Michael Irvin's Lawyer Says Rape Allegation Nothing More Than Extortion

The lawyer for Hall of Famer Michael Irvin said rape charges leveled against his client in a civil lawsuit on Thursday are bogus. Larry Friedman, Irvin's lawyer, told the Miami Herald that the allegations are "totally untrue." An unidentified woman filed the suit in Florida's Broward Circuit Court alleging that Irvin and an unidentified man raped her on the evening of July 4, 2007, at Seminole Hard Rock Casino. "Beyond, perhaps, meeting her, there was nothing," Friedman said. Friedman told the paper the accuser originally asked for $1 million. "This complaint is tantamount to criminal extortion," he said. "There is no merit to the complaint."
