Eagles Want A Second Round Pick In Return For QB Michael Vick?

Discussion in 'Philadelphia Eagles' started by BigBlueBruiser, Mar 3, 2010.

  1. Michael Lombardi of The National Football Post says that he's been writing and saying all offseason that the Eagles will not trade quarterback Michael Vick unless they get a solid pick in return. And unless they get a second round pick, they won't move him. If they hold on to Vick and he becomes a free agent in 2011, then signs with another team, the Eagles would probably get a compensatory third-round pick.

2nd round pick? I'd trade him away for a guitar pick.

What does Faneca making the pro bowl the next year have to do with the comp pick your team got for him?

Crapty group of QB draft prospects + Crapty group of QB free agents + Team in desperate need of a quality starter = possibility of a 2nd rounder

The Eagles have absolutely nothing to lose here. No one wants to give up a 2nd? Screw it, keep him. No skin off their sack. Just means we'll enter the season with another veteran QB on the roster.

I guarantee the crypt keeper has thought about bringing him in. And his dumb butt would shell out a 2nd without batting an eyelash.

Wow, that's outrageous. There has to be another player in the deal, there has to. Vick is not worth a 2nd rounder.

At that time, Feeley was a young prospect rich in potential, not a convicted dog murder with no accuracy, dipping athletism and a bad attitude.

i'm not an expert on the whole comp pick situation but how would we get a comp pick for an "unrestricted" free agent ? i thought that happened only in the case of RFA's that arent offered a tender ?

:icon_eek: what ? he was 5th round pick going into his 3rd year that had little if any real potential beyond being a career back-up.

  15. Compensatory picks are awarded to teams that have lost more qualifying free agents than they gained the previous year in free agency. The placement of the picks is determined by a proprietary formula based on the player's salary, playing time, and postseason honors with his new team, with salary being the primary factor.

Vick is set to make $5 Million in 2010 if infact the Eagles decide to retain him for one more season. Based on that and his playing time, the Eagles could snag a nice comp pick in return. That could be a factor as to why the Eagles aren't go giddy in parting with him as some have speculated.

Either Lombardi or the dolphins guy is BSing. Something is whack

    A. Boldin = 3rd and M. Vick = 2nd?

so things would depend on what the eagles do this season as far as free agency just as much as how much playing time he'd get. well, not sure the eagles will stand pat on free agents this year and i certainly do not see vick getting much playing time if he's here next season. plus he's already out yapping about wanting to leave because "he" knows he has next zero chance at being a starter here.
