There is a rumor making the rounds in NFL front offices that says the Bears' job would be Shanahan's second choice if Smith were to be fired,his first choice would be the Cowboys, assuming Wade Phillips gets fired. Neither team may come calling, and the Bears hiring Shanahan is difficult to envision even if Smith were to be fired, but two teams already have moved on Shanahan, one is the Bills, the other, according to the rumor mill, is the Redskins. Why would Shanahan choose the Cowboys first, they have Tony Romo at quarterback, a player Shanahan tried to bring to the Broncos when Romo came out of Eastern Illinois, which also happens to be Shanahan's alma mater.
