Vladimir Guerrero was one of the more intriguing players to profile in 2010, and much of that remains the same for the upcoming 2011 fantasy baseball season. Making a move to the friendly hitting confines of Arlington afforded owners of Vlad a little bit of the unexpected.
Vladimir Guerrero hit an impressive .300/.345/.496 with and even more impressive 29 homeruns, 115 RBI and only 60 SO. He even chalked up an .841 OPS…heck the old boy even stole 4 bases.
Now, Vlad plays in another hitter friendly place located on the other side of the country in Camden Yards, for a team that has upgraded just a bit: The Baltimore Orioles.
But does that mean he is worth a consideration in your draft?
In Mixed 5x5 leagues and Yahoo type leagues, you’ll be happy to know that Vlad is ranked number one among DH hitters, and sixth in AL only formats. His current ADP is 187 and while it’s still a bit early to speculate, that’s still a lot of value for a number one ranked DH hitter towards the back end of your draft.
Keep in mind that Camden Yards is very accommodating to both left and right-handed hitters, and with players such as Derrek Lee, Mark Reynolds and J.J. Hardy to work with, Vlad is sure to keep similar numbers to those he posted in 2010.
Projected Stats: .291/.332/.489 – 25 HR – 105 RBI – 80 R
