lineup, and Antonio Brown faces a tough Bengals D with or without Leon Hall.

if the Steelers jump out early on Cincy, which is possible, the Bengals will be in catchup mode which could also bode well for Green owners.

Sometimes, the matchup AND the potential situation both become factors.

          Hope this helps!

So you’re disagreeing with other sites that appear to be telling me to bench guys like V-Jax and Andre in favor of Antonio Brown as a WR3 in a non-PPR league to go with Megatron/Jordy as my WR1/WR2? Considering Brown’s consistency and the other “studs” potential to explode, can you elaborate for me?

    • Sure. Do you want me to elaborate on why I am not writing or suggesting what other sites are, because that’s easy…I’m not a trend follower.

To be more specific, I believe V-Jax and Andre will have good games this week, while brown does face a chance of being shut down by Cincy.

Hope this helps, and whomever you start, good luck to you.

Need to win this week to make the playoffs.
I have the following WR’s and I get to start 3
Which 3 do you think Ray?

    Roddy White
    Brandon Marshall
    Torrey Smith
    Steve Smith (CAR)

    Thanks for the help Ray!!!
