pretty good moves for the phillies, haven't looked at the money involved though. Ankiel signs with the Royals and Mets trade for Matthews Jr. wtf? moves.
Ankiel isn't a completely terrible signing if he can regain his 2007/08 form, he's a good fielder, obviously has a rocket arm and does have pop in his swing. They've made a lot worse investments than Rick. Gotta agree with the Matthews deal, that's a real oddball move.
I hope Ankiel can bring some motivation and leadership as well. It's good to get some more run support for Zach.
Eh, at first I questioned Glass's willingness to spend, but he has risen the payroll at times, we just never make any good signings. Usually, just gambles at best. I'll know more about completely about ownership and Dayton Moore when all of the kids in the Minors start coming up.

Braves have made quite a few moves, they should be a little better next year. They need consistent hitting.
I don't know if this belongs in this thread or not, since he didn't actually go to a new team, but here is goes... Source: Yahoo! Sports (full story)
The Washington Nationals have signed Willy Taveras to a minor-league deal. and The Nationals have agreed to terms with right-hander Chien-Ming Wang, a baseball source has confirmed to MLB.com. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Wang could be a decent pickup. Nats are desperately trying to turn the franchise in the right direction.
That's all I ask! Pitching is pretty much are only problem. Yeah we could use some better players here and there, but our pitching lost us sooo many games last season.
the nationals are on the right track IMO. should make for a very tough division if they get some consistent pitching.
Hey Smeagle why dont you come down to our home opener and watch my Nationals whoop the Phillies butt. I'll save you a seat!
Where oh where will Johnny Damon end up? The White Sox and Tigers seem to be the two frontrunners for his services.
