With the 5th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Tennessee SS Eric Berry. He is a physical run support player when filling the alley as well as a hard-nosed defender in the passing game. Eric shows great vision and instincts reacting to plays as they develop. Berry doesn't have impressive size but the combination of athleticism, instincts, toughness, production and leadership qualities make him one of the top safety prospects in the 2010 draft.

Okung made more sense, but Berry is more fun.

Way to high to take a safety.

We really could use more protection for our $60 million man, but I can see why we did this.

    I'm not pissed.

We had the worst defense in the NFL last year. Albert can hold down the left side, team was in turmoil last year. Our line will be decent. Great pick and he'll be the most loved Chief since DT.

Herm, I'm going to need an Eric Berry sig pretty soon!

With Okung on the board this pick is just wow. I hope Cassel can still run.

Beating Pittsburgh was totally worth losing Berry.

So you'd rather have Albert move to guard or RT? You'd rather have two rookies on the OL? (new positions) Please, the OL got some upgrades over FA and the draft still isn't over.

I would rather sure up a very poor offensive line to protect a 60 million dollar investment. Lilja is the only real upgrade. Drafting Okung would let Albert to move to RT and shore up 4 positions along the line and possibly draft a center in rounds 4-6. Drafting Berry fills one need. Okung would have fixed two, maybe three. Berry is a stud but the Chiefs still have no one to help him in the front seven.

I've heard that exact same thing for months. If you really believe that Albert stunk at LT and Callaghan isn't any good at RT, then by all means. I know Albert gave up a lot of sacks, but the point of the matter is we were 11th in rushing and gave up 8 sacks in the final 9 games or something. That's not bad at all.

There's no way to look at this pick as a fail.

Well I hope you are happy and I wish Berry and the Chiefs all the luck in the world, outside of the Dolphins of course:icon_cheesygrin:. But Albert needs to be moved from the blindside, maybe with Charles Brown. I wonder if the Chiefs will use Berry as a strong for free safety.
