Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell Won't Take A Pay Cut In 2010

A bit surprising to walk into the Raiders locker room this morning and see JaMarcus Russell standing at his locker at the start of media availability time today. He said he was happy Bruce Gradkowski is leading the offense to more scores of late–and noted that the WRs are making many more plays for Gradkowski. Asked point-blank if he'd be willing to adjust his deal by possibly taking a paycut in 2010, Russell could not have been more clear: "Oh, no. That's over and done with. I don't even consider that as a part of it."

Russell just put the pen to the paper and signed his own death warrant with that response. Good bye.

 

He knows his days are numbered so why take a pay cut he'll be gone soon enough.

 

i wouldnt either....heck that, if i were that terrible i would want to maximize income until i cant any longer

He's frrrrrred... and I think that's too bad because I personally would love to see him starting games for the raiders again.

 

He would be stupid to take one. He will never have the chance to make that kind of money again.

Honestly, why should he take a pay cut? The contracts the NFL signs these rookies to are a joke. They guarantee these college guys tons of money without them having ever played a single down in the league. Tons of these guys come in for a few seasons, stink up the joint and leave multi-millionaires. It's ridiculous.

Russell is a complete bust, but he's never going to make this kinda coin again. Why should he take less now when he's going to be sitting on his couch weighing over 300lbs in a couple of years anyway?

The problem isn't Russell; the problem is the NFL.

 

Russell was a second round pick during his JR season at LSU. A good bowl game and a sick combine doesnt justifiy the jump from a second round prospect to #1 overall

 

yeah you guys dont know crap seriously you think jamarcus will be cut it will never happen. Cable will be fired first and he will regain the starting job next season he is an al davis guy which means he is going to get every chance to succeed. I think cable signed his pink slip when he benched him.

Quinn should have been the first QB taken that year and idc what anyone says, he was the better prospect.

Calvin Johnson, however, was the only man deserving of first overall

 

Quinn and Russel are terrible. Russel is just worse, at least Quinn has shown flashes.

i dont believe quinn is terrible, i believe the browns have ruin his career so far.

russell has been awful since before he was drafted but good for him

 

Claussen or Locker would be star's in 3 years if Oakland drafted them. With one of them throwing to DHB, Murphy, Higgins (who Im not giving up on) and Schilens they would be a nasty vertical passing team like back in the mid 90's
