Well, well, well. Week 5 brought with it an apparent return to normal as I hit on 9 out of 12 potential value choices including the good (Jay Cutler) to phenomenal (Josh McCown) QB calls. I’m off McCown this week however, as he faces my “use them every week” pick of the Broncos D/ST. Who else makes the list in week 6? Let’s find out below in my complete list of Fanduel & Draftkings value picks.
Week 6 Quarterback Value Picks
- Andy Dalton - CIN - DK: 5700 FD: 7600
The Red Rocket has been nothing short of astounding thus far in 2015, and I expect it to continue in week 6. The way to beat the Bills is through the air, and Buffalo is giving up over 17 FPPG to opposing passers. A $5700 salary on draftkings seems almost criminal for fantasy’s number one overall point-scorer (non-ppr) through five weeks. - Jay Cutler - CHI - DK: 5200 FD: 7500
I much prefer Cutler on Draftkings than Fanduel, where his salary is again well below his potential. Detroit seemed to have given up in the second half against the Cardinals last week and that sort of attitude will not serve them well against a hard-playing, suddenly re-energized Chicago team that has won two in a row. Moreover, Cutler is likely to have both Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal back in the lineup and available. - Colin Kaepernick - SF - DK: 5000 FD: 7300
Kaepernick’s price is way too high on Fanduel, but I love him at 5000 on Draftkings. Kaepernick will be at home against the team that has been the absolute worst in the league in points allowed to opposing Quarterbacks, the Baltimore Ravens, and has two weapons at receiver that are likely to feast on a weak Ravens secondary in a “revenge game” -- Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith. Definitely more of a tournament play, Kaepernick at 5000 should have a nice week and be well worth the low price tag.
Week 6 Running Back Value Picks
- Duke Johnson - CLE - DK: 4500 FD: 5900
Looking around the price range, I like Duke on both sites but love his comparative value on Fanduel. Denver has been a brutal defense to go up against, but Duke is employed when the Browns are down and/or in passing situations, which I expect to be the case for most of the game this weekend. It’s not a fantastic matchup, but in a strange way that could benefit Johnson’s snap count, which benefits his owners in DFS. - Theo Riddick - DET - DK: 3300 FD: 5000
My Riddick love stems only from the fact that both sites award points for catches. He’s the Lions de facto number one receiver, with 30 catches through five games… that’s a season-long pace of 96 total catches, which approaches the record Matt Forte set last season. Against a still-suspect (though improving) Bears defense, and in a game where I expect Detroit to be down, Riddick is a decent play for the money.
Week 6 Wide Receiver Value Picks
- Eric Decker - NYJ DK: 4900 FD: 6100
Matchup, matchup, matchup. And the Jets offense isn’t nearly as bad as it has been in recent years. Decker has scored a touchdown in every game he’s played in thus far, including one he left early due to injury. Washington’s secondary is thoroughly bad and Brandon Marshall can’t catch all the passes. An arguable steal at less than 5k. - Rishard Matthews - MIA DK: 4200 FD: 6300
In weeks 2 and 3, the Titans gave up an average of over 150 yards and 2 scores to opposing WRs. In weeks 1 and 5, against the Buccaneers and Bills, respectively, they gave up only 75 yards. Which Titans defense will show up this weekend? I’m banking on the former. While Matthews is coming off a terrible week 4 performance in London, I suspect a lot of people will fade him this week in favor of more trendy picks. A nice sleeper who started off the year with a bang and could revert to that hot streak this week. - Anquan Boldin - SF DK: 4300 FD: 6500
See Kaepernick, Colin.
Week 6 Tight End Value Picks
- Larry Donnell - NYG DK: 2800 FD: 5300
Why is he seriously only 2800 on Draftkings? What am I missing? Especially with both Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham Jr. both battling hamstring issues, Donnell should be heavily involved. If one of the Giants starting WRs is out, I like him even more, if both are, he’s a must-play. - Antonio Gates - SD DK: 4600 FD: 5500
I think he’s still cheap enough to use on both sites and he obviously hasn’t missed a step after sitting out the first four weeks. I like him as both a target monster and an endzone threat.
Week 6 Defense
Come on, just play the Broncos already. Okay? Okay. If you insist on a cheap one, I could see the Vikings (2900/4900) or Bears (2400/4300) also being interesting plays, though I’m not trusting them in 50/50s.
Best of luck again. As always you can tweet me @pkaragianis
