Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis declined to back off his assertion that Patriots WR Randy Moss is a "slouch" on Wednesday. In an interview with the NFL Network last week, Revis said that Moss and Bills WR Terrell Owens were slouches. "I don't need to speak on it anymore, I said what I had to say. Revis said. Since when can you not have an opinion who cares if thats the way he feels and either of them dont like it prove him wrong next time. Moss will play him twice next year.
Darrell Revis is the perfect type of corner to shut Moss down actually. He misdirects WR's very well off of the line of scrimmage. He makes them work hard to get through that first 10 yards to where it makes their routes seem sloppy and Moss is such a non physical WR that absolutely hates that. You do that for an entire quarter to Moss with success, Moss's heart won't be into much longer. He'll pretty much mail it in. Moss is a deep threat WR that likes to get a good start off the line of scrimmage where he explodes into 2nd gear after about 10 yards and that's where he's dangerous and where his "deceptive speed" fools DB's. He's much faster than what people give him credit for, but Moss has to be moving fast without interruption to get to that point and Revis is so good at shaking that kind of early momentum. Revis is just a terrible match up for a WR like Moss. He is for anyone obviously, but even more so for a finnesse guy like Moss that likes to gallop down the field once he gets momentum after that first 10 yards.
