Two months into their first NHL season and these rookies are showing that they could be a regular provider. Sergei Bobrovsky has started 20 games for the Philadelphia Flyers and put up 13 wins, a GAA of 2.23 and SV% of 0.924. The youngest player in the NHL is Carolina Hurricanes Jeff Skinner who has eight goals and 20 points in 25 games to lead all rookies in scoring. The Edmonton Oilers young guns Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall have brought excitement back to Edmonton. Eberle has five goals and 18 points while Hall has eight goals and 16 points. Kevin Shattenkirk was called up to replace an injured player and quickly jumped to the scoring lead for all rookie defensemen. Shattenkirk has four goals and 12 points in 14 games. These players along with the likes of Logan Couture, Derek Stepan, Tyler Ennis, John Carlson and Cam Fowler is a group of rookies who have the potential to be one of the best rookie group in a long time
Fantasy Hockey Schedule Week 10:
- Four Games: Anaheim, Dallas, Detroit, San Jose, Toronto and Washington
- Three Games: Atlanta, Boston, Buffalo, Calgary, Colorado, Columbus, Edmonton, Florida, Minnesota, Montreal, Nashville, New Jersey, NY Rangers, Ottawa, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Vancouver
- Two Games: Carolina, Chicago, Los Angeles, NY Islanders, Phoenix and St. Louis
When it comes to dressing your players for the upcoming week, especially your goalies, it is important to know which team is on a long road trip and which team is enjoying an extended period at home. Listed below are the teams that play at least three home/away games this week or play all their games at home or on the road (home/road records up to December 4, 2010):
- HOME: Boston (5-5-2), Detroit (10-1-2), Edmonton (3-6-1), Los Angeles (9-2-0), Phoenix (5-3-3), St. Louis (8-2-1) and Washington (12-1-1)
- AWAY: Carolina (5-6-2), Colorado (6-5-2), Dallas (6-5-0), Minnesota (4-5-1), San Jose (5-5-2) and Tampa Bay (8-7-1)
If you participate in any type of head-to-head hockey pool then you are likely dressing a lineup for each scoring period, which usually ends on Sunday. As the week comes to an end and you find yourself in a close battle for those wins you want as many players as possible playing for you. Here are the teams that play on Sunday (record for Sunday games up Week 9):
- Anaheim (2-2), Edmonton (3-1), Minnesota (1-0), NY Rangers (2-1), Vancouver (1-1) and Washington (3-0)
When you are deciding which goalie to dress you need to look at the NHL schedule to see if your goalie's team will play in a back-to-back game that week. Most coaches will not dress the same goalie in back-to-back games so that is something to consider when you are thinking about which goalie to dress for the week. Here are the teams that play in back-to-back games this week (record of second game of back-to-back up to Week 9):
- Anaheim (3-2), Atlanta (1-5), Calgary (1-3), Carolina (2-3), Colorado (2-3), Dallas (2-2), Detroit (1-1), Minnesota (1-5), Montreal (2-2), New Jersey (1-4), NY Rangers (6-0), Ottawa (1-2), Philadelphia (2-3), San Jose (1-3), Tampa Bay (4-2), Toronto (0-3), Vancouver (1-2) and Washington (2-2)
Knowing which team is on a hot streak or cold streak will help in making your lineup decisions, for example you definitely want to dress a goalie from teams that are on a hot streak. Here are the top five and bottom five teams up to December 4, 2010:
- TOP FIVE: Pittsburgh (9-0-1), Detroit (8-1-1), Phoenix (8-2-0), Dallas (7-2-1) and Montreal (6-3-1)
- BOTTOM FIVE: NY Islanders (1-6-3), Los Angeles (3-7-0), St. Louis (3-7-0), Florida (3-7-0) and Ottawa (3-7-0)
Most elite stars are consistent scorers, but there are several players who are very streaky so keep an eye on their stats so that you can dress them while they are on a hot streak. Here are the top five scorers up to December 4, 2010 for the past 7 and 14 days:
- SKATER PAST 7: Sidney Crosby-PIT (3GP 6G 1A), San Gagner-EDM (4GP 3G 3A), Dustin Byfuglien-ATL (3GP 2G 4A), Pavel Datsyuk-DET (3GP 1G 5A) and Ryan Getzlaf-ANA (4GP 1G 5A)
