I thought we would be playing St Louis. I thought the division winners were 1-2-3 with the wildcard #4. What am I missing? I thought Colorado would be 4, even if they had a better record than the cards.

 

The Dodgers can't play the Rockies. You can't play a team in your own Division in the first round.

 

that's hecked up, with St Louis struggles against lefties, I would love to get them in the first round.

yeah, I know you're an orioles fan, so I'll try to explain it to you. If your team wins enough games or the division, then they go to this thing called the Playoffs. It's how they determine the champion. :icon_cheesygrin:

it is hecked up. the dodgers won the best record in the n.l. and their reward is playing a higher seed. stupid rule.

 

essentially we would have played the rockies no matter what. even if we beat the dodgers for record and if the cards can beat the dodgers, we get home field against them as well.

 

i know but it's still hecked up when it turns out like this did. whats the reward for having the best record in the regular season beyond HFA ?

meh - that's the dodger's problem. i amore interested in seeing the playoff roster. better not see bruntlet or stairs at least in the 1st round.

 

Cliff Lee officially announced as tomorrow's starter.

 

figured that would be the case. hamels as much as told everyone in his interview the other day where he said he would have no issue not starting as he admits he hasn't pitched well enough.

The reason MLB has this rule is for essentially what happened this year. The Dodgers avoided playing a Rockies team from their own division with a better record than the Cardinals. It worked out great for LA.

 

i know dawk but it's garbage. oh well doesn't matter, it's phillies/cards in nlcs anyway.
