He's going to have to put up decent numbers before most 49er fans even consider liking him at this point. This is better then just losing a 1st round pick though.

    86WARD -

meh....ironically, the Niners don't need him right now...lol...

I never really disliked him, just wanted him to sign. I thought what he was doing was stupid though and in the end it looks like it cost him.

As long as he isn't a distraction in the locker room he will definitely help this team stretch the field and make some more room for gore/coffee to run.

86Ward is correct. they're doing fine without him and at this point, he's only going to be used sparingly because he doesn't know the playbook and has no timing with his qb.

Exactly, right now teams are stacking the box. With Crabtree, VD, and Morgan to stretch the field it should open things up. Gore is dangerous even with 8 in the box, but Coffee obviously isn't Gore.

Really, the team is doing well but the offense not so much. The passing offense is terrible, third down conversions are terrible and teams aren't respecting the passing game which is leading to the running game struggling.

With Singletary and Raye running the offense, this is now your new way of life. Get used to it. they will never be an explosive passing game.

I'd like to know if the 49ers have reduced their offer ($200,000 per missed game) as they said they would.

I don't expect one, especially with Hill at the helm. However, I do expect for teams to at least have to pay attention when the threats are there. Bruce still runs great routes, but no longer has the speed to really hurt a team.

yes, crabtree may be able to get a 'little' more seperation than the receivers you have so that Hill can complete a couple more passes a game. but teams will never have to game plan to stop the pass in SF. they will always just need to key on the run game. Raye/Singletary will never utilize your receivers properly, even if crabtree is the next Jerry Rice. It just doesn't fit with their game plan. Even if they had Jerry Rice in his prime, Raye is going to call a HB screen on 3rd and 9. Raye is going to predominately run on 1st and 2nd and occassionally throw in a play action pass just to 'mix things up'. Those plays are about the only place crabtree may be able to help, IF he is any better at running routes/getting separation.l

Now if we can just get a QB that can throw down field and not throw to his check offs almost all the time maybe I'd enjoy having Crabtree who was sick in college...lol

I'll admit that our passing game is anything but dominant, however...
Do we already forget the 80 yard fourth quarter drive engineered by Hill in week 1 to beat the cards?
Do we forget the late fourth quarter drive lead by Hill in week 3 that SHOULD of beat the Vikings?
Sean Hill has done EXACTLY what has been asked of him, if not more. We're not spreading the field like other teams can... because that's not our game. We're getting VD involved and he's looked great. We're NOT turning the ball over. We're controlling the ball, our D has looked great. Crabtree, once ready, will fit into this scheme perfectly. He's not a speed guy, he's someone who can get open on the short routes and make plays after that.

Our passing game is what it is but it has given us a chance to win every week.

Our defense has given us chances to stay in the games, our offense is not where it needs to be to win deep in the season as I said in my blog, we need to beat teams outside of the NFC West to be taken serious.
