49ers Fans Not Excited About QB David Carr?

Discussion in 'San Francisco 49ers' started by BigBlueBruiser, Mar 21, 2010.

  1. Niners Nation has never really fully warmed up to QB Alex Smith, which led many to believe the addition of David Carr would generate a positive buzz. But the way Pro Football Weekly hears it, the consensus in the Bay Area is that Carr and Smith are pretty much cut from the same inconsistent cloth, and that few fans have gone out of their way to instantly anoint Carr as the new starter under center by any means.

David Carr is a lousy QB so the fans have every right to not be excited about him. I couldn't believe how bad the guy was when he played in Carolina after being at least a mediocre QB in Houston. He also showed nothing in NY that would make you think he's on the cusp of turning things around.

The 49ers are a team that needs to clean house and start fresh at QB.

I remember watching a Texans game in carr's rookie year and the commentator said "I can see David Carr leading this team to a superbowl in the near future"

The announcer forgot to say that he also needed an oline to get there.

Shaun Hill was their best bet out of the crop they had. Screw signing people, either give Nate Davis a chance or clean house.

i must strongly disagree. Hill got benched because he couldnt make the vertical throws

But IMO, that was a team that really didn't need that. They got away from their strength: running the football and put him in some pretty rough situations. I'm not saying he's a great QB, or even, well, good, I'm just saying that if you play to your strengths, he's the best QB on your roster to use.

we had to get away from running the ball with every team putting 8 even 9 guys in the box. it got real frustrating watching all the 3 straight runs up the gut and nothing happening.

Hill was not the answer....hes a good guy and all but has a weak arm and as soon as teams figures him out he was doing 3 and outs worse then smith which is why he was benched. He had already hit his ceiling.

With how Carr's career has gone so far, I don't blame 49er fans one bit.

True, Iooking back on it I see what you mean. I still stand by my point that they need to take a page out the Cleveland notebook and cleanhouse at hte QB position.

Damn Donahue/York too. Ok Garcia became greedy but those two totally destroyed the team by firing Mooch 10 days after what remains as the team's only playoff win of the 2000's and letting Garcia go a year later.

Hill wasn't a help, Davis is a year away we don't want to have another Smith fiasco on our hands and Carr is just a back up that play wise is a better fit than Hill.

A Smith started out how when they switched their approach to RayeGun after a few games teams figured it out and his numbers were mediocre. But I do like that they aren't switching to another o coordinator. I think the revolving door at OC has done more damage to Smith's career than anything. If this year doesn't prove fruitful, then he's most certainly done. Carr may prove to be a worthy addition. He moves much better than Smith does, and has a strong arm. We just need to really focus on oline in free agency and draft. Have to say though.... I can't wait for Nate Davis

You Niner fans SHOULD be excited about Carr. As bad as he is, he's still better than that turd Smith.
