The Bears have fired offensive coordinator Ron Turner, as well as offensive line coach Harry Hiestand, quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton and tight ends coach Rob Boras, according to a league source. The Bears will keep receivers coach Darryl Drake and running backs coach Tim Spencer, Drake's receivers were the most criticized group coming into the 2009 season, but performed much better than expected. Also, the Bears are expected to name assistant Rod Marinelli the defensive coordinator, according to a source. He will relieve head coach Lovie Smith of those duties. Source: Chicago Tribune
Agreed. Their game plan this year was very flawed. They didn't run the ball that well this year and they also tried to make Cutler do to much. A big part of Cutler's failures were on the coaching staff as well. Give Cutler some better WR's and change up the scheme some and Cutler can be a better QB.
Did you actually watch any Bears games this year? Or last year or the year before that? Ron Turner has been Bears fans' whipping boy ever since Grossman's meltdowns in '06, he is grossly incompetent. There's a mile-long indictment against him somewhere. **********Automerged Doublepost********** Well, they couldn't run the ball well because they had maybe the worst offensive line in the NFL, which isn't really Turner's fault. But there are plenty of other reasons he needed to be fired. I actually thought I'd be excited about the day when Turner finally got fired, but I'm kind of meh about it because it's like an overflowing toilet that only got half-flushed.
Turner is a crapty OC regardless of Cutler's shortcomings. We've been waiting to get rid of this douche bag for a while now. :icon_cheesygrin:
Pleased to see the back of Turner, as you say the $11 million for Lovie over the next two years proved to much for the organisation.
