The Cincinnati Bengals plan to rest their starters during Sunday's regular-season conclusion against the New York Jets. Because the New England Patriots play the Houston Texans and could secure the third seed with a win, there may be no point as far as seeding for the Bengals if they win or lose to New York. "It will be another Sunday for us," coach Marvin Lewis said. "I'll make those adjustments and so forth later in the week and as we go. We're going to approach it as a game we need to win."

Please Marv... please. This is one of those times I wish Marvin Lewis was my Uncle or something so I could just call him up and beg him to death. The Bengals are a better team then the Jets, but there backups aren't. :icon_evil:

I sure hope someone (maybe his nephew) reminds Lewis of the '07 Giants who had their playoff spot locked up but played their starters anyways against the 15-0 Patriots. Even tho they lost they still carried the momentum into NFL lore.

Do it to screw the steelers over get a little payback for the playoff loss where palmer got taken out the first play of the game.

Why would you want to help your division rival get in?

they dont want to play the steelers, it would be smart just to throw the game....if the steelers get the 6th and the bengals are the 3rd.....that would be an amazing scenerio for me

Bengals won't be the 3rd, Belichick actually has some balls. Not to mention that scenario isn't possible, Only way Bengals can get #3 is if Patriots lose to Texans. If Patriots do lose to Texans we're basically eliminated.

A teams not going to "throw" a game because they don't want another team to get in...that's silly. And the players probably don't even care to think about the scenarios of who they may or may not play.

But to answer your question...familiarity and the fact that you've beaten the Steelers twice already and there is nothing that says you can't do it a third time if you had to face them...which they most likely won't unless it comes down to the Steelers and Bengals in the Championship game in Cincinnati. Why wouldn't the Bengals want that Championship game in Cincy?

WARD, I crap you not that I had a dream that Patriots already won and Bengals had there starters in and were up 17-0 over the Jets I was heckin excited and then I woke up, I was pissed. For whatever reason during that dream Pittsburgh was playing at the same time and they were up 2-0 over the Dolphins. Patrick Bailey had the sack and safety lol

Meh do what's best for the team. As long as you aren't 14-0! Because your city and fans would crucify you if you did something intelligent like protect your starters for the postseason!

I want them to win for sure if the patriots lose, if the Pats win I don't care I would rather the guys rest. not to screw the steelers out of anything just to rest. I would love to see the Bengals do to the Steelers what the Steelers
    *dance exactly
man the Steelers game would not be at the same time as the Bengals game
