DeSean Jackson Won't Skip OTA's For His Desire For A New Deal

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson indicated earlier in the offseason that after making the Pro Bowl in his second NFL season at both wideout and punt returner, he would like to see his contract adjusted and the Eagles have indicated they would like to do that, but that the peculiar rules governing the expiring collective bargaining agreement make it very difficult right now and Jackson could make only 30 percent more than the $385,000 he made last season. In a WIP (610-AM) appearance yesterday with Howard Eskin and Ike Reese, Jackson wasn't asked directly about the 30 percent rule, but he said he and Eagles coach Andy Reid "are on the same page." "The 30 percent rule, it is what it is," he said, adding that he hopes a new collective bargaining agreement will create a more favorable atmosphere. "I'm a patient guy. I'm going to sit back and patiently wait. I know my time will come, sooner or later." Jackson said he wasn't planning to miss any OTAs or anything to dramatize his plight. "You've got my word, I'll be here," he said.

This impresses me a lot cause i always thought he would become very problematic when hiring Rosenhouse but instead he has been nothing short of classy and professional i am really happy to hear that he is letting his actions speak for his work ethic.

 

I want to be impressed but I think it's simply a matter of him understanding that with the odd situation of the uncapped year he is better off financially to wait. I still think that as soon as it isn't better for him to wait he will become a whiny little snitch. Hopefully he will have another great year though and it will make just as much sense for the eagles to extend him and it won't come up for another 4-5 years : D
