Buster Olney of ESPN Insider and ESPN Magazine has confirmed that the San Francisco Giants have called up Buster Posey making Posey the first of the phenom rookie prospects to be called to the majors.
Giants beat writer Andrew Baggarly reported the speculation yesterday, but could not confirm anything—now we know it to be true.
So what do you do?
Well, running out and snatching him up —if he is still available—would be a good start and after that, immediately putting him into your lineup may be highly beneficial since the Giants face Colorado, Pittsburgh, Oakland, Baltimore, and Houston within the next month to name a few teams.
With Bengie Molina struggling (hitting just .203 in May and is currently the owner of a 19 game streak WITHOUT an RBI) one has to believe he will be fitted into the mix of Catcher, but let us not forget Posey has been playing a lot of first base as well.
Posey is hitting .342/.442/.552 with 6 HR and 32 RBI in Triple-A Fresno and is likely to resemble players like Mark DeRosa and Ty Wigginton in the sense that he should come with added eligibility (1B, C and possibly 3B depending on what Bochy does with the lineup)
