The NFL has released their regular season schedule and the Eagles will have their work cut out for them to retain their NFC East crown in 2014.
The Eagles kick off their season at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Early reports from the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino heavily favor the birds. The Eagles are the only double-digit betting favorite for the opening week of the season, with an 11-point spread. Week 3 will feature the return of DeSean Jackson and the Washington Redskins to the city of brotherly love. “Oh yeah, twice,” Jackson said of playing the Eagles this year, via CSNPhilly.com. “Two times, not once, twice. I’m sure those two games, there’s gonna be something special about those two games, for sure. I gotta definitely go up on that.”
The Eagles will travel to Dallas for a NFC East grudge match on Thanksgiving, only to square off with the Cowboys 2 weeks later in Philadelphia. Four of the last five games are against division opponents, including the final three. The NFC East could very well be decided in the final weeks of the season. Four of the regular season matchups will be against division champs from last year. The Eagles will face Green Bay, Indianapolis, Carolina and Seattle, who happened to win the Super Bowl if you hadn't heard.
There is no doubt that the Eagles will be challenged this year. Can Chip Kelly pick up where he left off, or has the NFL started to figure out the Eagle offense. September 7th can't get here soon enough.
