ESPN "Monday Night Football" analyst and former longtime NFL coach Jon Gruden has agreed to a multiyear extension with the network. Gruden, who joined ESPN in September to replace Tony Kornheiser in the MNF booth, will also appear on ESPN's Super Bowl week and NFL Draft coverage, will call the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl and will serve as an analyst for ESPN Radio's 2010 Rose Bowl and BCS title game broadcasts, where he will again team with MNF play-by-play caller Mike Tirico. "Working with Mike, [Ron Jaworski] and our entire Monday Night Football team is the most fun I have had in years, and I am fired up to make this long-term commitment to ESPN," Gruden said in a statement. "Monday Night Football is special and I look forward to remaining a part of it and continuing to call these great games." Gruden, fired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Jan. 16, was the winningest coach in Bucs history (60-57 in seven seasons) and led Tampa Bay to victory in Super Bowl XXXVII.

man, that's a crapload of 'no's'. you must really not like gruden in the booth.

in all seriousness, is gruden trying to become the new madden with his style? it seems like he's trying to imitate the more-than-obvious statements and his demeanor somewhat. what do you guys think?

Gruden wants to be in a bukakke with every player than makes any kind of play whatsoever. A guy makes a simple tackle="boy I love how he tackles", a RB makes a run of 5 yards up the gut="boy I love how this guy runs the ball", a WR makes a simple sideline catch="boy I love how this guy catchs the ball", a guy returns a punt for positive yards="boy I love how this guy returns the punt", a defensive player gets an INT="boy I love how that guy makes a play on the ball", a QB move up in the pocket to elude the rush="boy I love how that guy has pocket presence", a punter gets it inside the 20="boy I love how that guy punts the ball", a kicker makes a FG/PAT="boy I love how that guy kicks the ball".

So either he is mentally goobered or he is constantly on a whole mess of extacy.

yes and that's kind of how madden was with his insanely obvious statements. i think gruden sees an opportunity to become the new madden and have his own video game someday...................

Unlike Madden, Gruden yells and gets all upity about a simple play and starts hollering and getting all moist in his vaginal area.

eh, madden used to get moist in his vaginal area over a lot of players and plays too, though.............. favre, the cowboys, plays that he could describe as 'boom boom boom', etc.

lol true. But the world already had a Madden, another would dumb down people even more.

Damn, I had hoped he'd go back to coaching. At least then he's just freaking annoying to one team's fans.

No, Kornholer was terrible and a slackjawed heckstick to boot. SHould have stuck to his TV show. I don't mind Gruden. I like how he explains plays and at least offers reasons for his Boy I love that play outbursts. He seems to speak about BOTH teams instead of verbally fellating one team only.

i dont think hes THAT bad, espn has some worse clowns working for him.

i hated madden, and i hate collinsworth....hes not on that level to me. really they all suck besides al michaels to me, but they do a good job explaining crap to people that just watch football, not people like us who are passionate about it.

like i hate kiper and mcshay, rarely agree with their evaluation of draft prospects, but to the common fan they provide ok insight.

schefter blows them all out of the water, complaining about everyone else is beating a dead horse
