Ray Lewis was not too thrilled after his team's loss to the Patriots with the officials' calling of rules designed to protect quarterbacks. Two roughing-the-passer calls on the Ravens helped push along Patriot touchdown drives in this first half, including one questionable call where the flag was thrown way after the play ended and Tom Brady imploring officials for a flag that was eventually thrown. "Without totally going off the wall here, it’s embarrassing to the game," Lewis said. "You can’t do that. Brady’s good enough to make a play. Let him make his own play. You can’t end the play like that, and then throw the flag. No, man....But when you call penalties like that, it takes away from the love of the game, because you can get a Tom Brady to walk by you and say, ‘Oh, that’s a cheap one.’ Wow." So then Lewis was asked if that, in fact, was what Brady said. "You do a double take," Lewis said. "It’s embarrassing – That they even know it. They even know, ‘If you get close to me, guess what? I know if you didn't watch the game that this just seems like sour grapes but there really were some BS calls in this game - the fake FG/pass ball spot was ludicrous. Not saying it cost us the game but there was some serious bull out there today. **********Automerged Doublepost********** I guess I should read the headline a little closer - the protecting the QB thing cut both ways because we got one that went our way (the Suggs one was awful tho). My beef was with the ball spots, and a couple interference calls.

It is very rare for Ray to speak like this and like I said before he will be fined. The truth hurt$ sometimes.
Yeah thats another thing I think will get skewed in the coming week when surely Rays comments will get some attention, that he is NOT a whiner. The NFL is usually so defensive about its referees but if some of these plays get reviewed its fairly plain that he speaks truth.

I thought that was pretty cool of the Football Night crew to bring that up - crazy that now that we have an offense to go with that defense we get some national media sympathy for blown calls against us.
