its possible....but i think parcells would like cody in the middle of that line. cody=run stuffing phenom, merling=pass rusher from the weak side, langford=well rounded 34 end
I dont think Cody is ready to be an every down player yet, and I dont think Parcells will take him over Williams for that reason On the flip side, Cody is the more standard NT and Parcells is known for being by the book 3-4
1st Round. Taylor Mays USC 2nd Round. Brandon Spikes FLORIDA 3rd Round. Alterraun Verner UCLA 4th Round. Sam Young NOTRE DAME There's no doubt about it... Al Davis is drafting Taylor Mays. I was against the Darren McFadden pick.. but Taylor Mays is a player that this team needs. This past season Michael Huff and Hiram Eugene kept getting killed.. Missing tackles and they got burnt every game! I don't expect Tyvon Branch to start next season. You put Mike Mitchell at Strong and Mays at Free.. this Defense could be NASTY! Alterraun Verner grew up a Raiders fan, i'm pretty sure Raider scouts already know. He was pretty good at UCLA.. He reminds me of Charles Woodson. If he's still on the board Al Davis will draft him in the 3rd if he hasn't done so already.
I've been watching Mays play for the longest... the only reason why he didn't have a good season in 09 is because he was playing on a freshman defense. The Oakland Raiders are few DEFENSIVE players away from making some noise in the AFC WEST... Our offense will be okay as long as Russell is on the sidelines.
sorry but i disagree. i didnt like mays any of the years he was playing, and he played on some elite defenses
You were watching Mays with a bias. Mays doesn't tackle well, takes poor angles, lacks ball skills, and isn't all that good in coverage. If he was as good as everyone says he is then it wouldn't make a difference who was around them because HE would make THEM better, not the other way around. Just look at Nnamdi, he is so good that even without a steady team around he, he still produces.
Keep in mind that Minnesota's D-line is a bunch of seasoned vets. Not first or second year players. That D-line wasn't built over night. Our d-line, different scheme, really only one great building block on it. I suppose if you drafted Wotton used up at DE, Spears Rat in the midd with Spencer at the other end and switch to the 4-3 it might become dominant. I'd much rather see us pick Shaun Rogers from the Browns who might be available say for a 3rd? 4th? free agent? iunno. Don't get me wrong there are good DT's in the draft, but when your drafting guys it takes time as you know. If we picked up Rogers you could compare the move to when the Vikes picked up Pat Williams. And i'd say Rogers at his best is better than Pat ever was at his best, plus Rogers still has plenty of years left in him. I'd love to add Rogers however it might not fit in terms of attitude and character seeing as how he has a bit of an ego.
ive never been big on rogers as a 34 NT, he doesnt play like one, but he would kill in dallas's scheme, especially when you can put ratliff at the end spot....that crap would be dominate
Im really liking Rogers but as a part timer, a 30 snap a game guy (kinda how I see Cody for now). With Wootton, IMO that depends on keeping Spears whether he is extended, tendered, or tendered and traded. I could see Phillips liking Wootton, and seeing him as a better fit. I dont see that happening if we intend on keeping Spears With Rogers ego, I think that would take a hit here because here he know's he is high expendable
hes not the best NT to build a 34 around, but to bring him in one thats already pretty good he could crush
You guys know good and damn well that if Taylor Mays fell to the "Steelers" or "Dolphins" yall would draft him. It's nothing new.. everybody hates the Raiders.
i swear i would turn in my steeler fan card if they followed up evender hood with taylor mays....i mean that
I actually want to see the Raiders win 11 games because I hate people The "lol at the Raiders" and pages of ensuing mindless follow up post's get tired real fast
So because we are stating what is wrong with Mays that makes us hater of the Raiders? If Mays were to be drafted by the Dolphins, while I would hope for him to have success, I would be more pissed than when the Dolphins drafted Ted Ginn over Patrick Willis.
