Linebacker Joey Porter agreed to a three-year contract Friday with the Arizona Cardinals, after making the Washington Redskins his second visit. "It is exciting on many levels," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "Two areas that come to mind are his productivity on the field, (because) getting 26½ sacks over the last two years is pretty impressive, especially considering last year with not even playing a full season. Also the mentality he brings, it's something we have made great progress with as a team. Having another veteran player, who has had great success in this league, to contribute to that will only help us in an area defensively where we want to improve." Source: AZCardinals.com
He has become a liability against the run and his mouth can't be backed up. Though in the NFC west he should easily clear 10 sacks.
Whisenhunt knows what he's gettin. And I agree with Ward whole-heartedly. Sometimes all ya need is a little bit of attitude. Get them boys fired up.
I for one am stoked about the move. Like him or not, he was very productive in Miami, and can obviously still play. We brought him in to pressure the QB, and that's one thing he still does very well. I do agree though, he probably didn't warrant that amount of money at his age.
Dude don't be fooled, out of all his sacks last season, 5.5 came against the Panthers(after they lost Gross), the Bills, and the Jaguars. Though he could and should easily get 10 sacks in the NFC north, everything else is going to be poor for him.
