Now that he’s found a safety net with the Chiefs, Chris Chambers isn’t quite as bewildered about his recent release from San Diego. Yet Chambers, a standout at wide receiver since joining the Chiefs early this month, said he is still troubled by the way his time with the Chargers ended. He said that will help motivate him Sunday when the Chiefs play the Chargers in San Diego. “I have a chip on my shoulder just from leaving there, to tell you the truth,†Chambers said. “I’m going to go out and play the best game I possibly can, and hopefully I’ll be able to make some plays. I’m sure it will have some emotion involved in it.â€

chambers has been playing great. i guess the only question at this point is what to do with him at the end of the season. he's been known as a contract player so should a team only sign him to a 1-year deal to keep him motivated?

Good point tho there always seems to be some team out there that'l learn the hard way from only looking at the last year.

Thank God the Bears didn't pursue him. We like to keep our WRs virginal & pure...:icon_rolleyes:

Pretty sure the Chiefs nabbed him before the Bears even had a shot, unless you're talking about a trade.

Anyways really all he does is replace Bowe, I'd be more worried if both were playing. I think we can contain him from having a big game.

That alleged chip that he is playing with right now will become one soft and soggy chip in no time. Chambers will never be the full time consistent player that he fools many fans into thinking that he can be when he has his big games every 4 or 5 games or so.

based on history, i can't really argue. how about giving him a 1-year performance based contract though? i'm not sure they could get away with doing it (some other team might give him a guaranteed long-term deal) but if i were a GM, i would have no problem giving him a 1-year performance based contract with big money going to him if he does well.

    Maybe something like this:

    $2 mill guaranteed
another $2 mill if he hits 50 catches
another $2 mill if he hits 80 catches
another $2 mill if he catches 10 td's
another $2 mill if he makes the pro bowl

that way, if he does turn fat and lazy again, they're only out $2 mill but if he keeps playing at this pace, he could make up to $10 mill next season..........???

actually, now that i think about it, why aren't ALL players on contracts like this so they have some incentive to play hard?
