Dallas Cowboys Sign 23 Undrafted Rookie Free Agents

After this year's 2014 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys were able to come to terms with 23 rookie free agents that went undrafted.  Here are the position break downs that the Cowboys signed:

  • 5 offensive linemen
  • 3 defensive linemen
  • 3 defensive backs
  • 2 tight ends
  • 2 running backs
  • 2 wide receivers
  • 2 linebackers
  • 1 quarterback
  • 1 fullback
  • 1 punter
  • 1 long snapper

 Offensive Linemen

Brian Clarke, OG, 6-2, 305, 5.1, Bloomsburg

  • Very good size and speed ratio
  • Made 38 career starts
  • Part of an offensive line that was ranked 5th in nation in rushing
  • Blue collar type player
  • Extremely aggressive and leads by example
  • Could play center as well

Ronald Patrick, OG, 6.1, 308, 5.32, South Carolina

  • Reliable run blocker
  • Consistent performer that could be a diamond in the rough
  • Played RG while at South Carolina

Jarrod Pughsley, OT, 6.5, 308, 5.31,  Akron

  • Versatile starting experience at both tackles and at guard
  • Anchored an offensive line that only gave up two sacks per game last season

Josh Aladenoye, 6.6, 324, 5.25,  Illinois State

  • Solid run blocker
  • Plays with a mean streak
  • Transferred from Oklahoma

Andre Cureton, OT, 6.5, 311, 5.24, Cincinnati

  • Versatile:  Played guard for Cincy

Defensive Linemen

Chris Whaley, DT, 6.3, 269, 5.02, Texas

  • Serious durability issues, injured his knee in November that ended his collegiate career
  • Needs to gain weight, would be best around 290
  • Fights through whistle, very coachable, competitive
  • Will not be able to participate in rookie minicamp

Davon Coleman, DT, 6.1, 286, 5.25, Arizona State

  • Versatile, has played tackle and end in college
  • 8.5 sacks in 2013
  • Very good pursuit skills

Joe Windsor, DE, 6.0, 241, 4.83, Northern Illinois

  • He must transition to a 4-3 LB
  • Can help on special teams as well
  • 32 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss, not much production

Defensive Backs

Ryan Smith, FS, 6.1, 195, 4.53, Auburn

  • Prototype size and speed
  • 68 tackles, 3 INT, 4 passes broken up
  • Should be able to help on special teams as well

Marvin Robinson, FS, 6.1, 196, 4.64, Ferris State

  •  Needs to get faster
  • Can help on special teams
  • Transferred from Michigan
  • 89 tackles, 1 INT in 2013

Jocquel Skinner, CB, 6.1, 182, 4.53,  Bethel

  • Prototype size and speed for CB
  • Can help on special teams as well
  • 5 INT in 2012

Tight Ends

Jordan Najvar, TE, 6.6, 256, 4.86, Baylor

  • Only 10 catches in 2013
  •  3 year starter
  • Bruising blocker with soft hands
  • Could possibly be transferred into an OT

Evan Wilson, TE, 6.6, 253, 4.86, Illinois

  • Superb pass blocker
  • 6 catches in 2013

Running Backs

Glasco Martin, RB, 6.0, 217, 4.64, Baylor

  • Prototype size, his speed is close
  • Only 120 carries last year, should have lots of tread left on his tires
  • Not much receiving experience either
  • Could bulk up and be a fullback
  • Have just cut him to make room for Ryan Williams

Ben Malena, RB, 5.8, 194, 4.61, Texas A & M

  • Too small to be an every down RB
  • An all purpose third down back, can run and catch the ball and return kicks
  • Hardworking, highly respected, team-first leader

Wide Receivers

L’Damian Washington, WR, 6.4, 195, 4.38, Missouri

  • Very good size and speed ratio
  • Can also return kicks
  • Team Captain at Missouri
  • Speed merchant with raw catching skills

Chris Boyd, WR, 6.4, 206, 4.73, Vanderbilt

  • Caught 50 passes for 774 yards in 2012
  • Dismissed from team in 2013 because of a rape investigation
  • Good hands to catch off his body

Linebackers

Dontavis Sapp, LB, 6.3, 234, 4.66, Tennessee

  • Very good size and speed ratio
  • Will help on special teams
  • 66 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 4 passes broken up

Keith Smith, LB, 6.0, 233, 4.98, San Jose State

  • Needs more speed
  • Tackle machine in college, averaged 13 tackles a game
  • Team Captain

Quarterback

Dustin Vaughan, QB, 6.5, 235, 4.95, West Texas A & M

  • Led nation in passing yards and passing touchdowns
  • Developmental dink and dunk passer
  • Has all the intangibles you want in a QB

Fullback

J.C. Copeland, FB, 5.11, 271, 4.9, LSU

  • Could play DT as well
  • primary fullback at LSU
  • has been called a human sledgehammer
  • caught 4 passes last year

Punter

Cody Mandell, 6.2, 216, 4.89, Alabama

  • 14 of 39 punts went for 50+ yards in 2013
  • Good hands, adjusts to ball well
  • Experienced, 4 year starter
  • Very good coverage outlet, good athlete

Casey Kreiter, 6.3, 251, 5.03, Iowa

  • Primary deep snapper for 3 years at Iowa
  • Team Captain
  • 1 tackle last year in 12 games
