Packers CB Charles Woodson Named AP Defensive Player Of The Year

Green Bay cornerback Charles Woodson has won The Associated Press 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. The versatile Woodson tied for the league lead with nine interceptions, returning three for touchdowns, and was a key to the Packers' turnaround on defense. His role in Green Bay's ranking second in overall defense, first in interceptions (30), takeaways (40) and turnover margin (plus-24) earned Woodson 28 votes from a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NFL.

woodson had a monster year. i'm surprised Allen didn't get more votes and very surprised Willis didn't get ANY votes ..............

Love it. Woodson was the man this year. It's a shame what happened to him against Arizona, but that's on the refs not him.

what a shame him and nanmdi in the raider defense would of been awesome. you guys forget he was an al davis pick.

congrats to woodson, well deserved....i just wish sharper would have stayed healthy to give him a run for his money

 

Funny how most NFC fans think Woodson deserved it and most AFC fans think Revis should have gotten it. I thought both played ridiculous.

I hate looking at stat sheets because they dont tell the full tale, especially with corners... but Woodson did have 3 more INTs, 2 more sacks, 4 more FF, and 2 more TDs than Revis.

 

woodson also got torched alot, something that revis did not. picks along with getting burned is not as good as less picks with not getting thrown at much at all

i have a soft spot for revis, i admit it....he made me look like an idiot cause i hated him in the draft....i respect that

 

Woodson was excellent but I'd have gone for Revis personally, the guy shut down all the big name receivers.
