Brett Favre's 11-yard touchdown to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe with 1:55 to play did not win many friends in the Cowboys locker room. Already up 27-3, the Cowboys felt the Vikings ran the score up at their expense. Linebacker Keith Brooking went to the Minnesota sideline to let his feelings be known after the touchdown. "I thought it was totally classless and disrespectful," Brooking said. "This is the NFL, that's not what this is about. I don't think there's a place for that ... I was looking for Childress. I didn't think it was right, but they've got to see us next year. They've got to see us. You better believe I'll have that one circled on the calendar, but I say that, we get paid to stop them. I don't care what's called, but sometimes I don't think there was much class in that decision to do what he did." Source: Dallas Morning News
couldn't the Vikes have run out the clock there? Didn't the 'Boys have 0 timeouts? If so, just take 3 knees.
when you get paid millions of dollars to play football you have no right to snitch about a team running up the score...I like Brooking, but he needs to man up here and take his beating like a man
Starters were in on both sides. You keep the momentum going when you have to face a team like the Saints, show that you can 'keep up' with them.
I'm wondering if these comments are being made out of hate of the Cowboys as opposed to the actual play??? Eagle fans care to comment?
I don't really have a problem with it, liek you say stop them. But I just don't see a point in running up the score on teams. It is classless when your attempting touchdown passes on 4th down in the 4th quarter up 3-4 touchdowns with the game in hand. But whatever, what goes around comes around. No hard feelings here.
I honestly would hate an Eagles player to say such a thing. Your job on the field is to stop the opponent. You have a say in the result of the play. Man up and stop them or shut your mouth if you can't.
Cowboys would have done the exact same thing if the tables were turned. Ego's are bruised here, that's all.
I think it was fourth down. They didn't have a whole lot of options, kick a field goal? Still points on the board. They weren't going to take a knee and give the Cowboys the ball. If the Cowboys are going to cry about the score being run up, maybe they should have punted on fourth down in their own territory instead of going for it.
No... didn't you watch the previous game we played? Where we killed the clock basically all 4th quarter long?
It was 4th down... they could have run, knelled, passed, or kicked a field goal. They didn't choose the mercy play, but it wasn't a big deal they went for it either. Really it just gives people something to snitch about, but no body cares.
