the ravens' pass rush is nothing special, Jets did not give manning any trouble, if teams get after manning, that means dallas clark is open, which means a long day for ravens fans

ok, let me clarify because I don't think we're on the same page. I'm not saying a team has to enter the playoffs on a huge winning streak in order to be successful in the playoffs. When I mention a team maintaining timing/chemistry/momentum heading into the playoffs, I am speaking of the starting players continuing to have as much live game time as possible at the end of the season to run new plays, new schemes, tweak things, make adjustments, etc. before the competition gets kicked up a notch in the playoffs. More often than not, teams that sit starters in the last couple of regular season games and then have a bye in the first week of the playoffs seem to lose a lot of their timing/chemistry/momentum they had playing together because they haven't had much live, meaningful game time together in a month.

I'm not saying the Colts couldn't win 3 in a row at this point because I never count anyone out of the playoffs. I just don't agree with not playing your starters very much for an entire month before expecting them to play at the highest level in the playoffs.

The Colts game is this Saturday, January 16th. The last game that the Colts management/coaching staff allowed the players to play an ENTIRE game together (which is the only way you build the timing/chemistry/momentum) was December 17th. That's a 30-day hiatus. The 'halves' the key players played in the last 2 games may help a little bit. But one half of football can't replace the timing/chemistry/momentum that is built by playing an entire game together. Playing one half is basically an elevated practice/scrimmage. A team can't build the confidence, chemistry, etc. that is needed in the playoffs just playing an elevated practice together.

Just my opinion though. The Colts may be good enough to overcome this even if I'm correct.

  10. Mr. D

    Mr. D WINNING!!

Colts should have this game in the bag, only thing the Ravens have for them is a run game and somewhat of a Defense, No passing in this game for the Ratbirds

    Manning should tear them up

Ravens defense is fired up and so is Rice. These two things combined give the Ravens the win

  12. The Colts shut down the Ravens running game in the regular season they will do it again in the playoffs. When Freeney and Mathis start hitting Flacco the passing game stops. All that equals Colts win big!

Just because I don't think our team will win, that means I can't be happy/congratulated when they do?

BTW, I changed my prediction to 28-27 Ravens on a failed Colts 2 pt. attempt with under a minute left, OR a 31-28 Ravens win on a last second Cundiff FG.

I just think we can dominate the pace of this game if we run Rice and McGahee, blitz Peyton, and if our secondary plays as well tonight as they did on Sunday. Hold Manning to 2 TD's and getting a couple turnovers will be key. Ravens will take the ball and run with it on their way to a second consecutive AFFCG appearance. Go Ravens!

    No. 1 reason Ravens will win: Today's Flacco's 25th Birthday! :icon_cheesygrin:

Also Greivis Vasquez's birthday; he's 23 - terps beat BC earlier today 73-57.
