Week 14 QB Rankings: Can Drew Brees Make It Four In a Row?
Posted by Ray Tannock on Dec 7, 2011 in Fantasy Football, Fantasy Football Rankings
Despite being slightly edged this week in the rankings Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been lighting things up over the past month, but more importantly, he hasn’t thrown a pick in three straight games—can he make it four in a row?
In other quarterback news, it is being reported that Kyle Orton hasn’t been officially ruled out, and many expect he—NOT Tyler Palko—to start this week against the Jets’ elite secondary…good luck with that Mr. Orton.
Let’s take a look at where everyone else fell this week in the rankings, and be sure to leave your questions below if you have them.
I will also be available in our Forum Thursday+ Friday between 5pm and 8pm, and again on Saturday starting at 10am (all EST), so I hope to see you there.
| QB Rank | Player Name | Team | Player Notes | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Aaron Rodgers | GB | Should have another fantasy leading day against Oakland's suspect secondary. | |
| 2 | Drew Brees | NO | Brees hasn't thrown an INT in his last four games, but TEN could pick him at least once. | |
| 3 | Tony Romo | DAL | Could be this week's shootout of the week | |
| 4 | Tom Brady | NE | A nice play here, but no better than 4. | |
| 5 | Ben Roethlisberger | PIT | ||
| 6 | Eli Manning | NYG | ||
| 7 | Matthew Stafford | DET | Minnesota's secondary is banged up, but the Vikings are a sneaky bunch on defense. | |
| 8 | Cam Newton | CAR | Newton was picked three times in his last outing against the Falcons. | |
| 9 | Philip Rivers | SD | ||
| 10 | Mark Sanchez | NYJ | ||
| 11 | Matt Ryan | ATL | ||
| 12 | Carson Palmer | OAK | Green Bay's secondary has improved a little bit, but Palmer should be able to exploit them just the same. | |
| 13 | Vince Young | PHI | ||
| 14 | Tim Tebow | DEN | ||
| 15 | Ryan Fitzpatrick | BUF | ||
| 16 | Joe Flacco | BAL | ||
| 17 | Alex Smith | SF | Golden opportunity here for Smith owners to take advantage of a team he shredded for 267 yards and 2 TDs last time. | |
| 18 | Christian Ponder | MIN | ||
| 19 | Josh Freeman | TB | ||
| 20 | Andy Dalton | CIN | ||
| 21 | Matt Moore | MIA | ||
| 22 | Dan Orlovsky | IND | Not a bad option. | |
| 23 | Sam Bradford | STL | ||
| 24 | Matt Hasselbeck | TEN | ||
| 25 | Kyle Orton | KC | The Chiefs haven't yet ruled out Orton, and I suspect he will start against the Jets. | |
| 26 | Blaine Gabbert | JAC | ||
| 27 | Tarvaris Jackson | SEA | ||
| 28 | Colt McCoy | CLE | ||
| 29 | John Skelton | ARI | ||
| 30 | Rex Grossman | WAS | ||
| 31 | Caleb Hanie | CHI | ||
| 32 | Taylor Yates | HOU | ||
| 33 | Matt Leinart | HOU |

R.Grossman is available in both of my leagues and was thinking of going with him this week against the Pats who gave up 30+ points to VY and Orlovsky. I have Big Ben and M.Moore in one and A.Smith and M.Moore in the other (due to injuries to Schaub,Cassel,and Leinart) would you recommend me staying away from him because you have him at 30th?
And we only start 1 QB.
Grossman over Big-Ben? No. Grossman over Alex Smith? No.
It’s a tasty matchup, I know, but both Smith and Big-Ben are better options at the skill level and matchup level as far as I’m concerned.
Would you start Vick, Big Ben or Matt Ryan this week? Cleveland good secondary and bad against run so doubting Big Ben numbers.
Cleveland is pretty beat up right now in their secondary and Big-Ben is on a roll, I really believe he is going to play better than most think.
Mike Vick did make two practices in a row, but it’s only Thursday, so I am a little bit tentative about recommending him over your options right now.
I would go with Big-Ben
It’s playoff time, which QB do I start?
Tebow vs. Chicago
Palmer vs. Green Bay
Dalton vs. Houston
Young vs. Miami – if Vick doesn’t play
