NFL.com senior writer Steve Wyche went Around The League on NFL Network's NFL Total Access on Monday, discussing a number of free agents' futures. From what he's hearing, Wyche believes the Saints will apply the franchise tag to unrestricted free-agent FS Darren Sharper. Sharper, who signed a reported one-year, $1.7 million contract with the Saints last offseason, would be due a tender amount of around $6.45 million under the franchise tag. The deadline for teams to apply tags is Feb. 25.

he's already expressed his desire to stay in the N.O. and we'll be nuts to let him go.....we will pay the man.

$6.45 mill sounds just about right for his services, and at his age, seems like the tag just might be the best thing
