Lovie Smith Doesn't Rule Out Bears Bringing In Larry Johnson

Given good blocking and a fresh start, Larry Johnson might still be the power-running Pro Bowler who had back-to-back 1,700-yard seasons for Kansas City. Or he might be a declining malcontent who'll only cost money and cause trouble. Any team with a faltering running game is bound to be tempted by Johnson, despite his baggage and his age (he turns 30 on Nov. 19). "Any player that's available, we look at," said Bears coach Lovie Smith. "That's been our standard policy throughout. That'll be the case with Larry."

These idoits just don't get it do they. We need new management. That has been the problem for ages.
Cedric Benson is now a Bengal and leading the league in rushing. Kyle Orton is now a Bronco and they're 6-1. Has has a season QB rating of 95.5 with 9TDs and 1int and 63.6 completion percentage with 1617yds.

LJ may be able to help them for a little while. he will run hard for a while because he's angry but after a few losses and not getting enough carries, he will turn into a cancer again.

All Chicago needs right now is a slow running back. That will help everything.

I'm trying to forget but your not making it easy.
A #1 for Cutler as most know then our #2 for Gains Adams from the Bucs a month ago.

I don't know why people are suprised with Orton's play. Through 7 games last year Orton had a QB rating of 91.4 with 10 TDs, a 62 completion percentage and 1669 yards.

As far as Larry Johnson goes, I think he is worth at least considering. With Wolfe being out and Peterson coming off a knee injury they need to bring in another running back ASAP. They can generate an open spot by placing Tinoisamoa on IR. There is no risk bringing in a guy like Johnson to backup Forte. Worst case, if he doesn't work out you release him in a month when Wolfe is healthy.

    Exactly...

Nothing like going on record that you're in the running for a malcontent when all you have to offer is poor blocking. Somebody hose down Lovie before his brain catches on fire. :icon_rolleyes:

With how our O-Line has blocked for Forte this year, would it matter what RB we sign?

    Seriously?

Wow, that could make for an interesting locker room...

IMO, this won't end well for the Bears if they sign him.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Bears sign LJ but with how our running game has gone, I don't know if it's worth signing LJ.

If you follow the LS trend of "running off the bus" & using the run/pass ratio of the last game as a gauge, I guess we could sign him & give him 1 or 2 of the 5 rushes Forte had.

    Gotta keep Forte fresh... :icon_rolleyes:
