Antwaan Randle El Says He Was Promised A Shot At Being The Steelers No.3 WR

Discussion in 'Pittsburgh Steelers' started by BigBlueBruiser, Mar 9, 2010.

  1. Wide Receiver Antwaan Randle El said his decision to return to the Steelers wasn't only because of his familarity with the organization that drafted him in 2002. According to Randle El, getting the opportuinity to become the team's No. 3 receiver helped make his decision easier. "We just talked about being No. 3," Randle El said today at the Steelers practice facility after signing a three-year contract. "Certainly if Hines (Ward) or Santonio (Holmes) goes down then, of course, being outside. But the focus is being the No. 3 receiver right now. That's what I want to do and certainly be productive at it." Randle El played in 64 games with the Steelers from 2002-2005 and is best known for his 43-yard touchdown pass to Hines Ward to clinch the Super Bowl XL victory over Seattle.

He's dreaming if he thinks he's going to be the #3 WR.

Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, Limas Sweed, Mike Wallace, Antwaan Randle El. :icon_eek: Every team should have such a group to choose from.

Don't think so Antwan. Be happy you're on a roster and a #4.

So what's up with Randle El, Ward? At 3 years, $7MM somebody likes him.

I love him as a #4. He's not really going to be super productive, his numbers have consistently been the 35-50 catch 350-500 yard guy. If he continues that production as a 4, I'm happy. Wallace is way better then Randle El so there's no shot at him taking that spot from Mike. He's not going to be productive on special teams, but he's a veteran receiver who could bring some production to the table.

Holmes, Ward, Wallace, Randle El, Battle, Sweed. Not to mention Miller. If Sweed were to work out his mental issues and whatever else he has going on, that crop could be deadly...

Forgot about Miller. Good God you guys are loaded in the receiving position. Is Randle El a possible exit strategy for Sweed?

At this point he should be smart enough to look at the roster and understand he is not better then Ward, Holmes and Wallace, competitive spirit or not.
