Is Ndamukong Suh Worth The Risk?

Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh who very well could be available to the Lions with the No. 2 pick is supposed to be a sure thing, right? Except Len Pasquarelli of ESPN.com warns that defensive tackles can be one of the biggest crapshoots of the NFL draft. But he says Lions coach Jim Schwartz likes former Giants GM George Young's "planet theory" and likely would take Suh.

IF there is any risk, the lions should take it

I didnt really read the article very well becuase I was super busy today but wanted to try to get a post or two out....

I think what they mean is, to take someone in the first and wait on him till the second to take him..... and they are saying its risky becuase someone might pick him up out of no where.....

I also read that if the Rams take Bradford then suh is almost a garentee for the lions, but it all depends on if the Rams take Bradford or if they will pass on him for suh.

Offensive Tackles come & go but SUH - He's one of a kind.
You rarely find a Defensive Tackle like Ndamukong.

You guys can all keep saying he's can't miss, but he sure as hell is a possible miss. A small tweak to an ankle in preseason, car accident on the way to work, or hell, he might just turn into one of the hundreds of other 'can't miss' prospects in the last few decades who were can't misses that did indeed miss.

as is with any player....im saying from a physical, mental and pure ability standpoint this man is a force. he wont be overwhelmed by the pros, he will just dominate them. i never said hes a cant miss, cause he can but hes as close (imo) that you can get of a one, hes basically the anti evander hood.

hes one of the surer things out there, LTs fail alot more than elite DTs, not saying okung is bad but suh wouldnt be a bad pick by any means

He's easily the lowest risk in the draft.

I think that anyone would benefit from Suh being on their team. But, the bigger need for the Lions is at O-line. They need to protect Stafford.

The Lions picked up Corey Williams (IIRC) at DT and although he's not a game changer he can play the position. With Vandenbosh drawing the pressure, Williams may be able to make a difference.

I just see Okung being a better option for a need position.

    DoubleC i'm ready now...

If GMs were thinking like that, no one would never draft or sign anyone...
