"Welcome to the bright lights, baby..."
If the NBA playoffs started today the New York Knicks would be the number six seed; a situation that hasn’t happened since 2004.
They would wind up playing the Chicago Bulls; a team they have already beaten twice this year—both times by eight points.
But with the arrival of Carmelo Anthony, New York's lights just got a whole lot brighter.
If you take a quick look at the potential lineup change it will probably look something like this:
PG Chauncey Billups
SG Landry Fields
SF Carmelo Anthony
PF Amare Stoudemire
C Ronny Turiaf
Not a bad lineup if you ask me, especially when you’re fighting for a playoff spot nearly every night.
The Knicks are a far more aggressive team than that of the Nuggets averaging fifth-most shots in the league thanks to Mike D’Antoni’s hostile offense, so it is safe to say that Anthony could see an increase in his numbers both in assists and shots taken.
That’s even welcome news for fantasy basketball fans, but I would hold off from plugging him into your lineup until he passes his physical.
But for New York the court just got better, the horizon brighter, and the postseason push a little easier. Even Jay-Z will be happier “sittin court-side” wit Melo in town, and might even be singing this little ditty all over again before we know it:
