Updating an earlier item, Brent Celek's six-year contract extension is worth $33 million, with $11 million of it guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That's a heck of a lot of money for a third year tight end, but Celek's greatness this season is hard to deny. Just 24 years old, he could be good for a long, long time. Source: Rototimes.com
:Loco: ...but yea, Celek is a stud. Sucks, lol. The NFC East has some damn good TE's. I don't think we use Boss nearly enough.
eh, maybe not. what are we talking about? $5 mill a year? that's really not bad for how good it looks he is going to be. yep, he's fun to watch and could be good for many years.
I think they are over paying him some right now, but I like the eagles approach over pay a little right now will be cheaper than paying market value later.
We do that with every young player. Sometimes it pays off (Trent Cole, Sheldon Brown), sometimes it doesn't (Reggie Brown).
One thing i loved that he talked about his press confrence is he wont be one of those players that later down the line complains about his contract. He said hes thankful for the eagles setting up him and his family for life and that players should honor there contract. That was his response when the question was how are you gonna feel when in a couple year TEs are gonna be making even more money
