With less than 30 seconds left in a home tilt against the Dallas Cowboys, the Kansas City Chiefs had the opportunity to win their first game of the season -- which would have also been the first win of Todd Haley's head coaching career. After a Dwayne Bowe touchdown, the Chiefs trailed by the Cowboys 20-19 with a conversion on the way. They could have converted a two-pointer and won the game. Instead, they opted to kick the extra point and tie the game. Source: NFLFanhouse
I think they should have, they trailed the whole game (as far as I know) and ended up scoring in the last few seconds.......... once it went into OT I was fairly sure Dallas was going to end up scoring becuase they have a tendancy to kick it up a notch when needed. I think they should have chanced it but that is just my opinion.
There is no reason to believe that they would have converted the two. Go for the tie cause the entire team was playing hot and hope to win it. If he had gone for two and failed he would have been ridiculed even more. **********Automerged Doublepost********** Chiefs lead 13 - 3 at one point.
Made the right call. The just moved the ball down the field & had some momentum. They're at home & won the toss. Football #101. Shame they didn't keep it going in OT. That first holding call seemed to stop them in their tracks...
We did that last year against the volts. and missed our chance 2 win in OT. we dont have a leader on the D yet. Thats how we always lose leads.
The chiefs had nothing to lose they should of gone for 2 they had the cowboys reeling and they let them of the hook(famous words). you got johnson, bowe, vrabel im pretty sure they would got the ball in from the one. i dont think they would of riddiculed haley any less. Atleast he would of shown some balls.
It's my opinion because I am more of a risk taker lol, I would have gone for 2 but thats just me lol.
i would go for 2 .. it doesn´t matter 1-4 or 0-5 , the season is done , i hope they can win at least 1 game
At the time I was pulling for the extra point. Not because of the outcome but now seeing the stats and replays it may have been wise to go for two. Until that drive the Chiefs had absolutely zero momentum and they're defense couldn't stop a bad high school team. Now they're pumped, feeling a little confident and the Cowboys had to be wondering what the hell just happened. It MIGHT have been the perfect opportunity for the Chiefs to go for two.
The rules goes you go for two on the road and one at home. The chiefs were moving the ball well at the end and it made sound logic to go for one. It played out well for them at first. They were able to move the ball get a few first downs and then pin Dallas deep. They made Dallas go three and out and got the ball back right at mid field. Two first downs and they would have been able to kick the winning FG but it just did not work out for them.
That's easy to say NOW...but at the time, I thought going for 2 would just be stupid...ESPECIALLY if our idiot of a HC would've expected LJ to punch it in...we all know THAT'S not gonna happen this year. :icon_rolleyes:
they had trouble moving the ball before that last drive, a winless team should have went for the gusto and went for 2.
