Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is getting a lot of criticism for throwing consecutive passes to fourth receiver Sam Hurd against Denver standout cornerback Champ Bailey on third and fourth down to end the game in Sunday's 17-10 loss. Following the final incomplete pass to end the Cowboys hopes, a video caught on KDFW Fox-4 shows Romo seemingly telling his linemen to line back up. He then flashes three fingers to one of the game officials.

Wouldn't be a hard thing to do, I forget what i go upstairs for half the damn time. Still, we deserved to lose. And it's still no excuse to throw to Sam Hurd two straight times against Champ Bailey.

I don't forget to go upstairs, I forget what I went upstairs for...lol...

The equivalent of missing placing your notes for a meeting?

I think the better question is why was Champ Bailey wasting his time with Sam Hurd...lol...

Yea, cause this is the equivalent of going upstairs and forgetting that you went up there because you had an urge to eat a banana.

If true, this is closer too McNabb not knowing the overtime rules... okay, maybe not that bad!

I'd rip Eli and any other QB for some crap like this too, so don't get all defensive.

it doesn't help that Romo has to line up half the players on his offense every play because they don't know where they're supposed to be. The guy has way too much to do on the field so it doesn't surprise me if he has trouble keeping track of the time/downs.

I think its ridiculous to not know 4th down....it's a crucial point in a game if a team goes on 4th...this is a big deal to me. To win in the NFL you need perfect execution, and this is a good example of why good teams aren't successful sometimes, being unaware in critical situations, and quite frankly having a mediocre coach who obviously hasn't instilled the importance of situational football to his players.

    i agree harvs

while i know everyone has forgotten things once in the while this is the kind of thing that seperates the greats from the good the champs from them almost got it. i mean its the fourth qtr with seconds left u should have everything planned out not missing a beat to me this is unexcusable. i know its not all romos fault but we were in position to tie the game which was crucial

you're correct Harvs. it IS embarassing and proves that Wade and Garrett are doing a horrible job coaching their players. there is WAY too much confusion amongst ALL of their offensive players. receivers are running the wrong routes. RB's don't know where to line up. O-linemen don't know the count. They do not have their crap together at all right now.

Instead of him being stupid and forgetting what down it was maybe he was being smart and trying to trick the refs into things they still had one more play. In truth I do not think that is what happened, I think he was thinking more about the amount of time on the clock than the downs.

On the 4th down play I think he would have had a better chance going to Austin instead of heard. That being said I like the play calling even less than I do Romo's pbutt.

i agree the pass was catchable it hit hurd in the hnads but bailey pushed it out i dont have problem witht he pass but the choice of play calling not just on that one but others as well

didnt we have an int in the redzone like from the 5yd line why are we throwing it instead of running choice

maybe i need to see the replay again but it seemed romo may have had a chance to run to the endzone ?

Na, there was no chance, unless your talking about second down... don't remember what happened other than incomplete pass and they don't show it.

maybe it was 2nd down, thought there was a chance on one of the last plays anyway.

What's more likely, that this statement is true, or they are covering for Romo? You make the call. (it reads better from the link)

Actually, I was wrong, there was no second down, it was a spike to kill the clock.

Maybe you guys are thinking first down from the 8.

i can understand losing track of things sometimes in a meaningless situation, but losing track of what down it is in the most important moment in the game is inexcusable.
