Rams Impressed With Texas QB Colt McCoy After Private Workout

Discussion in 'St. Louis Rams' started by BigBlueBruiser, Apr 8, 2010.

  1. Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo and GM Billy Devaney just finished their private workout in Austin with Texas quarterback Colt McCoy. Devaney told Post-Dispatch correspondent Austin Laymance that McCoy showed "all the stuff that you look for in a great quarterback." Devaney did not want to make any comparisons between McCoy and Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, considered by most to be the No. 1 QB in the draft and the favorite for the Rams to use the No. 1 overall pick on in two weeks. "He was extremely impressive," Devaney said. "He made all the throws and his arm strength was good enough."

Colt Mccoy has been impressive - I wasn't at all against a Suh/Mccoy combo, but Colt Mccoy is the type of QB you give a couple of years behind a more experienced QB, and we simply do not have that. Sam Bradford is the kind of QB, that can come in, and earn the starting job from day one, which is what I expect him to do, if given the opportunity to compete.

Some ''experts'' think Mccoy will be a better pro than Jimmy Clausen - which wouldn't surprise me.

But Sam Bradford has to be our guy.

To be honest, if we so badly want Bradford, we might as well take the smaller version (McCoy) and save ourselves a crapload of money that can be used on someone that could actually help improve the team.

I find it comical that people are already annointing Sam Bradford as a capable NFL starter when nobody really knows. I am a fan of McCoy and think it would be smarter to take him rd 2 and fill another need with the 1

Everyone except this forum anyway. For me, out of the "elite/popular" QB's, Clausen is by far the one most likely to succeed (Although I think LeFevour and Jarret Brown could be special if in the right situation).

We know what happens to Bradford when he takes college sacks, take a guess what will happen when he gets hit by some NFL players. He's just too damn fragile.
