Former Bengals QB Boomer Esiason Says Bengals Should Dump Chad Ochocinco

Former Bengal great Boomer Esiason isn't buying what Chad Ochocinco is selling, Boomer said that he's "not a fan of Ochocinco" and that Chad is all about Chad - not the team. He went on to say how he believes Chad's antics leading up to games each week - like trash-talking defensive backs - get other teams focused because they don't want to be shown up. He said the Bengals should part ways with Ochocinco now, but pointed out that head coach Marvin Lewis probably doesn't have the authority to cut or even properly discipline Chad because of heavy handed owner Mike Brown.

I'm not a fan of how he's a magnet to the sidelines when the ball is in his hands, but he is an elite player and although you guys will laugh at this, he is an elite person and I don't think anyone else in the NFL gets that the league is about entertaining them like Ocho does.

This has nothing to do with being entertaining. It has everything to do with what's best for the team. Funny how people completely forget about what a total butt he was the year before last where even he himself admitted that he dogged it in that season. Sorry, but I don't want a guy like that on my team, because you never know when he might want to shut it down again. And I totally agree with Boomer about getting other team's players focused more. It's been that way for years and it doesn't help the other WR's on his team either. Chad bounced back this season and I expected him to. He lost a ton of the attention that he had gotten in previous years, and he wanted it back. He worked real hard before the season again, but that could all change very easily and he could be going at it with Marvin Lewis.

And he is not an elite WR at all. He hasn't been elite in years.

I didn't mean entertaining as being the buffoon, more of the fact that he understands that the league is about the fans.

And not an elite WR? Puleeeeeeeeeeeeease!

Are you guys freaking kidding me? He hasn't been an elite WR in years now. Elite is like the top 5. Now he was elite like 5 years ago and right now he's one of the better ones, but if you'd call him ELITE well I can't take you seriously as someone who is informed with the NFL.

He's not on the level of

    Andre Johnson
    Reggie Wayne
    Larry Fitzgerald
    Brandon Marshall
    Randy Moss

This would be the 2nd tier clbutt.

    Vincent Jackson
    Deshawn Jackson
    Calvin Johnson
    Steve Smith from Panthers
    Wes Welker

Chad is with this class of WR's.

    Steve Smith from Giants
    Anquan Boldin
    Chad Johnson
    Greg Jennings
    Roddy White

That is still a very good class of WR's to be associated with, but ELITE is like the top 5 and he isn't close to the guys I listed in the top 5.

    If you say so.......

But you're thinking Favre is the best QB ever too....

Where did I ever say that? He's one of my favorites and I'm a fan yes, but I don't recall ever calling him "the best." Care to show me where I made that claim?

Okay. Cut Chad. I'm sure there are PLENTY of teams willing to stick their neck out there to pick him up.

    Mr. D WINNING!!

Chad said he would dodge but he knew better because if he did he would have been fined every game. and all that was out of hostility towards the Team owner and how they treated him the year before. chad didn't have such a great year in 2008 due to the simple fact he didn't have a good QB tossing him the ball. all he had was Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Chad may not seem a team player to you, but he proves it on the field and off the field weather you like him or not, he does everything to get attention, help the team. and try to score as many TD's as possible so he can celebrate it.

and as far as Boomer goes, Why did he have to turn into such a douche once he got into announcing. for the love of god this guy has no love for his team that made him. so yes
