Dolphins Dumping The Wildcat Offense?

The wildcat formation got an unexpected bye week in Miami, the Dolphins played the entire game without using it once in their 22-21 win over the Patriots on Sunday. The streak ended against New England, one of the teams that has had trouble stopping it in the past. Dolphins coaches have been considering what to do with the wildcat for a few weeks, after running back Ronnie Brown had a season-ending injury against Tampa Bay last month.

Well you can't argue with a win, but Ricky could handle it fine. I do think the beauty of it before was that teams had to account for both Ronnie and Ricky, and now they will just be gunning for Ricky.

I think they've realized that they got themselves a solid nice young quarterback in Henne so that don't need to run a gimmicky offense. Plus it's alot less effective with Ronnie Brown out. Ronnie has become pretty injury prone, can't count on him to play a full season.

Wildcat is just a temporary fashion and will disappear soon

Not if the team is able to run it well, like the Dolphins do.

Still don't understand why the wildcat is so popular....its a gamble whenever it was done.

I mean ronnie brown did it ok but if they insist on keeping this kind of play going....put ricky williams on it...he may not be perfect BUT if you think about it ..perfection is not the name of the game with this type of risky play anyways.

i doubt they drop it, not using it against NE is brilliant, they have gashed NE the last few times using it, im sure NE had it in the gameplan pretty heavily

I thought the whole reason they drafted Pat White was so they could start throwing out of the Wildcat. I do not think that the Wildcat will go away any time soon. For the most part it does a decent job. That being said I do think it will be like the Run and Shoot where teams base their whole offense on a gimmick.
