Week 15 IDP Rankings- LB: Start Ray Lewis and Jerod Mayo
Posted by Tom Digliani on Dec 14, 2011 in IDP Fantasy Football, IDP Rankings
Hopefully you survived the first week of your fantasy playoffs and are moving on this week. If you did and you own either Ray Lewis or Jerod Mayo then make sure to start them this week. They currently rank 5th and 10th in our Week 15 LB Rankings.
It looks like Lewis is finally going to be able to come back this week. He has a primetime game on National TV against a team that allows the 3rd most points per game to LBs. Expect Ray-Ray to come back in a big way just in time to help your playoff team.
Jerod Mayo is also a must start. He is rounding back into form after early season injuries and he now has 16 tackles, three passes defensed and two interceptions in the past two games. Combine this with his matchup against the run-heavy Broncos and he could be in for a nice game.
| LB Rank | Player Name | Vs | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | London Fletcher | NYG | Takes over #1 this week as the old man keeps trucking along |
| 2 | D'Qwell Jackson | AZ | |
| 3 | James Laurinaitis | CIN | |
| 4 | Patrick Willis | PIT | Risky play since he plays on Monday Night, but he should have a nice game if he can give it a go |
| 5 | Ray Lewis | SD | Welcome back this week? Solid matchup if so |
| 6 | Derrick Johnson | GB | |
| 7 | Colin McCarthy | IND | Has become the present and the future in the middle for the Titans |
| 8 | Paul Posluszny | ATL | |
| 9 | D.J. Williams | NE | |
| 10 | Jerod Mayo | DEN | Catching fire at just the right time |
| 11 | Curtis Lofton | JAX | Very disappointing game last week. Should rebound against MJD |
| 12 | David Hawthorne | CHI | |
| 13 | Nick Barnett | MIA | |
| 14 | Navorro Bowman | PIT | Has not had a great game in the past couple weeks and is overdue |
| 15 | Karlos Dansby | BUF | |
| 16 | James Anderson | HOU | 17 total tackles last week shows what he is capable of |
| 17 | Daryl Washington | CLE | |
| 18 | Brian Cushing | CAR | |
| 19 | Lance Briggs | SEA | The stats say Sea is a bad matchup for opposing LBs. Something in my gut tells me Briggs is going to have a great game regardless |
| 20 | Sean Weatherspoon | JAX | |
| 21 | Jamar Chaney | NYJ | |
| 22 | Brian Urlacher | SEA | |
| 23 | Pat Angerer | TEN | Gutted it out on a bad knee and played a solid game last week. Should do the same this week |
| 24 | Chad Greenway | NO | |
| 25 | Stephen Tulloch | OAK | |
| 26 | Lawrence Timmons | SF | Showing glimpses of his old self |
| 27 | Demarcus Ware | TB | |
| 28 | D.J. Smith | KC | Likely to get another start in place of the injured Desmond Bishop |
| 29 | Sean Lee | TB | |
| 30 | Von Miller | NE | Should make it back this week and continue wreaking havoc against Brady |
| 31 | Rey Maualuga | STL | |
| 32 | David Harris | PHI | |
| 33 | Kelvin Sheppard | MIA | Had a very nice 14 tackle effort last week and is trying to repeat that |
| 34 | Kevin Burnett | BUF | |
| 35 | Jonathan Vilma | MIN | Matchup looks nicer with AP coming back |
| 36 | Rolando McClain | DET | |
| 37 | Perry Riley | NYG | |
| 38 | Donald Butler | BAL | Stil hobbled and only managed 2 stops last week. Risky play |
| 39 | Daryl Smith | ATL | |
| 40 | Mason Foster | DAL | |
| 41 | E.J. Henderson | NO | |
| 42 | DeAndre Levy | OAK | Oakland should run Bush a lot and Levy will need to help slow him down |
| 43 | Michael Boley | WAS | |
| 44 | Thomas Howard | STL | |
| 45 | Clay Matthews | KC | |
| 46 | Brian Orakpo | NYG | The Giants did a nice job handling Ware last week. Can they handle Orakpo as well this week? |
| 47 | Jordan Senn | HOU | |
| 48 | Takeo Spikes | BAL | |
| 49 | Paris Lenon | CLE | |
| 50 | Leroy Hill | CHI | Had been playing at a high level until he disappointed this week. Can he rebound against the run-happy Bears? |
| 51 | Wesley Woodyard | NE | |
| 52 | James Harrison | SF | Suspended? Appealing? Playing? Too risky for me |
| 53 | DeMeco Ryans | CAR | |
| 54 | Larry Grant | PIT | Great fill-in but only if Willis sits again |
| 55 | Desmond Bishop | KC | Likely out for another week |

need some advice, which two should I start this week: Pat Angerer, Derrick Johnson, James Anderson, Colin McCarthy, or Jason McCourty
Tough call. First guy I’d rule out is McCourty. He is coming back from injury and there is no need to push him against the lowly Colts. Colts are also middle of the pack in pts allowed to LBs.
Next I’d rule out Angerer. He has been hobbled and the Titans give up the 2nd fewest pts to fantasy LB.
James Anderson is not as high in my rankings, but he is playing a Texans team that is running a lot and gives up top-15 pts to LBs. I’d start him.
That leaves the last spot between Derrick Johnson and Colin McCarthy.
The Colts give up the fewest pts in the league to LBs so that sucks for McCarthy, but DJ is playing a Packers team that gives up the 3rd fewest pts to LBs. Tough call.
My gut says you play two of Anderson, Johnson and McCarthy.
It is a toss up.
I’d probably go with Johnson and Anderson but I cannot fault you with whatever you decide.
thanks yea those were the two i was leaning towards….johnson has been consistent every week of putting up at least 10 points and anderson is coming off a 30 point game and houston runs so much
